by Blackened on Fri Mar 09, 2007 3:48 pm
For the past 2 days or so after playing the guitar for a while, my picking hand after i move it from the playing position and extend it one of my veins/arteries/nerves tingles instantly. Just like when you hit your funny bone. cept its not in that area its below my wrist to the side of my arm. Is this something i should be worried about. Like tendunitis? Ive been playing for about 2 years. But lately alot more went from 1-2 hours a day to 4+ hours daily. Thanks for the help.
Gary Moore instructional material?
by Jag Panzer on Tue Mar 13, 2007 2:39 pm
I've noticed there are several Gary Moore instruction books/dvd's out.

Does anyone have one? Or checked one out?

If so, are they any good? I'm looking for some good instructional material so I can study Gary Moore's playing.
Home recording...

I'm looking to create some backing tracks that I can jam along with. I already have Acoustica's Beatcraft for the drums and now I want to lay down some guitar and bass tracks down so I can play over the top of them. I don't want anything to technical or loaded with every feature known to man. I just want to be able to plug my guitar into a device that's plugged into my pc and then record. Then go back and edit and combine with other tracks.

Can someone please give me some ideas on what to get?

Thanks

"Goosing" your amp with a pedal...questions
by atarilovesyou on Mon Mar 26, 2007 2:01 pm
So here I go....back when I picked up an MXR Dist+ pedal, I put it through my clean channel expecting to INSTANTLY sound like Randy Rhoads. Of course that didn't happen...but then..

I turned on the crunch (amber) channel of my JSX and turned the level WAY down on the MXR, dimed the dist and sllllowly brought up the level on the MXR. The crunch on my amp was set somewhat minimal, not a hell of a lot of distortion.

The result was an AMAZING similarity to Randy's tone!

Back in the day I remember when I relied on Boss pedals for distortion, and I remember the effect of turning on that pedal while my amps distortion channel...howling screaming noise! Solid state, at that.

But when I read about so many players using something like a Tube Screamer with non-master volume amps, I think I finally understand the concept. I tried a Tube Screamer way back too, and thought it sounded like crap...clean channel, that was the problem! Wonder what it REALLY sounds like!

So is that the case, players used distortion pedals in ADDITION to their amps distortion for a little extra ooomph?

When I hear of people using a Metal Zone in addition to their amps distortion, I have to wonder what the hell they're thinking...but perhaps it's not as silly as I once thought.

Any thoughts?
