May 2005
Hey everyone, new to the forum but longtime Dime fanatic. I just got a warhead 150 watt combo amp. My room is too small right now for a full stack. I was wondering if anyone can give me some good settings using the built in 9 band EQ for a nice metal tone. I know it won't be possible to replicate Dime's sound, but just a solid thrash tone using the EQ to clean it up a bit. Also, if anyone has this combo, is it any good, sound? sustain? Thanks.

Me and the girlfriend just got back from a weeks holiday in the Dominican Republic, weather was nice, hotel was nice but one of the main highlights was passport control entering DR!!!
Passport control a highlight i hear you say!!
Yep, i walked up to the guy on the desk after a 9hour flight from the UK and no sleep in 24hours so i was feeling a bit crap, he takes my passport from me and looks at it, then looks at me and says "You like Dean?" I was like " hell yeah!!" he had obviously spotted the Dime tribute shirt I was wearing
then he said "RIP Dime" and we had a little chat about Dime and he said he had seen the shirts on the Dean website If you are that guy at passport control and you are reading this, thanks, you made my day

Hey wass up people,I am new here but I'v red the board since a few months now.I ordered a Dime Razorback two tone and like a lot of you guys I can't wait to get that Babe home!!But RN I got a question for you. What kind of neck should I expect from the Razors(it is my first Dean)what do you have normally on a ML: fast neck, thick neck??I'm use to fast almost flat neck( I love it)I play with Ibanez Wizard neck.My other worry is the Floyd Rose cause, again, I use Ibanez Floyd(I think they call it Goto)and they are xtremely good. But man, I just can't wait to put my hands on my first Dean I wish I could afford a USA but I am hopping for the best with the MIK.
See ya!!
fbd guitar giveaway opinions
just wanted to say thanks to everyone from dean who was involved with this project..
wish i could have won but never won anything in my life except a few drinks from companys like pepsi etc. and a pair of little feat tickets that i didnt go pickup.
my input is.... how many people think we all should of had a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place prizes for the runners up?
i thought it would have been a great idea but maybe if theres another dime guitar giveaway maybe they'll do something simular to that next time.
I hope so
congrats to the winner treasure every moment with it
You, are the new # 2...
by paulbag on Thu May 05, 2005 4:29 am
well, i've got to say these last two days have been two of the best days of my life. yesterday, custom shop death angel. today, FBD! this is my first DEAN and the thing is killer for sure. i'm really looking forward to my first usa dean ml now, cuz even though this was made in korea it's pretty GOLDARN' sweet. super low action, almost right there with the death angel and just a very slight tint of a buzz hitting open e power chord, thats it. plays VERY fast, bending is just a touch stiff. so a pretty good setup right outta the box. i was kinda surprised at how little packing was in the box, just a few pieces of paper between the box and the case of the guitar! but it's in excellent shape. this is my first experience with a DIMEBUCKER pup and "i like it alot!" pinch harmonics are so easy to obtain you have to be careful when your not looking for one! (yesterday i also got a bill lawrence l500xl from fed-ex for my dime 333, looking forward to hearing that thing too. ) neck pup sounds great for clean stuff also. the quad sticker isn't bad, it looks fine. the brazillianburst finish is real sweet too. very happy with this axe, so to all who ordered, i don't think you'll be disappointed. this has just obtained 2nd axe status in my arsenal! hey mat, how does yours play?
Paul Crook - The QUEEN musical 'We Will Rock You'
Guitarist Paul Crook (ex-ANTHRAX, SEBASTIAN BACH) has sent the following message to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"I really enjoy my work with [the QUEEN musical] 'We Will Rock You'. It's been running in Las Vegas since August 2004 and I perform eight shows a week. I can't believe how much satisfaction I get when I plug in that Red Special and play those guitar solos. I think most of it has to do with the love and respect I have for my boss, Dr. Brian May. This man continually amazes me with his kind heart and gracious manner. His lack of ego is incredible. He is voted by Guitar Player magazine as one of the greatest guitar players to ever walk the earth and he doesn't even realize it or care!
"This brings me to another point: Dimebag Darrell, another extraordinary human being. His energy was beautifully bright. His guitar playing was terrifying and he didn't care either. When in his presence you were treated with respect, 'southern hospitality.' It didn't matter who you were or what you did. He wanted you to feel welcomed and most of all he wanted you to laugh.
"At the theatre backstage in Las Vegas, I have several photos of Dimebag taped to the outside doors of my locker. I see him every time I go to open them and I give him the horns every night before I hit the stage. As I'm looking at him with horns, I say to myself, 'For the next two hours I am going to play to the best of my ability with as much passion as I can.'
"Last night (May 4) was extra-special for me. Thanks to Brian May, Dimebag made his debut at the theatre during the song 'No One But You'. As the song is performed, images of fallen rock stars are shown on these huge screens. What's so great about Dimebag's segment is that it's a video. The video piece is of Dimebag ripping up the fretboard during the song 'Domination' from the PANTERA concert in Moscow. It brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful gesture from Brian. A mutual love and respect from a fellow human being/guitar player. There Dimebag was, lighting up the stage, as usual. There he'll always be.
"I can't wait to get to work tonight so I can see my friend again."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I must say that I've always loved that Domination vid/solo.
He flys across that fretboard effortlessly and that trade mark 'horse' squeal/dive bomb at the end just gets me going.

