What happened to the Coors Dean?
Looking back at an old pic of Dime's gear with the
stack of Century 200s, I noticed between the FBD
and the DFH, there was the Coors Dean. What
happened to it?

Crap, if I had money at this time - this would be mine. So, I've lost my chance again...
Here it is, notice that the seller says it's dated 08-02-88. Also
seller said Dime "dismissed" the tolexed ones. LOL! I don't think so. he used ALL types of them throughout his entire career. It's evident in live shows, events and pics. What a sales pitch, huh? I am telling you guys, it doesn't matter what year they are. I have a 1985 one and a 1990 one. Sound 99% the same. Little difference in tone. Remember the Randall that Dime won was tolexed.

Dime playing a Jackson?
by JohnC on Sun Dec 03, 2006 3:58 pm
last night I was watching headbangers ball and on a couple of the pantera videos i saw dime playing an ML with a Jackson style headstock and inlays. Was it a jackson?
Never went so close to Dime's tone!
by 900XL on Mon Dec 04, 2006 1:10 am
Click on pics.
(see pq4 setting)
Pq4 on loop, mxr as booster in front, to me this combination sounds pretty close to Dime's tone. I'm waiting for a blue mxr eq that will arrive this week. a flanger doubler woul be great too!
Suggestions for some other settings??

Problems with Rg150es
by JohnC on Tue Dec 05, 2006 10:10 pm
Hey just got my new amp in today and there are some problems....there is a silvery-gold box inside with an in and an out on it. One of the cables going to it is cut, and there is no cennector. what is that box for? reverb tank? also, when i turn the treble knob, it buzzes and pops. Is this normal on this amp? Also it kinda sounds like a cell phone breaking up sometimes. Its been in 17 degree weather, so that might have something to do with it, but i dont know. Also the volume was like all the way down, so maybe thats part of the problem. It also just doesnt sound heavy enough... Any ideas?
CLIP: PQ3 vs. BBE sonic maximizer

Hi!
Here's a short comparison between a PQ3b reissue and a BBE 462 sonic maximizer.
Both were used in the loop of my rg100es (boosted with a mxr 6 eq).

Hope it helps

My band Drop D did a cover of The Temptations Get Ready. I don't have a dean, and this doesn't involve pantera or damageplan, But Dime is my guitar hero, and my playing is totally influenced by him. Check the dime squeels @ the end. I did use my Randall jaguar cabinet though, I love them. I'm the dead looking dude on the right.
Let me know what you think.

Zakk had a blown out throat which was bad but good in that it lead
to some interesting things which I don't think happens at
the normal show. He did sing a few songs but sounded kinda
scratchy. He got a few audience members to sing Fire it Up and had
the lead singer from Black Stone Cherry sing Stillborn. He played
quite a few long guitar solos Nick played the Rebel Razorback for
In this River. They did a toast to Dime and Nick held the up the guitar for all to get a good look.

DIME DAY?...i never would have thought
Everytime I want to say something about Darrell, I come up short.
I wanted to say something at his funeral, but I could think of nothing to say. There is nothing to say about Darrell that could not have been said by the look in his eye. Or the smile on his face.
If you were to cross paths with Darrell, if for one second, you would know, see & feel the presence of, Darrell. One hell of a cool, caring, loving soul. A word did not have to be spoken, it had been said already been said by the look in his eye, the smile on his face. The reason I can think of nothing to say, is because it has already been said. Better than words could ever describe.
Smile at somebody. Do something nice. If they ask you why you did it...
I will try to come up with a story for you guys later. Something special. BUT, just another day in the life of Darrell.
BLOW IT UP TODAY FOR SURE!!!
i cant believe its been two years. and it hurts more every day without him in the world. and i hope hes in a good place now.i could see hm now with those dean wings
What ever happened to releasing some new Dime-related material every year on Dec. 8th? I thought Vinnie said they were going to do that, or was it on his birthday? I thought I remembered him saying another Dimevision would be released this year, but obviously not. Has anybody heard anything?

