Guitar Theory Software !
by zipoid_p on Wed Oct 10, 2007 4:19 pm
I was wondering if anyone knows of any guitar theory software programmes, ideally for soloing. I’m a reasonably good rhythm player but my lead playing sucks, basically because of my lack of theory I’m not very good at knowing what to play over rhythm parts. say for instance the main rhythm progression is C – Am – G – Bm. I know that C – Am – G are related so I can stay in C for these 3 chords but with Bm I would have to change key to B. Question, is there a software calculator available that you basically type in your chord progressions and it will automatically tell you the key Scales & Modes you could potentially use and their flavour/style etcetera. Example

C C C C Am Am Am Am G G G G Bm Bm Bm Bm - My Progression

I VI V VII - As used in songs by “ “

--------------------------------------------------------------
C pentatonic B pentatonic - Classic Rock Sound
--------------------------------------------------------------
C Blues A Blues G Blues B Blues - Blues

Ect, you get the idea !
Sweep Picking

I'm pretty close to actually getting a solo down. Its the Duncan Hills Coffe Jingle, but I'm not really fast at sweep picking. Does anyone know of a good excersize to speed up on it?
Riffing

I need some n00b riffs to help me keep my interest. I develop technique a lot, but i need something to jam to besides basic n00b riffs like crazy train and smoke on the water. And what are some good techniques to learn as a beginner like tapping and sweeping and whatnot.

ASG - Saga

has anyone even heard this song?

it has a rad bassline at the starting too.

could someone maybe tab this one out for me...mostly the guitar part but the bassline would be rad to have too so i can play it with my buddy.

they have a tab for the guitar part on Ultimate-Guitar.com......except for the fact that its off by a bit and the power chords are really off and theres parts missing.

could someone help with this one??
staying in key?
by Mr. Fraggle Stick on Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:44 pm
i still dont understand this.. ok so i know you can stay in key by staying within the 4 frets of where u start like say the blues sale which is basically the only scale i play. so.. if a solo is in one key.. why are they allowed to go to different fretts... im just really confused because i want to learn how to solo properly while staying in key without just going up and down the blues scale on only 4 fretts.. Confused
