Harmony used by Chuck in Death?
by TomaS on Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:25 pm
Can anyone tell me what kind of harmony he uses? I can't get enough of it! It's got this cool erie feel to it. Times i've tried to make harmony parts they end up sounding way too power metalish for my liking..
Anybody?
ever wonder how to connect those scale boxes?
http://shredacademy.com/lessons/j_cefalu.htm
this is really helpful. it takes you away from the "box" shapes and opens the fretboard to some crazy Ideas.
When jamming with my classic rock band, I've found myself in a blues rut, playing the same licks over & over again. I asked my uncle (a seasoned player) about soloing advice & tips the other day. What I got back was the greatest thing I could've heard that made so much sense. Here it goes:
"When you solo, you are making your guitar sing. Using this metaphor, think about what singers do. They tell a story. Make your guitar sing a story. Remember when singing your story that the appropriate phrasing & vocabulary make the story go from something good to something great. Think about how you want to sing your story to the audience. It may help to have an introduction, a body, a climax & then a conclusion - but all solos have different formats to coincide with the song."
Hope this helps anyone else who may have been in the same situation.
Anyone else feel free to add to this.

help for a good setting suggestion for Metal Muff pedal
by Vince on Thu Jun 21, 2007 4:19 am
can someone who owns,,,or has played the Electro Harmonix Metal Muff pedal give me some good settings for it because it seems the more i try to find something good, it goes complete opposite.
for example, for some reason it works like a clamp or something,
it has no sustain whatsoever
like other stuff rings for a sec, but this pedal just feels like it straight cuts sound comepletely, so like i said, the sustain is really bad.
and i find that if i turn the distrtion knob up more than 3:00 it is just static and it sounds like s#%t. even with the boost turned down, and when you play it without boost, it sounds like someone is covering your speaker with a pillow.
im using it with a Randall RG75 combo and the distortion on there is good, but its also too pillow-covered sounding, good for bluesy stuff, but i like hi-gain that doesnt sound like static.
so some good settings for it would be nice to know, because alot of you on here seem to know your shi.t really well, so if you could help me out, it would be appreciated. thanks.
ive been working on this one for a long time, A LONG TIME. and the 1 part at the beginning i just cant figure out. its fast, but the picking and the pattern is strange. how does it work?