The FBD I just got is my first guitar with a trem system, a Licensed Floyd to be exact, I don't know too much about it, it would be helpful if someone could tell me everything I need to know about it's upkeep as far as strings and tuning is conserned, when I get my first set of new strings for it ill probubly take it into the shop and let the guitar tech there do it, and ill watch him do it.

I recently bought a PQ-4 on ebay and ive heard that making a parametric eq sound good and getting it all tweaked up is a tricky business. Well...after reading the manual 2 or 5 times ive come to agree with that opinion
If any of you Parametric eq vets are willing to lend a hand it would be greatly appreicated. whenever i power it up i have to turn my amp settings down all the way to stop the overload light from blinking, and it will only put out a low volume no matter how high i turn any of the knobs. I have it set on high input and output. Any Suggestions or settings you guys use (Especially to get the cowboys sound)?? Im running it through a RH 200 and a randall cab
Thanks alot
Charles
I just bought a PEQ2200 and was wondering if anyone can give me some guidance or tips on dialing this thing in. I have a warhead and an MXR 6 band graphic EQ. I was just curious if anyone can give some good settings for the EQ's. I read it's definitely better to run the parametric EQ's through the FX loop, and was wondering if the same is true for the MXR 6 band. Thanks.
Question for Dean, or Elliott, regarding Dimebag
Is there any chance you will release either online, or on DVD, the rest of your video footage of Dimebag? Those two part interviews you released with Dime's testimonial regarding his highly enthusiastic return to "Dean" were great videos. It would be great to see MORE footage, and possibly even the full show you guys recorded.
I'm sure the demand would be high , and maybe you could donate the money made to the family or Dimebag fund ?
I hope you will consider doing this as the fans , including myself are hungry for this stuff.
Thanks for reading ............

Bill Lawrence/Dimebucker question
by sklitz on Tue May 10, 2005 1:18 pm
I know that Dime at one point was using Bill Lawrence PUP's back in the day. I'm assuming he used them before he designed the Dimebucker. Is it safe to say that no Dime USA models will carry Bill Lawrence Pup's just Dimebuckers?
Is the Dimebucker spec much different from the Bill Lawrence Pup's he was using in the past?
Can someone shed some skin on this...
Thanks!

