Ok, I'm not sure if a lot of people know this , but with the non-floyd bridge if you pull on the "dead string" (as I call it) you can get a really cool whammy effect.

Need Help... Rhythym to Lead.

How do I get faster.. I think that I am a pretty good guitar player but Arpeggios/ Sweeps are sortof a pain in the ass to me... I dont know why Its just hard, I also have trouble picking up and down like Rhandy Rhoads in solos... What do you practice to do the solos like he does?? Do you just stroke down and then slowly move to the next note and stroke up or what??? I am switching from Rhythym guitar to lead guitar and its just giving me some problems. Ive memorized most of the Pentatonic Minor Scales and am currently practicing arpeggios and trying to memorize the Blues Scale... But I have been playing for about 5 years on and off and for about 5 months straight, just obsession with the guitar. What I am really looking for is just some advice on what I should be practicing for Finger Strength, MORE speed, and Accuracy... Thanks.
Hey guys. I've been searching high and low for a transcription of this song. I wish JP would just release a book for Angel of Retribution. Lot of great guitar work there.
Anyway, if anybody has this song tabbed out, I'd appreciate it. The only one I saw on the web just had the opening riff.
Thanks.
does anyone have the guitar world issue entitled
"good bye dime"
this issue has a transcription of cemetery gates in it.
if so please email me.
tabs for the sleep!! PLEASE
I need the tabs for the solo please!
So I'd like to start using a metronome to increase my speed and also guage my progress, but I'm not really sure how to use said metronome.
Just taking a simple 3 note per string run, setting athe metronome so that each click represents 1 note is easy to go along with, but something tells me that's not how it's done.
Is the process: "click" - three notes - "click" ? That's a bit tougher because I find myself emphasizing that 3rd not to match up with the click and that in turn delays the next first note. And sometimes I lose completely where I'm at.
So 2 questions: Any tips or tricks with the metronome? And are there any metronomes out there that sound like a drum beat instead of a click? Without dropping $600 on a drum machine?
Thanks!
Normally when I warm up I just go 1234 1234 4321 4321 all the way up and down the neck with some variations. I came up with this. Use all 4 fingers and alternate pick it and it's a pretty decent warm up I think. Do it all up and down the neck.

Splitting up scales.
by TomaS on Sun Jul 23, 2006 4:52 pm
I've just started getting into learning scales. But i'm having a hard time making out the full scales. The pentatonic lesson that gibson_emg posted really helped me since it was split up into positions. So does anybody have a link or a lesson with scales that have been split up into positions?
Thanks
Alright, I'll post some of the licks I use to do when I practice
First we have an arpeggio, preferrably sweeped
| Code: |
e|--------------14-17-15-14------------------------------------------------------|
B|------------15-------------17-15-14--------------------------------------------|
G|----------14-------------------------16-14-12-11-------------------------------|
D|--------12-----------------------------------------14-12-11--------------------|
A|------12-----------------------------------------------------14-12-10----------|
E|-10h14----------------------------------------------------------------14-12-10-|
|
Then there's a lick I use when I practice "Economy picking"
| Code: |
e|--------------------------8-10-12----------|
B|-------------------9-10-12-------10--------|
G|---------------9-10-----------------9------|
D|---------7-9-10----------------------10----|
A|------7-8-------------------------------12-|
E|-5-7-8-------------------------------------|
|
Then a "rolling" kinda lick
| Code: |
e|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|------------14----------12--------10------9------7------5------3---|
D|---10-14--10----9-12---9---7-10--7---6-9-6--3-7-3--2-5-2--0-3-0--2-|
A|-12-----12----11-----11---8----8----7---7--5---5--3---3--1---1---0-|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------|

... and stay tuned for more
a few days ago I found some cool licks that sounded somewhat nice, and then I started working on the second solo of Mr Crowley and I figured out it was the same scale as for the licks I found
so here's my question: what scales did Randy used for this solo ?
I used GP5 and it tells me it's a "13th major C arpeggio" ... is that it ?
WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG!!!!???
I dont know why cant I play "Cowboys From Hell"??!! I dont know if its my pedal or my guitar or even The tab I got.....Can someone help me?????
Anybody got an accurate tab for this song, preferably a Guitar Pro tab. Thanks in advance!
