what delay setting on dimesqeal?
by Mobi on Mon Oct 02, 2006 4:58 pm
Hasebass if you're reading this, I'm having some trouble with holding the squeal when like I'm doing the hostile solo, you know which part I'm talking about. I noticed in your youtube videos that you use a delay for maintaining the squeal? Can you tell me how the delay is setup?

Thanx!

Pantera Live In Moscow
by muckers on Fri Oct 06, 2006 8:51 pm
Just watching the DVD that comes with Reinventing Hell (again) and every time I see Domination and Primal Concrete Sledge Live in Moscow (I think it's Moscow - the videos are b+w) the size of the crowd never ceases to amaze me.

Does anyone know what size the crowd was? It'd be good to put a figure to it. Smile

Thanks.
What did you do to pay tribute to Dime after the shooting?
by Blazer on Fri Oct 06, 2006 11:28 pm
Let's all share what we did in tibute to Dime when we heard about his death. In my case, it was just shock and disbelieve when I heard about it on the news.

My first reaction was "frippin hell, this can't be happening."

The most heartbreaking thing about this event I heard about was later, after the ambulances took away all the dead and wounded, according to a police officer, they found Vinnie Paul Abbott sitting at the bar clutching the guitar Dimebag was playing when he got shot and crying. A big biker metalhead with muscles like steel and tatoos all over crying over the loss of his little brother.

But my tribute to him came in April of last year, when I was attending the Frankfurter music fair in Germany. They had this Dimebag exhibit at the stand of Dean guitars and it was there: the ML that Dimebag played before he got shot and thus being the same Vinnie Paul was clutching mourning over the loss of his brother. I took off my KISS cap and took out my hair band, letting my hair droop and stood there in silence, making my own tribute. When I looked up I noticed that I wasn't the only one, there were a lot of metal guys who followed my example and had a minute of silence for a fallen comrade in music.

Help with BLUSA pups...
by 4x12 on Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:11 am
Ok, so I finally got my 2 L-500-XL's in and I installed one in my Washburn Dime V Pro and I don't find them that great! A little disapointed actually. I don't see where all the massive gain comments are comming from? 90% of my guitars are loaded with dimarzio Super3's that have an output of 435 (Dimarzio's 2nd highest output pup after the X2N thats 510) and I feel it's got more attitude than the BLUSA. The Super3's top end sounds darker but the low end isnt muddy at all... Also, the BLUSA thats in the Dime V pro gives out a lot of feedback depending what position I play in or where I am in the room. It could be fine in one spot and if I move 3 inches in what ever direction its "SQUEAAAAALLLLL!!!!" city!!

Did I screw up something while connecting it? Should I have output than this?? I need some help here... if this is all it's got then I got 2 BLUSA for sale.

I might try the other L500XL in a Fender axe loaded with a Dimarzio Evo and Dimarzio single coil...

So any help is welcomed.

So a while back 3/4 of Corruption of Blood recorded ourselves playing Cowboys From Hell, for shits and giggles...

Well, I was diggin through "the archives" and happened to find this tune and figured I'd share it with everybody here and see what you guys think of it...

So I found some random mp3 hosting site and threw it up there, I'll post the link as soon as the song finishes uploading into the site's song bank...

What are some other good places to put songs up like this though?

Projects in the Jungle
by slaytanic on Sun Oct 15, 2006 10:53 pm
Has anyone else heard this album? First time I heard it was back in around '96. I have to say that its some of Dimes best work. I can listen to it for hours and hours. Aside from the vocals on this album I really dig this one best, it truly shows Dimes talent, especially in Blue light turning Red. Its hard to say which is my favorite song, but Killers has a great riff. I think Im gonna try and learn all the early stuff.

Unfortunately I have none of thier glam albums anymore, except for Power Metal. I talking about the pre Phil ones. Does anyone have them on disc that might want to spread the wealth and send me copies? Ill pay for the discs and shipping if needed.

Pantera CD's...pre-Cowboys From Hell....who wants copies?
by TRENDKILLCFH333 on Tue Oct 17, 2006 5:20 pm
So there was another thread on the Dimebag tribute section about the pre-Cowboys From Hell CD's. They are: Metal Magic, Projects in the Jungle, I Am the Night & Power Metal.

I have all 4 of these on CD's. They kick ass for 80's glam metal!

I don't feel comfortable selling copies of these CD's for profit. That just ain't right. But I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like copies of these CD's, & I can't afford to give them all away.

So I'm starting a list of people who want copies of these. $5.00 should cover all 4 CD's & shipping (I figure $1.00 a CD & $1.00 for mailing). Contact me for payment.

These will be CD copies (poor man's packaging), mailed in basic envelopes, nothing special.

I am a huge Pantera/Damageplan fan. It's people that work at the Dean guitar company, people in this tribute section, & most of all the fans who still play Dime's music (guitar or CD player) that keep his memory alive.

If you would like a copy please post a reply & PM me with your address. I'm gonna give this thread till next Tuesday (10/24/06) for replies, then I'll burn all the CD's and ship by next Thursday (10/26/06).

2 years ago today at Dime's house October 23, 2004
by rockconcertfotos.com on Mon Oct 23, 2006 5:42 pm
Two years ago today I headed down to Dallas for a weekend with Dime, Pat , Vinnie and the Damageplan guys. October 23, 2004 we spent the late afternoon doing a photoshoot down the street from Dime's house, and the evening back at his place watching rehearsals, and did the first photo shoot for him with his new Krank and Dean gear. Later that evening, we hit Campo Verde's, Dime's favorite restaurant for rattlesnake fajitas and numerous tequila shots. This was the same night the photo was taken of us with the shot glasses on our bellies that appeared in Guitar World a few months later.
The following night was the Freakers Ball show with Velevet Revolver, Drowning Pool and many others, an amazing show, followed by an extremely drunk night at the clubhouse, that ended with me being kidnapped in Dime and Vinnie's limo and heading back to Vinnie's for even MORE drinking. The night ended dropping Dime and Rita off at home about 7am, and me having to be to the airport 3 hours later.... Shocked
Bitersweet memories that I will cherish forever.
Miss you like hell brother, and think about you every day !

Enjoy a few photos from those sessions from 2 years ago today....

I was flicking through some old issues of Total Guitar last night, and came across the August 2004 issue - the issue in which TG aimed to get a guest lesson from Dime as well as an interview.

Of course, Dime being Dime, he'd been up the night before drinking. And he was still drunk.

I thought I'd scan in the article (and for some reason I scanned the compo as well. Confused Laughing) for y'all to have a read of.

Hi there

Just one little question, whats the "big" diference beteew the Floyd Rose in the Dean ML 79F and the Dean CFH, FBD, DoF series etc etc?

I read in reviews realy bad things about the tremolo in the ML 79F series.

So is better to buy a ML 79F and put a Schaller Floyd Rose in it or its better to buy a Dean CFH, FBD etc etc series??

Well, I wasn't planning on doing anything this year, but I was sitting here thinking about it and looking around my room and settled on one of my Dime posters and figured it would be a good way to pay tribute.

I've got an FBD, camo shorts, and a PanterA shirt so I figured all I needed was the wig and a red goatee, and then it hit me. Two hours of looking for good pics of Dime's tattoos, two hours of drawing time, and several dead markers and pens later, I'm pretty happy with the result. Thanks to the girls down the hall who were artistic enough to pull it off. Its by no means a professional job, but considering the circumstances I think its pretty sick. Excuse the large pics.
