Oddball Dime ML: Not Dean, Not Hamer, ??
by formula73 on Sat Apr 02, 2005 8:44 am
I apologize if this has already been covered, but does anybody know anything about that ML that he had back in those old Randall ads? I was just watching the Pantera 3 Vulgar Videos from Hell and was reminded of it. It's got a reverse 6 on a side small headstock, reverse sharkfin inlays, and an epilepsy-inducing 80s multi-colored paintjob. What the hell is this?!

I met a guy who is the original owner of a Randall Century 200 II in mint condition with the original matching Randall 4x12 cabs with the Jaguar speakers. I am currently running an RG100ES into a Marshall cab with Vintage 30's and I was wondering if anyone here has had a chance to play the Randall cabs with Jaguar speakers. I am curious about how they sound.
Culprit arrived today...
by Jed Anderson on Tue Apr 05, 2005 4:12 pm
I was a lil sceptical about getting the culprit because it didnt mean as much to me as the other dime guitars do, ......although i was pleasently surprised that washburn have made a very good guitar. - when it arrived it had one fine tuner screw missing.... so i pinched the one out of my randy rhoads jackson.... set the guitar up to how i like it...(some looney had it in drop tuning) reset the floyd and pickup height then all was perfect - now to try it out... wow just putting it over your head you feel how good a strap positioning it has then i plugged it into my new digitech ''death metal'' pedal and jangled about for a bit on clean fine tuning it....... then ...STOMP!!!! bloody ell who left the pedal level all the way up lol ...man this this has so much gain and crunch, dont know what pickups it comes with but they are chrome and polished like a mirror...they are good. - the harmonics on it are sharper and more murderous than my deans and confed's .....all in all - excellent guitar, only saw dime play one once tho Sad cant wait to play it live. -.....im thinking hmmmm what dime guitar bargain will i find next Laughing i'll take some pics later if u guys are interested in my wash'rag lol - im not biased on the whole dean verses washburn thing ....cos if you can make any guitar even a pile o junk make good noises then u shouldnt care.... if you like a guitar you just like a guitar if its cheapo/well built or not.

Dimebag sculpture.
by JCM900 on Wed Apr 06, 2005 8:22 pm
From Blabbermouth (I know a lot of folks here don't like the source, but it's news) :

KnuckleBonz, Inc. announced today their plans to create a Dimebag Darrell sculpture for the Guitar Hero limited edition collectible figure series.

The Guitar Hero series is a collection of rock's most highly praised guitarists, sculpted in great detail and cast in poly-resin. The series is designed to be a tribute to acclaimed guitarists who have made their indelible mark on music history. All figures in the series are officially licensed.

"He's pure, raw energy! Even now… and we want to make sure Dime shines forever louder, even more than before. He gave us all so much!" says Rita Haney, longtime girlfriend of the late Dimebag Darrell Abbott. "It's important that Dime be remembered in a way that his fans will appreciate. We feel this sculpture is a fitting way to remember his talent, his character, and his accomplishments."

The Dimebag sculpture will display the legend with his "Dean from Hell" Dean guitar. Each figure is hand-painted/numbered and displays a certificate of authenticity on the base of the sculpture. The Dimebag Darrell figure is only offered in a limited edition quantity of 3333 worldwide.

The KnuckleBonz artistic team is striving to capture the artist's likeness and his spirit through the medium of sculpture. Since the beginning of the series, requests from collectors worldwide have poured in for a Dimebag Guitar Hero.

"We are incredibly honored to be working with the family to create a meaningful tribute to Dimebag," states Tony Simerman, President and Creative Director of KnuckleBonz, Inc. "Like most of Dime's fans, I was introduced to his playing on 'Cowboys from Hell'. It started there, but I still say the 'power groove' on 'Vulgar Display of Power' is the most perfect metal since the first six SABBATH albums."

"When we first discussed the project with the family, they were pleased to know that the KnuckleBonz crew had a production meeting in late November of last year and determined Darrell was the best choice to be the 4th figure in the Guitar Hero series," says Simerman. "It was simply a matter of finding the best way to approach Dime. As we now know, that was just two weeks before his death. We recognize that this project is both an honor and a big responsibility."

Scheduled for release in fall 2005, the Dimebag sculpture will be available for pre-order in April 2005. The sculpture is currently in pre-production using highly skilled artists to capture a remarkable likeness of the celebrated guitarist.

Pricing and Availability: The Dimebag Darrell Guitar Hero limited edition sculpture will sell for $99 and can be purchased via www.guitarhero.net. Pre-orders will be accepted in April 2005. See the company's website for further details on pre-ordering and shipping information. Customers can subscribe to our email list to get more product information and exact dates for pre-orders and product availability by emailing info@guitarhero.net.

We'll I called my dealer a couple days ago to check the status on the Razorback deliveries and he said it is mid june for sure. I'm kind of bummed. When I ordered it back in February he told me between early May and mid June with a remote possibility of late april. He still has a great shop and hope to do business with him again, just a bummer. Now we have to wait till mid June!!!!

