OK Im trying to learn how to change chords properly....I have gotten close but no cigar
any tips??
Thanks Jordan
What are the proper names for these scales? These are the four scales I play the most in. Are they all just pentatonic variations? Apologies for my ignorance. (Written in the key of E)
I just call this the blues scale:
E G A Bb B C D
I use this for a lot of southern rock and Slash type stuff:
E G G# A B C# D
I should really know the name of this by now, but I always forget:
E F# G A B C D
I like this exotic, sinister sounding scale quite a lot:
E F G# A B C D (Eb works well in there, too)
Thanks. I just want to sound like I know what I'm talking about.
So I am looking at new amps, and I suck completely when it comes to amps. I wanted to ask is you guys knew any amps I should looking into that are pretty good. Between then 200-500 dollar price line.
I was also looking at a Krank Rev Jr. Stack, and Marshall MG15MSII Micro Stack. I am not sure about the Kranks price yet and I heard the MG15 was about 400 or so, but I wouldn't mind getting a mini stack if they are worth getting. What do you guys think?
I have my V tuned down to C# and I use it for Drop B too. Well I have 46-10 EB's on it right now, and their way to thin. So what would be a good guage. I was thinking either EB's Not Even Slinky's, the Skinny Top Heavy Bottom's, or the Beefy Slinky's. Which would have the closest string tension to 10's in E standard.
Beefy's = 54-11
Skinny Top, Heavy Bottom = 52-10
Not Even Slinky = 56-12
Spreadin' a little love...
for Fireball Ministry.
Jim Rota is a Dean artist and I really dig them, but no one here really talks about them.
So I decided to figure out some of their songs. Here's what I came up with for "He Who Kills."

Need help building speed...
by Alex! on Thu May 15, 2008 9:56 pm
I've been playing guitar for a good few years now (nearly 4) and I just haven't developed that much speed. I can't really play fast.
That's fine when I'm playing blues, but I'm also a metal player as well, and I really want to branch out into lead guitar.
I practice scales, trills and sweeps every time I pick the guitar up, but for someone reason even after about a year and a half of constant playing (1-2 hours practice a day, 2+ hours jamming around having fun 7 days a week) I still haven't developed much speed.
I realise I need to get a metronome to work on my timing as well, but what else can I do? Thanks guys
Singing and Playing at the same time.
For anyone who can sing and play at the same time.
What's the best way to practice this? Getting started, are there any easy songs that help practice?
Damn, I just broke my G-string!

First string I've broken on my 79. Crap, now I have to mess with it again
Edit: Actually, now I notice it was the D-string..
The Sleep tab - quick question
To those who know how to play "The Sleep"
is this a good tab? i mean it has 6 stars, but the person could have done that himself
is it worth learning? im mainly in it for the solo
does it look right to those who know it?

The sleep is THE GREATEST pantera solo ever lol
Any major BTBAM or Lamb of God fans around here???
Anybody have anything to say about these two amazing bands with 4 of the most talented metal guitarists arounnd?
Hey guys and gals.
I've got a quick question about practice and being in tune. I understand that we tend to practice longer when we are in tune, and that we take in theory much better and much quicker. However, I was wondering about something. Does it matter what tuning you are in while practicing, or is it just important to be in A TUNING at least.
The reason I ask is because I tend to play stuff like Iced Earth and Alter Bridge. So I'm contantly needing to change tuning from E-Standard Half-Step Down to something crazy like Tremonti's DADADD.
Thanks!
Shane
