by lotusguy2001 on Fri Mar 03, 2006 3:09 am
Just arrived I plugged it in, its broken! I think it is the switch , you turn it on, and it works, bypass it and nothing, play with the switch you can hear your clean tone, switch it repeat etc. It sounds very much like Dime like the dime distortion but better and beefed up, I am going to try to exchange it I suppose. I have been wanting to try the amps but I have 3 heads as it is and cannot spend 1600 sight unseen. If you want to get a flavor of the sound I guess try the pedal. Chris

Hey all, just wanted to get some pics up. They aren't the best because I suck with a camera, but this guitar looks way better in person. There isn't a flaw on her. That and it plays amazing right out of the box. No fret buzz and low action. Yes it has the V neck, and grover tuners. It is now my favorite guitar by far. On a side note---Yes I know my pants have snowmen on them. Friggin UPS woke me up and I was too excited to change.

When was the first time/or only time you saw Dime play live?
by Lanning is Killdozer on Sat Mar 04, 2006 2:11 am
I remember mine like it was last night. It was the end of 92' with Trouble and White Zombie at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. A few things that stick in my mind were that Dime threw a Beer into the crowd in my direction and we all caught a bit of a beer shower. And Phil asked for a joint and like 30 joints must have been thrown on stage. The NYC cops just turned thier backs. LOL That was funny. Also I remember that the first song that they played with was Mouth For War, and there is iron fencing about waist hight along the side of the dance floor which is huge there, and I tried to jump off it into the pit and fell down. LOL It was the most insane concert of my life, and I have been to some extreemly heavy shows. I am proud to have been able to see Dime at least once in my life.
I went to the cemetary last week (m)
by J2P on Sat Mar 04, 2006 7:53 am
It was so surreal, but very peaceful and well cared for.
I did cry for awhile, it just made it seem so much more real, I mean I knew he was gone, but seeing the gravesite, it just hit me.

He was such a vibrant and life loving person, it is just so hard to believe he is gone.

All I could think of was whenever he would see me and just wrap his arms around me and yell "Its Bekah "from hell".

I am posting this here, because most of the people I know do not know of Pantera of of Dime, and I needed to get some of the emotion out that I felt to people who care.

Yup! My new FBD courtesy of Jon and Funky Munky music.

I know you're chompin' at the bit to scroll down to the porn, but please be patient and read what I have to say:

A message on customer service

To me, good customer service makes or breaks a sale. Let me start by saying that I am thoroughly impressed at how Jon and the crew at Funky Munky handle their customers. I had been getting s#%t on by the local guitar shops here, and was just about to give up my search for my FBD. Dealing with Jon was an entirely different story. This guy is great! He bent over backwards to make sure I was completely satisfied with not only my guitar, but the entire purchasing process. He even handled my endless stream of questions and worries without faltering.

In the end I got a fantastic deal on a kick-ass guitar. I could go on and on about how beautiful this thing is.... but I'll let you folks judge for yourselves:

So pour yourself a Black-Tooth, kick back, and enjoy!!

Blue MXR 6-Band EQ
by Stevenam on Fri Mar 10, 2006 7:11 am
I'm wanting to get one of these but I have seen 2 different blue MXR 6 band EQ pedals. Does anyone really know if one is better than the other. I would think an EQ is an EQ. Especially if they are both 6-band and made by MXR. Here is a pic of the one I'm thinking about getting. Its blue and its MXR. So it should be good right?

Here is the other one. I'm assuming this could be the one Dime used but it looks a lot more beat up.

50+ more DIME/Damageplan photos online Chiacgo 11-21-04
by rockconcertfotos.com on Fri Mar 10, 2006 11:19 pm
I posted close to 60 more photos on my site today of DIME with Damageplan. These are from the House OF Blues in Chicago November 21, 04. This was sadly the last night I was able to spend with my dear friend, we did talk a several times over the next 2 weeks, but this would be the last time I photographed him.
Every show i had seen Damageplan perform was amazing, but this night they were definately on FIRE. We left the building that night around 4am, stumbling to the hotel knowing that this had been a "Special" night. If you happened to catch the trinute that Fuse/Uranium did, Dime and Vinnie were still talking about the fun we had after the show 2 weeks later.
RIP my brother and friend- DIMEBAG.
I hope you all enjoy them, some of these photos had been posted on my old site, but a good portion of them have not been seen publicly before.
Here are some samples
and the link to a gallery with over 300 Damageplan photos from across the country in 2004.

