So I put my Dean From Hell on Craigslist yesterday for sale....
I check back a few hours later and I see a post a couple above it...
"Dongbag Darrel"
Now I didn't get a chance to view the post cuz I was too late and it had already been flagged for removal. But it just ticks me off. First off... Darrell has TWO L's...LOL!!! But seriously man... Even if you don't like the man... Maybe he parties too much or is too wild for your taste... You STILL CAN'T deny his talent!!! You say Dimebag sucks all day long... But not at guitar!!! There is NO DENYING that. Like him or not he was an AMAZING guitarist.
There are several guitar playing I wouldn't exactly buy their record... But I would NEVER say they sucked. They have plenty of talent. Hell I may even go above an beyond and admit Curt Cobain had talent.
Anyway... That's enough of my rant... It just made me a little angry that someone posted that ya know... First off... He's dead... Leave him alone... Secondly... He didn't die like some of these other idiots of a drug overdose... His life was senselessly taken ON STAGE... And lastly... Like him or not... You CAN'T say his playing sucked. You'd sound like an idiot yourself. I don't particularly enjoy Van Halen but I would listen to Eddie play all day long.
I'm glad I didn't get to see that post. The title was enough to get the blood pressure soaring. Ignorant little bastard

I had this 333 in my watching just because I have the natural back version, and was curious to how much they sell for these days;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320570352511&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
To say I was surprised was an understatement!
Personally, I think the natural back is far more desirable.
Weirdly, it sold for the same as this D3!;

Some pantera riffs with PodFarm
by audiox on Sat Aug 21, 2010 4:13 am
I recorded a big bunch of pantera riffs yesterday, since it was dime's birthday and all
So i kinda tried to match the tones of the original tracks.
Used the same preset on everything, but EQ'd differently on some of the songs.
There's a small BLS clip at the end, and i think that one turned out the best.
There's a better description under the video itself.

Riffer Madness - opinions?
by zorrow on Sun Aug 08, 2010 11:54 pm
I've been listening to Pantera lately and I'm liking them more and more...
You know, back then when they became famous I thought they were too mainstream for me, so I discarded them --sadly, I must admit. I rather listened to Annihilator, Testament, Fates Warning, Crimson Glory, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Death, Carcass... and Megadeth (Ha! Was I actually that anti-mainstream after all? )
Anyway, I overlooked all the fuzz about Pantera, and it's just now I'm starting to appreciate how good they really were, as well as what a sheer character and a great player Dime was.
So said, I would like to explore his playing style a little more, just to sharpen my chops and having some guitar-related fun.
I read somewhere Dime himself recommended his own book "Riffer Madness" to get into his style. I want to ask to the experts here: Can I really get a grasp of Dime's style by going through his book? What are your opinions about it?
Thanks in advance for your help and insights!

if so would you be willing to burn me a copy or direct me to where i can get one.
I haven't been on here in forever but anyway, I just have a question that i want some of your guys' opinion on. I was on some other forums lately and for some reason it seems like everyone acted like Dime was "not that good" or "wasn't that influential". I know everyone has their opinions, but when so many big bands and guitarists out there point to Dime as one of their major influences, how can people say things like that? Anyway I'm definitely staying on here more often where people can appreciate a true guitar god

Any OG Dime Fans Here ? - Pre-CFH Era Fans
I know some of you Texas boys are true Dime OG's. I'm just wondering if there are others out here that were fans from the very beginning? If you had never heard of Pantera before Cowboys From Hell, you're about 7 years late to the party.
My story, I found Pantera thru Dean......... not the other way around as most people pick up on Dean guitars after discovering Darrell and Pantera.
The guitar in my avatar <--------- is my 1982 Dean ML that I had custom built for me back in my high school days. That guitar cost me every penny I made for an entire year. After I received the guitar in mid-82, I was poking around a cool little eclectic record(and head) shop here in Tulsa called Starship. They had a whole section of Heavy Metal stuff from bands you had never really heard of, lots of NWOBHM stuff. Well anyway, right after I got my Cherryburst 1982 ML Standard, Pantera's Projects In The Jungle had just came out. There is was in the bin with a cartoonlike painting of a band rocking out and the lead guitar player has MY EXACT GUITAR !!!!. I had to buy the record album as any guitar player who played a guitar just like mine had to be cool....... LOL. That album by the way starts out with the song, "All Over Tonight".
Anyway, here's my record collection complete with the original Pantera fan club and merchandise flyers from inside. These albums were all purchased back when they came out, not hunted down and collected. They are all on the Abbott family label, Pantego Records, recorded in Darrell's dads(Jerry Abbott) studio, Pantego Sound.
Some of my favorite songs to play on guitar still today are from these albums:
Over And Out
Heavy Metal Rules
All Over Tonight
Down Below
Come On Eyes
etc.
etc.
etc.

