Music, music, music, and more music, that is usually the topic of conversation with Charles. A self proclaimed music professor; Charles has loved music since the day he was born. At age 8 he heard Joni Mitchell's “Help Me” and it has been downhill or uphill (depending on how you look at it…lol) ever since. He released his first CD in 1993 with the group Radio Tokyo called “Songscape”. Then it was CD after CD. As a player and engineer, Charles has worked on nearly 100 albums (CDs…. as it is now called) with many heavyweights (and lightweights) in the industry and has toured with many as well. In 1999, he officially joined the Southern Rock Allstars. This band featured Jakson “Thunderfoot” Spires (formerly the drummer of Blackfoot), Dave Hlubek (formerly the guitarist and founder of Molly Hatchet), and Jay Johnson (formerly of Radio Tokyo, Rossington Band, and now a member of Blackfoot). Charles has received numerous awards throughout his career. Most notably the 3 Grammy nominations he received in 1999 and 2000. (View Discography Highlights below) He has been voted into several Hall of Fames. In 2002, Charles was voted into the Gritz' Bass Player Hall of Fame. It is a poll voted on by the fans of Southern Rock. “ That was a real shock and one of the coolest awards that I have ever received”, Hart said. Charles still tours and does studio work with the Southern Rock Allstars but also does additional studio work. His latest project is Thunderfoot. He was asked to join this new project by its founder and co-guitarist for the Southern Rock Allstars, Scott Mabrey. |
Although Charles endorses several companies, he really loves Dean Guitars. They work with their artists and care about the music. The company is about quality products and how their products influence players to make quality music. “I am proud to endorse Dean Guitars, they make me sound like a million bucks”, Hart said in a recent interview when asked about his stage gear. Remember …… it's all about the music.