Anyone have some info on this guitar? I can't make out the serial.
Dime's main recording guitar?
Just wondering if Dime had a particular guitar he favored for the recording process?
Yes, I full realize most guitarists use a plethora of guitars for recording tracks, but there's always the "one" that is a mainstay.
I would immediately think it would be the DFH.....anyone have any idea?

Just got back from a Dimebag Tribute gig. Man it ruled. We were almost refused at the door cos it was over 18's and we are 16. We went in and went straight to the bar, and got some blacktooths. The band were awesome they played every song perfecto! They played about 25 songs, and they were a brilliant choice.
Anyway, great gig, great night.

Is bullshlt, especially in here.
You know why I don't get in on the Dime-kid-bashing? Because I'm a Dime-kid, more or less, and even if I'm less vocal about it than some people here are, and even if my grasp of the English language is (a little) less tenuous, what happened to him is still bullshlt and there is no way to overestimate his impact on mainstream metal/rock guitar playing.
Whever somebody gets on here, the 'safe haven' for geeking out over Dime, somebody has to come and shlt in the kid's Cheerios.
"Everybody laugh at the 13 year old because he can't spell like I, a 40yr-old college-grad, can. Hahahahahahahaha!!"
"Everybody laugh at the 15 yr old who's trying too hard to fit in!!!! We NEVER ever tried to do that, not even once, ever, and never needed the chance to grow out of it on our own!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!"
"Everybody laugh at the 16 yr old who finally found an outlet other than beating people up or cutting himself to "let the pain out", even if he realizes there are more important things later in life!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!"
Don't you remember how much more intense everything was when you were a teen??? Damn, man. Cut these guys a little slack. Sometimes I wish little things were as important as they were when I was 14.
Hell, sometimes I get drunk with my buddies and we get a little misty-eyed over it. Especially when one of us decides it would be a good idea to throw on Dimevision or something when we're all bombed.
Go ahead, bash away. I can take it; I'm a big boy.

BLS December 8 Hollywood show Dime tribute photos
Here are a few photos from the December 8 show in Hollywood, taken during the highly emotional DImebag tribute In This River. I was of course honored to have my photos used during the show, but at the same time the sting of knowing why they were there forced me to leave the venue immediately following the song to regain my composure. The photo above Nick, I'm sure most of you are quite familiar with, as it has been used during the In This River Video, it was used on the exclusive Hot Topic tribute shirt, a fewe tribute ads in magazines, and i have seen literally hundreds of people that have had it tattooed on as tyheir tribute to DIME. It was definately a very touching evening, and a wonderful show, and an amazing tribute to our lost friend and brother.
Enjoy
Chad
I have lots more pics from the night that will be posted on my site later this week for viewing.

Dean ML '79 Reissue with "Rock and Roll Over" Stic
I guess I should be in the Dean "newbie" forum but I decided to post here. I bought a Dean ML '79 reissue from the "bay" and love the guitar. In honor of Darrell I put a KISS Rock and Roll Over sticker on it before I ever played it! (truth be known I ordered the sticker 2 minutes after winning the guitar on the "bay"). This guitar is A LOT of guitar for the money. The black with white binding is sweet and the previous owner installed a Dimarzio Quad rail in the bridge position and the pick up from his Razor in the neck position. The quad is pretty decent...but to make it an authentic tribute to Dime I may get a Bill Lawerence or Dimebucker.
Anyhow....here is a pic of the "weapon" as Darrell referred to them.....
Was Dimebag's tone "THE tone" ?
by rgx612a on Sat Dec 23, 2006 3:47 am
Is it the high gain metal tone to define all metal tones, or was it just a good tone? Or was it even a mediocre or a bad tone in your opinion?
I get alot of different responses from guitarist about this.... Some people think it's great and some think it's terrible and thin. There are very few in between on this issue...Me personally, i don't think it's the best metal tone ever, but i think it's a very unique sound and totally recognizable. You know it's Dime when you hear the first note. Kinda like Hendrix, Iommi or Rhoads, you know?
Objectively, i'll admit it's a little on the thin and harsh side at times, but still brutal, tight and punishing? Those drums and bass definitely help deliver the impact.
As far as my favourite metal tone ever, i'm going to say Crowbar "Sonic Excess In Its Purest Form". It's got that same Randall rg100es grind, but thicker...It's the heaviest tone i've ever heard, i love it!
Dime 333 "Pumpkin" Completed!
As I'm patiently waiting for my Deanslime (from Harley) I decided to have my Washy Dime 333 refinished (as I don't need 2 Slimes!)
I reckon it turned out ok....?!
Any thoughts....?
Rebel Meets Rebel Opinions?
What up all? I know I'm way behind the times here, but I just FINALLY bought Rebel Meets Rebel...personally, I think it is right up there with some of Dimes' best guitar work!! I really like the sound of this album and overall I think it's absolutely great. I love how many awesome leads he put into it, they sound a bit more Pantera-esque then some of the Damageplan stuff (even though I love Damageplan too.) I know this may have been a question on here when it came out, but I was wondering what did everyone else think of it??