MXR Flanger/Doubler review
by slaytanic on Mon Mar 13, 2006 11:08 pm
Heres a fast review of my new F/D, the last one I got was broken as some of you know, well this one I just got today, was obviously not. I plugged her in and she screamed right off the bat. Still messing with some settings, I do have to say that I gaurantee that this was a HUGE part in Dimes tone and sound, regardless if his fingers are playing behind it or not.

The flanger effect is probably the best version I have ever heard. True flange here. You can get so many different sounds out of it, slow flanger to a phaser type. I cranked the width and speed all the way up and got a tremelo type phase sound. Crank up the delay to get more wooshing out of it, I dont know, its badass, still gotta play with it more.

As for the Doubler, You can be sure that this definatley thickens things up, it makes the distortion signal fuller and tighter. Like VDOP. The farting type distortion. (At least with my X2) Havent messed with it too much on the doubler setting, but you can get better harmonics out of it. Squeals sing and sing and sing. Its not like it adds gain, maybe a hair, It just pulls the brightness out of the sound, especially when you turn up the regen knob. Notes seem to sustain farther too. The delay on the doubler settings for me doeesnt need to be turned up very high to get a doubling sound, turning it up too high makes it kind of muddy to me. Im still not a great lead player, but what I do know sounds real rich and clean. Im gonna keep messing with it to get the hang of all the settings. I do recommend this unit for anyone on a quest for Dimes tone, any question about whether his sound comes from just his fingers has been answered. You can easily tell that his lead tone came from this unit. Experience obviously has to play a part but everything else is in this box.
Randall Warhead and 2x15 cab!!!!!!!!
by NAKEDTBONEDTRUCKER on Mon Mar 13, 2006 11:27 pm
Hello, fellow Dime fans!

Well, I just found a Randall Warhead amp for $550
and a Randall Warhead half stack 2 x 15 for $400.
Tax not included, but NO shipping charges! Plus,
it's from my local guitar shop, so (get this)........
I can actually try out a Randall before I buy it!
All I have been dealing with has been Ebay for
most of my guitar stuff. It's getting harder to find
these. I tried Ebay, but they are getting high on
prices. And most people are selling them as
full stacks for like $3,000.00. So, once it comes
in next Monday, I will be able to try it with my
Dean FBD and the Randall half stack. Can't wait!!!

I hunger for more gain! The Randall RG-100 ES isn't
really cutting it anymore, even with the MXR 10 band
(has gain on it) and the Furman PQs. It's close with
this, but I feel that it needs more ohmfff! Twisted Evil You know?

I already have a Randall XL 4 x 12 cab w/ Celestion
Vintage 30s. So, I don't think I need another cab.
Money is tight. And I am only jumping on this amp
cause it's like new condition and it's fairly cheap,
for what it is. Well, more gain too, I hope.

Question: Since the Warhead has built in EQ, can I
still use the Furman PQ-3 or 4? Dime did right?
Anyone here running them together? (Warhead
and PQ).
Randall RG100ES?
by Stevenam on Tue Mar 14, 2006 7:05 am
Did Dime actually ever use the RG100ES? I know he used the Century 200 for VDOP and FBD, but I read in Riffer Madness he used a RG100H. Also, did he ever use the rackmounted version of the RG100....the RG100HT?

by DarrellandVinnieRule on Thu Mar 16, 2006 5:42 am
Darrell,

Hey Dime I just wanted to drop you a line. I hear your guitar scream and it puts a fire inside of me. A fire that will burn forever. A fire that makes me wanna jam like you. I never met you in person but i feel like we know each other. You are the coolest person that ever lived. You are up their with Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan as far as talent on the guitar goes brother! You are absolutely amazing! I feel priveleged to live in the same time in this world as you. It is a true honor. I feel that I was made to play guitar. All my passion goes into my guitar. I live and breath music. There is nothing like guitars man. I feel sorry for people that don't know about the great Dime and great music. I feel that the only true life is music and rocking out.