Quote:
why you be hatin on EMO. Emo saved rock music. Metal is trash and Deadbag Darrel was the worst guitarist. The best thing he ever did was switch to Washburn because deans suck taint.

You should listen to new found glory and white stripes because jack white is the best guitarist that ever lived.

Dean with Razorback number one
by Faust on Tue Apr 12, 2005 6:44 pm
I found another good pic in my archives. This is a picture of Dean Z with the first Razorback. He was explaining how he built it by hand in his garage using a Hardtail neck (note the inlays). This was a very pensive moment for all of us... it was hard to hold back the tears when Dean was talking about making that guitar for Dime....

Sorry about the giant pic... I wanted to keep the detail.

Dunlop CFH Wah/535 Q Is There A Difference?
by JACKHOLE on Wed Apr 13, 2005 11:23 pm
Is the CFH wah signifcantly different than the 535 Q wah.I have a 535 Q,but was thinking of getting the CFH if it has a wider sweep, wilder sound, etc. The two look almost identical, with the exception of the paint job and the jack setups.I tried the Musician's Friend audio samples, but they don't give much as far as a realistic idea as to the difference.Any help you guy's could give would be appreciated.

My Humble Tribute to a true Hero
by gheoss on Thu Apr 14, 2005 8:08 pm
Yeah, i was thinking long time ago to get a Dime Tat, and in Dec 23 2004 got it.

Dime was a huge influence on my playing, back in 1990 i was like.. mmm what style to play? metal for sure but i like everythig.. y must decide, and listened to CFH,,, that was a blast!!..
Then in 93 i met the guys, Dime was very kind, he wore my band t-shirt for the whole show, that was amazing, even, we talked a lot after show, drinking and s#%t, he signed my Ibanez S540 and asked me how the hell i got the Jamez Hetfield signature on it too.. haha he was a very down to earth guy. Long story short, in 95 the came back to Argentina, and we came across (in an avenue) he remember us and we ended the night drinking again in a local club.
I was in heaven, i mean meeting your mentor and hero, and most of all, realizing that he´s like you, not a frippin snob.

well here´s the ink (i think ive posted it somewhere else before but wth)

RH200G2 vs. X2
by phil2 on Sun Apr 24, 2005 6:07 am
I finally got to try both amps out

X2 was good but not what I expected not too much gain and no bottom end compared to my RH200. Setup pretty straight forward which is a plus but still.

Rh200G2SC

This is one of the best amps ever they took RH200 already badass amp and made 10 times better

The Gain Tone the sound dear god.

Shred like crazy on it

plus the addtition of the voicing switch made it that much better

Hands down the best amp in my opinion for balls to the wall metal with a shred twist.

I will be purchasing one soon

Plus the good thing is I live in Washington

I play it in canada so I will be taking advantage of our money being worth more

price new was 459.99

Figure it will be about 369 to 379

by marker on Tue Apr 26, 2005 2:22 am
man, some people are unbelievable. I was bidding on the 1981 dean on ebay. The price was 500 something when I started bidding. I had to go up to a thousand bucks before It would let me be high bidder. So I get out bid by a couple of people, and don't bid again. Then I get an email from some guy, boy, who said, quit jacking the price up dumbass. He shouldn't have emaild me since he wasn't selling, and I was not buying anything from him. I responded back quite snappy since the guy was insulting me. He then email back saying, you don't know anything and it shows. Then, not knowing what was going on, and wanting to chill the situation out I email him back several times, being very polite, but ignored. I then reported him to the ebay people. I don't know if that guy is on this forum, but if you go by the name exo-metal and your email is phaserunner@hotmail on ebay, have the guts to post back, because I would like to understand why you insult me for no reason and get this attitude with me for just bidding. You guys ever have this happen to you? I felt like the guy was threatning me not to bid.

DFH on Ebay
by sklitz on Tue Apr 26, 2005 8:54 pm
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41435&item=7318120999&rd=1

Well boys it did not take long for one of these to end up on Ebay. The freakin' guitar has not even hit the streets and look at what has already happened.
Isn't there a rule that Dean Dealers can't be doing this sort of thing on Ebay. This is not any old guitar we are talking about, this is a DFH! Dean should take his allocation away from him and give it to another dealer.
This is just straight up BS I say..

got the rg100
by marker on Wed Apr 27, 2005 5:50 pm
Well, the rg100(es) showed up today! This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you switch the channels? Is it footswitch only or is there another way? Mine did not come with a footswitch, so I might be screwed for a while. I have not had a chance to plug it in yet, but am anxious to get home from work and crank it up! It is one of those old carpeted rg100's, so now all I need to get in a furman pq3-4, either one. Thanks guys! Smile

dean logo like on dimes shirt
by j.arledge on Fri Apr 29, 2005 12:55 pm
you know how he had the krank amps/ dean guitar logos on the back of his shirt. I think they should sell like an iron on version of the dean logo so you could make your own.