Squeals
by EMG3KGT on Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:31 am
Just curious, how much did the digitech Wh-1 whammy pedal have do do with Dime's high pitched squeals?
I can definitely get the squeals, but they do not have nearly the sustain or the pitch that dime was getting out of his guitar, im really after being able to get that super high pitched make your ears bleed sound he gets at the end of Cemetery gates.
I'm only 14 right now, but when i get a beard long enough off my chin, im going to dye the end of it red like dime.
Anyone have this beard? Post your pictures!
Thanks
Hey guys,
I figured this would be the place to go considering I hate selling on eBay. I bought this unit for my studio some years ago and was trying to implement it in to my guitar rig but I've found it just doesn't suit my sound.
It works perfectly, however there is a nut and washer missing on the low output jack. It still works but you just need to grab a replacement nut and washer at a hardware store to replace it. It was like this when I bought it but I always used the high input so there was no need for me to fix it.
I've thoroughly tested this unit and aside from the missing nut it is flawless. Some rack rash (what piece this old doesn't?) but in otherwise great cosmetic shape as well as functional.
I'm asking $400 shipped in the continental US. I will ship overseas but will have to charge shipping. I paid $500 for it originally and these are getting even rarer these days. Let me know if you are interested.
Nick

It's a cheapy without a floyd... But what the hell man... I don't have the money right now... Those of you who got to know me know you all recently convinced me to take lessons so I started that yesterday and it was $120 to sign up so basically the wife told me "NO!"
Anyway... I'm sure someone in this forum may want it for the sake of Dime memorabilia... And at that price... WTF!!!
So I pass this on to you... I dunno if the kid is willing to ship or anything but it never hurts to ask

So here's a little story I dug up about Pantera more than Dime.
We'll tell you what the state of "heavy metal" is - it's dented.
Nothing that couldn't be repaired, thank goodness, but Lord Stanley would not have been amused.
You may remember the story: The 108-year-old Stanley Cup was damaged two years ago during a wild party in Texas, of all places. Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul recalls the victory bash he hosted for his pals the Dallas Stars. They'd won it in six, rallied by a fight song he wrote called The Dallas Stars Theme Song. No sense in getting fancy. It worked - a testament to the rallying power of heavy metal.
There was much rejoicing.
"We had a little party over at my house after they won the Cup," Paul says. "They felt my song helped propel them to win, so they brought it over to my house. The entire team came, and at one point, Guy Carbonneau decided he wanted to toss the Cup off the balcony into the pool."
The shot went wide. "It went DINK! on the side before it went in. That's how the infamous dent got in the Cup. It just knocked it out of round, kind of made it more oval down at the bottom," he laughs.
There was a brief uproar, but the Cup-keeper soon hammered it back in shape and all was well.
Do not expect to hear The Dallas Stars Theme Song when Pantera performs Monday night at the AgriCom. There will be some Oilers in the crowd, says Paul, who's tight with several players on the team.
I suppose we ought to talk about music at some point here, although the drummer even talks like a hockey player. As the guy in the band who does most of the interviews, Paul serves up quotes of the "we-came-to-play-today" variety. In a way, a heavy metal band is just like a hockey team - except Pantera scores every night.
The band is touring in support of its latest album, Reinventing the Steel, "the best record we've ever made," Paul says.
It's the band's first studio album in four years, a delay explained by the fact that Ozzy Osbourne called to say he was getting Black Sabbath back together and would be delighted to have Pantera open the tour. They couldn't say no. Black Sabbath was the reason Pantera got into heavy metal, just as Pantera inspires the young headbangers of today.
"Music is just like a big chain that keeps following itself," Paul says.
There's a simple secret to Pantera's success as road warriors for the last 12 years - "Drink all the f---ing water you can!" Yes, but something else, too. Featuring vocalist Philip Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell and bassist Rex Brown, Pantera is a band more concerned with live shows than selling albums. It seems so rare these days.
"We've never been a band that has had major mainstream radio," Paul says. "You don't see us on music television very often. Playing live is what we're all about. When we write songs, we're thinking about how it's going to move the audience. We're proud of the fact that we've been able to do what we do the way we do it without having to conform to whatever the trend is.
"These rap metal bands that are going to sell four million records, two years from now there's going to be another trend and their career is over.
"We're really happy about the way we did it. We don't get as much notoriety, but to me, we're like the Black Sabbath of this decade. Our fans are always there for us."
In other words, they play to win.
This is, by the way, Pantera's Edmonton debut.
"It's going to be a blast, man," Paul says. "It's our first time and we're going to blow the roof off the place."
Just don't damage any Oilers relics at Northlands or there'll be hell to pay.

What's up fella's...
I'm planning on getting the Dimebag tribute tatt and I'd like to top it off with his autograph beside it... Kind of like the seal-the-deal Dime did with Ace...
Problem is... I can't seem to find a good enough shot of his auto. It's always on something and the main focus is what it's on.
This is the closest I can find it's it's not clean and clear enough.
Anyone got a better shot?