*Note* The verse sounds a little out of pitch to me, that would be the bass in the backing track
Also, the ending goes out of time, I guess the backing track fading out meant that I couldn't hear it.
Where is the Dean from Hell?
Is it in a museum now? Is there some sort of Dean Museum they keep it in? Does Rita have ownership, being it was her mans' guitar? I've seen pictures of different people playing it floating around the internet over the past few years, and I just am wondering what has become of it, and of all Dimes' actual stage guitars, for that matter? Are they all in storage? I was just curious because I would love to pay homage to Dime by being in the presence of that most revered and celebrated Dean guitar...
was wondering how to post pron pics in a thread any help would be greatfull tony
Apologies if this topic is discussed everywhere already (if so, a mod can hopefully delete this topic or whatever).
Any ideas what USA stuff is coming for NAMM?
I'm hoping for either a new finish for a USA Razorback and/or a Dean Stealth
Anyone heard anything or alternatively is any able to 100% rule out either of my hopes?

Dallas Stars Fight Song ? some info please :)
by Ribal on Thu Dec 28, 2006 11:44 am
Hello
I went yesterday on a tab website and I find this tab : Pantera - Dallas Stars Fight Song
( you can take it here : http://www.tablatures.tk/download.php?id=Mzk2Nzk=&page=1 )
And a part of this tab ( it's surely a Pantera intro concert ) is Get Outta My Life ! ( from Rebel meets Rebel album )
So can it be possible ? When did Dimebag play it ? And does anyone have the bootleg of this song ? I enjoy to hear it live
thanks all !
Thanks !
What type of neck pickup is in the Razorbacks?
Is it a 59' Seymour Duncan?
An idea
by Goc on Sat Dec 30, 2006 4:17 pm
Ok, so here's the deal. I had this idea, and anyone is welcome to participate. In fact, I INVITE EVERYONE to participate. So, since we have so much fans of Dime's music, i thought we make some kind of a tribute website where people could put up their interpretation of dime's riffs, solos...even their own music inspired by Darrell. That way everyone could check everyone out, and exchange ideas, opinions and comments! Of course, it would be best to put up videos, but audios are welcome too! So, the more people we get to participate, the more fun it's gonna be!
Lemme know if anyone is up for it! Peace!
this really sucks...I was battling all of the problems of properly setting up a guitar so I went to school to learn how to fix the issues. I mastered most of the techniques besides properly adding the right amount of relief to my neck....does anyone have any tips on how I can correctly do this so it doesen't feel like i'm playing a piece of crap???
~Kyle~
This one from Ebay recently appears to look more like
a PQ-4 style. Could this green face one be a reissue
one?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=200061692322&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=010
There's like 3 different PQ-3s right? The original dark
green face one with bigger round knobs, the
black face one with same features as the original,
and this one posted above. The green face with
smaller knobs and with balanced inputs, instrument
input in the front, and footswitch jack. Am I correct
on this? Which seems to be the better one? All ok?