Drop me a line
Sorry Dudes! Don't know if my last email made it through, but just coming up to talk about the Nathan Gale thing I posted. I wasn't really thinking about what I was doin, cos I was pissed off. BAD!
See, I'm only 14 and all the only bands that I want to go and see were and are Pantera, Damageplan, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, BLACK SABBATH. You know, all the good bands. So I saw Metallica at Earls Court on the St anger tour, which was frippin cool. (At that point I wasn't really into Pantera, I'd only heard one song:I'm Broken) Then, in July (last year) I got the opportunity to go to the metal hammer awards in London. That was frackin awesome, everyone was there: Slayer, Damageplan (Including Darrell), Bruce Dickenson, Nikki Sixx, Chimaira, InFlames and a bunch of other dudes! But none of these nads actually played, they were just there to get awards. So when Dimebag came up to get his best guitarist award I was like 'who the %$#@! is Dimebag Darrell' and why didn't Kerry King win it? So he came up on stage and he was smashed out of his face, he even through his award into the crowd, which made a loud banging sound. He couldn't speak he was so drunk. So anyway whilst on holiday in America I decided to check ut some Pantera albums and see why he won this award. So I bought their greatest hits and the first thing I noticed was Planet caravan and hole in the sky, the black sabbath covers. The first two tracks on that album were cowboys from hell followed by cemetary gates. And I swear those two songs, those two solos changed my life. I completely forgot about every other band I had ever liked, my life was now fixed on Pantera. Dime's solos are so frippin cool.
So after I found out that Pantera had split up, I wanted to go see damageplan. Then somebody killed Darrell. Then recently my mum told me that I ouldn't go to Download. So I could never see Pantera, I can now never see Megadeth as its there last gig (apparently) and Black Sabbath wont exactly be lasting for that much longer, cos lets face it Ozzy aint got much left in him.
And I guess all this just got me pissed off.
Sorry Dudes!
Someone please give me a solo to learn! I need more solos!
Dime's Career Guitar-Dimebolt Is it really 10 grand!!?
I went to a guitar show at the beg of May and it had a Dean shop/stand there. All over it were Dime's guitars and at the top was the original Dimebolt. But i wasn't allowed to play on it because the guy sed it was worth 10 grand. But it looked frackin sweet, I even got a pic of it but I need to wait for those to develop. But I did get 2 play on the dean with th flame finish on it. That guitar was so easy to play, the action was all set up nicely. And the shape felt so frackin good to play wiv. At the moment I got a les paul shape. Its an ESP KH3, so it aint exactly ur average les paul. But Dean guitars kick ass compared to ESP!
How Do I delete my fuking stupid thing about Gale? Hurry before someone tries to kill me!
How did you get your Dimebag gif, the one of him playin domination in Moscow?
My DFH & Crown Royal
by sklitz on Thu May 19, 2005 8:53 pm
Well fellow Dime fans I know the time is approaching when we all will be jamming on Dime Deans soon. Some of you are already doing so through Musicians Friend.
I have my deposit on a DFH and when it does come it I have some Crown Royal put to the side to share with some friends. I plan on embroidering the Dimebag Tribute crest on the Crown Royal bag and keep it my guitar case as a keepsake. I will post some photos when all this goes down.
Later..
I know this is the Dean forum, but I'm just curious if anybody has played one of the Jackson USA models. I have read reviews saying their necks are remarkably fast and I've always wanted to try one out, so anyone care to share?

hey dudes, I was just wondering if there was a dealer for dean parts, like truss rod covers. Also was wondering if the stickers that are coming on the tribute dimebag models will be for sale. Does anyone know? I have a tropical dfh and would love nothing more than to have a truss rod cover that said dimebag darrell signature series or the ones like on the new tribute dimebag models. Any ideas?
Well i have recorded it.Didnt have so much time to make it perfect but i did a try.I m playing for 4.5 years so dont expect anything good lol.The distortion is a bit sucky cause my amp sucks...my soundcard too lol. There are some riffs that didnt came out right but i couldnt be arsed to make a new tape again.Anywayz this site is hosted by a friend of mine and dont take serious what he is saying lol. Also u ll see the name Slash in there.Thats my nickname in my net- friends enviroment.U can download my other recorded songs as well. It's enter sandman and nothing else matters.Anywayz enjoy dudes and tell me ur opining about revolution...

