SAXON are an English heavy metal band, formed in 1976 in Barnsley, Yorkshire. As leading lights in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal they had huge success in the 1980's with 8 UK Top 40 albums including 4 UK Top 10 albums. Saxon also had numerous singles in the Top 20 singles chart. Between 1980 and 1987 Saxon established themselves as one of Europe's biggest metal acts, they also had success in Japan and in the USA. In Japan, the single "Motorcycle Man" stayed in the charts for over 5 months. They still tour heavily and regularly. Saxon have sold more than 13 million albums worldwide and heavily influenced bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Sodom and Running Wild.
The current line-up is Byford on vocals, guitarists Quinn and Scarratt, Nibbs Carter on bass and Nigel Glockler on drums. Saxon are one of the great hard working band and has played no end of festivals including Download and Sonisphere headlining Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock and Monsters of Rock festivals which has cemented the bands 30 year long reputation as one of metal's greatest live acts.
Saxon released a new studio album entitled "Into the Labyrinth" on 12 January 2009 to fantastic critical acclaim from which the successful single Live to Rock was taken.
Doug Scarratt (Guitar) joined Dean Guitars saying he has never been happier with any brand of guitars than he is using his Deans and has a large collection of Deans to draw from. He can be seen playing his Dean Hardtails, Dean Custom V's and The New Dean USA 84 Modern Exotic amongst many others in his collection.