I was in a complete depression and sad mode for a month when i heard the tragic news. I must have cried about 5 times. I am better now I realized that you are in a better world now. A place where peace is always and forever. I just hope that Vinnie is ok man . And everyone else. This news is something that should of never happened. But then again everything happens for a reason. God needed a badass guitar player I guess. Well he got the best of em' thats for sure.

Well I would love to write more but I thinks its time to pick that guitar up and make it scream a note that says Hell Yea!

Much love and all that cool s#%t to all of you.

Projects In The Jungle REMASTERED
by darrell_dimebag_tribute on Thu Mar 16, 2006 11:13 am
I remastered the song, and now it sounds like a true heavy metal song (it now sounds like Dimeabag used Randall Century 200 and Furman PQ4)!!!

I have two versions: one with vocal allmost intact, and bassier drums (heavy-metal style), but with less distortion added to guitar, and second with VDOP guitar sound, but you can feel the impact on the drumms, and vocal is a lot quieter.

I would like to post them, but I am affraid to do it!!! I don`t know who do I have to ask for permission! It is a lower quallity mp3, and I it is probably illegal to post it here.

What do you guys think?

"I'm Broken" vid!
by NAKEDTBONEDTRUCKER on Sun Mar 19, 2006 12:18 am
Here's my attempt to be "Dime". LOL! It's a video clip
of me playing "I'm Broken". It's only about 1 minute
long, since I was using my little digital camara and a
tiny memory card to record it. Laughing

Interesting observation (Dime`s tone related)
by ninjasx on Sun Mar 19, 2006 1:51 am
when listening to 101 Proof through headphones using windows media player 10 i had a fiddle with the eq and cutting 1KHz right down makes minimal difference to Dime`s guitar sound, doing that and boosting the other frequencies a tiny bit makes it sound a whole lot better Twisted Evil
also tried it with VDOP and it was the same, 1Khz is not a frequency that is a big part of Dime`s tone Wink
Try it and see what I mean.
More remastered stuff and a neat remix!
by darrell_dimebag_tribute on Sun Mar 19, 2006 11:42 am
I allready posted remastered versions of "Projects In The Jungle", and promissed same for "I Am The Night".

In the meanwhile, take a listen to this Soul Bleed remix of mine:

(I added a little something in the beginning and during the solo! Listen to the whole song!)

Inside or outside picking for CFH song ?
by microtonal on Thu Mar 23, 2006 8:35 pm
Just wondering how some of you pick the first few notes in the beginning and main riff for CFH that is between 2 strings.

Do you upstroke first to inside pick or downstroke the first note to outside pick the notes between the 2 strings ?

Century Heads
by emunder on Sat Mar 25, 2006 2:25 am
Can any of you out there post some close up pics of your Century heads control panels. I was interested to see the difference between the 170, 170II, 200, & 200II. Any other information you can provide about your heads would be greatly appreciated as well. There is literally no info around the web on these heads and I wanted to try and see the difference in the different versions. Thanks!
Walk Solo Blues...
by Killer Wooolf777 on Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:40 pm
Any of you got a case of the walk solo blues??? Crying or Very sad I've been sitting here fussing with this for a wile now and just don't get it. I've known the blues lick in the beginning for a wile now. And I'm pretty confident with that weird bend thing he does after that. But then he go's into a slur of notes (and insanity) and I have no idea what hes playing! Everytime I look up tabs for this it just confuses me more, so I dont even mess around with them anymore. But I figured if some of you guys could share bits and peices of it, it would help me out alot. so......will you Confused

Man... the 1st time I saw Dime play Pantera opened for Suicidal in Cleveland. I was blown away... and went the next day to buy cowboys. It is one of the great tragedies of rock that Dime was taken from us all Crying or Very sad , however i am glad that he was here, that i heard him play early on and that I can still enjoy his musical legacy which is definately somrthing to celebrate. Very Happy . Rock in Peace!

Randall G2 series Heads
by LongLiveDime on Thu Mar 30, 2006 11:05 pm
Does anyone who owns one of the G2 series heads care to offer some input. Are these any good? I was at my local music store and they have some left in stock, specifically the RH100G2, and I was just wondering if any of you could comment on the quality. The price was really good, but I was wondering if I should pass and just wait to try the new G3 series and T2 and V2.