Tribute shirts at Hot Topic
by cyd666 on Sun May 22, 2005 7:11 pm
Hey I just picked up a Dimebag tribute shirt at Hot Topic.... thought some of you guys might want to know that they have them.
How's it going people ??
I've been reading all the posts here for a while and i think its about time i made my own post !!
Oh also i have a question which i think has already been answered but i'll ask away anyway.
I bought a DFH about 3 weeks ago and i kept telling myself i have it it will come when its ready to come just try and forget all about it just put it out of your head. This worked for a week now i'm going nuts wondering what its gonna look like !!??
What do you dime lovers reckon ??? Do ya think it will resemble the prototype shown at the NAMM show ? I have a poster of the DFH and i think every time i look at it that it is the coolest most awesome guitar ever and i have thought this for 14 years now i'm gonna own one and i don't know if it will look identical or just a dean model based on this Dime axe ?
I have sent emails called up and stuff but never got half an answer so i'll be real curious to know what you all think.
Thanks a lot dudes.
Oh a consolation answer i'll also accept is a pill that makes you sleep for 30-60 days!
Dime still lives like he always did, in his music which is eternal.
I finally scored one of these things on ebay. I've read a bunch of posts saying it can be used in front of an amp or in the FX loop. I have a warhead and was wondering if anyone knows if it will sound better in front of the amp used in combination with the built in 9 band graphix EQ, or in the FX loop. Thanks guys.
To mods....post my damn tattoo :)
I have sent 2 emails to the mods with pics of my dime tattoo and for some reason it is still not in the Dean tat section. Any ideas why anyone?

Dimebag Museum?
by JACKHOLE on Tue May 24, 2005 10:38 pm
Here in Vegas they have the Liberace museum and we ended up there yesterday w/my Mother-In -Law.It had his cars, jewelery ,pianos, etc.,and it got me to thinking, why not a Dime museum in Dallas? They could display his guitars, amps, clothes, albums, etc. The proceeds of the admission price could go to charity, and Dime's legacy could be preserved for all.I'm not sure if this is feasable, but a guy can dream.
You've got to see this site! - Tribute to the Fallen

There's a web site called Tribute to the Fallen... it's a signature page for Dimebag Darrell... you can even add your own signature and a msg about dime. I think it's definetly worth looking in to and sharing. So go check it out and sign it. There is nothing to sign up for, you can just add your name too it. It's a great way to remember Dime.

Hey, this may have been asked already, but, what is the purpose of the tape on Dime's neck pickup? At least I think that's tape. They have it on the DBD Tribute Guitar, and I've seen it in pictures.
Dimebag dog calling squeals
i've been trying to nail the screams ,squeals and screeches produced by dime's difficult to learn tremolo arm techniques. I read his articles n` stuff but so far all i managed to accomplish is falling off the bed.
So i reckon i'm doing something wrong but i just don't get what i'm supposed to do, either that i need more practice in staying on the bed !
some of you dime fanatics have bound to have figured it out please could you give me some pointers ??
Cheers!
I finally found that Dimebag tone
Yesterday was my B-day. Went to a local guitar store and shopped around and they had a MXR Dime pedal there. I got it as my present to me, took it home and it sucked ass. Really nasty gritty sound with no EQ possibilities at all. Took it back this morning and traded it for a Digitech Metal Master distortion pedal. It sounded pretty badass through a Peavey XXL combo amp they had there so the guy said I could try it through my rig and bring it back if I didn't like it. I brought it home and plugged it in. Holy s#%t is all I can say. I am a devoted anti-pedal person but I needed to be able to switch between crunch and clean and anyone that knows how hard it is to find a switch pedal for an early Randall will tell you, they don't exist anymore. Back to the story with very minor tweaking It totally has the VDOP and FBD sound. Badass crunch with a TON of gain. The best part is, I have never been able to run a pedal through my amp at high volume without it making alot of feedback and screaming. With my hot pickups and amp cranked all the way it makes some minor line noise but thats it. Absolutely no feedback. I can let go of the guitar and it makes no noise until you hit the strings then its pure devistation. I recommend you guys try one. Its bad to the bone.
Dime always said that he would find his Deans in local guitar shops while on the road with Pantera.....well my bro went into a mom and pop shop in NY and for $99.95 walked out with this:
we are gonna eventually paint it just like the true dean from hell! and hang it on the wall next to my Dime tribute picture.
Ironically, he was at this particular guitar shop on 3/19...the day Randy Rhoads was taken from us
Whats the best distortion pedal that i can get?
i heared alot about mxr.........
Hey, any new info on Vinnie's future?
by Cazz on Fri May 27, 2005 4:31 pm
i was just thinking to myself, its been just over 5 months or so since the tragic incedent...
i know Darrells brother Vinnie must still be in shock, he lost his musical soulmate...thats harsh, he has jammed with other bands since, but will there be a new band that he is involved in the future? does anyone think so? or maybe have confirmation?
Dimebags tone with a line6 pod 2
Alright people, i`m using my new Randall WH40 and a line6 pod 2 i have some quite crazy sounds with the two major distortion and all that, does anyone around here use a pod and maybe know the best dial settings to get a dime sound ? i nailed a kinda floods sound but i still think with the equipment i have i could get better.
Since i got my amp i was thinking of selling the pod and getting an effect pedal or something but what i don`t know and it sucks that you don`t actually get to use the things first so its really a hit or miss with those pedals and with so many to choose from thats a lot of misses=lots of overtime to buy them.
The digitech whammy seems real popular or the mxr maybe i`ll buy one of ebay, let me know what you think dudes cheers.
Oh i tried to get a pic up beside my name n stuff but my pics are too big resolution any idea how i change that ?
And whats with the quote's after everyones post i looked in the profile settings and couldn`t find anything.
Right i could probably squeeze in a couple o more questions but i think i`ll quit for now.
Cheers again!
I was just doing my usual dimebag internet browse and i came across photos of his grave, i don't know how many of you guys here has seen it but i'm white in the face totally freaked out at the thought of Dimebag Darrell actually not being alive and buried at this grave.
Here is the link

beware scams on ebay
by paulbag on Sat May 28, 2005 4:51 am
beware on ebay...i recently bid on a guitar only to be sniped in the final seconds. since then (2 days ago) i have received numerous emails stating the winning bidder cancelled and i had the guitar if i wanted it. MAKE SURE the only ebay member you respond to is the actual seller and only communicate within ebay. hackers are trying to steal your password and financial info. god i wish i could get my hands on these bastards, i would love nothing more than to beat the everloving crap out of them. i'm changing all my info just as a precaution, i don't think they got to me but you can't be too careful...
With only 150 DFH's being made i would have thought that there was at least 10x the amount of dimebag/dean/dfh fans in the whole world who would have somehow either already have the cash or could get it and all guitars would sell in one day or so, but no they are still up for sale.
I know that $3,999 is a lot of money but surely investors and whatnot would grab them instantly.
There are at least 2 up for sale on ebay at the mo.
help.....amp.
by Rickyg on Mon May 30, 2005 1:56 am
im looking for a good amp that has an awesome metal tone. i really would like to get away with paying around $700 - $800. any suggestions?
ebay people.... honestly.
by Rickyg on Mon May 30, 2005 3:20 am
i know the subject of calling the ML a dimebag guitar has come up before, but this is pathetic. if you are going to call it a dimebag guitar, at least spell his frippin name right.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41435&item=7326725757&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
since when is that how you spell Darrell.

Just got my Holy grail washburn!!
Hey guys
I've had this deal in the works for a LONG time, since the beginning of march.
I was contacted by the seller who had a really cool and special guitar, the seller was in Japan.
The deal went FLAWLESSLY and I would reccomend if you need a RARE or hard to find guitar to get it there!
anyways here are the pics!
this is my fourth washburn and the neck on this one is THE absolute best, it feels EXACTLY like my friends 81 dean v BB
It's incredible and I just wanted to shar it even though it's not a dean!
Cheers guys!
Chris
