anyone got it... anyone even heard this song... its all Dime... maybe his bro and rex played on it but the impression i got was that it was just dime, tho there is drums and bass... Dime is singin on it... sounds awsome!
Do you know what the Dean ML79 fretboard radius is?
Please, i need to know.
Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul recently spoke to MTV.com about the upcoming debut album from REBEL MEETS REBEL — a collection of a dozen tracks of countrified metal featuring controversial country singer David Allan Coe and the guitar prowess of Paul's late brother, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.
"It's something that me and Dime really wanted to do a long time ago, but we were so busy with everything, we never could," Paul explained. "When Atlantic (PANTERA's label) passed on the REBEL MEETS REBEL record because they didn't know what to do with it, I was like, 'I'm not gonna go shop this. This just fell right in my lap, and it's time for me to start this record label that I've been thinking about and, you know, put it all together.'
"It is a lot of work, trust me," he continued. "Getting on a tour bus and riding around the United States and playing for an hour and a half a night is a lot easier than this stuff. But it's fun to be able to learn both sides of the business."
"His guitar playing on this record is incredible," Paul continued. "The cool thing about this record is, a lot of times when you're making metal, everything operates kind of like a machine. It's like chung, chung, chung — it's just power. And with this kind of record, it has a ROLLING STONES vibe. Everybody can kind of cut loose, play what they want, and all the people really interact instead of it all kind of being one big gigantic tank moving in one direction.
"So [there was] a lot of freedom involved in making this record," Paul said. "And it gave me something to look forward to and to live for because I've never done anything without Dime. ... It's been a long road for me to get to this point where I feel I can move on in my life. And that's what I'm doing, man."
Even without Dime around to play guitar, Paul said there's a chance REBEL MEETS REBEL could tour — so long as he can tap someone gifted enough to tackle the riffs. "I have a couple of people in mind that were really close to Dime and would be perfect for it," he said. "But we're just going to put out the record first and see how that goes. And then if the fan response was really, really good, I think it'd be fun to go play those songs live because they'd be killer songs live."

Just got my Century 200 Halfstack today. Cleaned it all up, plugged it in and whoa, I now see why it is such a sought after amp. First off, the tone is pure VDOP. Knobs consist of Reverb, presence, Bass, treble, and mids for both channels, a boost/sustain switch (which only effects the distortion channel), master and gain knobs for both channels as well. The gain knob on the Red channel (distortion) has a pull knob for increased midrange and the gain knob on the green channel (clean) has a pull knob for brightness. The on/off switch is just your plain jane toggle but has 2 on positions, which is for ground noise, whichever on position it is in that takes the ground noise away is the position you want (never seen an amp that has that). Actually it says in the manual that it reverses the polarity. As some saw in the auction I won, it did come with the very rare FS-5 footswitch with the 6 prong jack. Features are: one button to switch from clean to distortion and the other button to combine channels. Combining channels gives it a little more gain, but not much. Also came with it is the FS-9 footswitch for turning on and off the reverb and a channel select button.
As for the way it sounds, I have not yet hooked up any of my rack gear to this yet, so this is just plugged straight in. The sound is rather unique, like VDOP, notes are crystal clear and so are power chords, it seems to have a little fizzle behind the distortion but not enough to annoy you. This is a very high gain amp, compared to my X2, it holds up, it doesnt have quite the bottom end that the x2
has and not quite as much chunk, but it sounds waaaay better than my X2 as of tone and tightness. I probably jammed for 5 hours straight only taking breaks to get more beer and never was displeased with any sound it was giving me. Only problem Im having with it is all the pots are dirty and crackle like hell when Im adjusting them. Overall, this amp was very easy to setup and found a great tone right off the bat. The cabinet that came with it is the matching cab for the head: R412. Not as cool looking as my warhead 4x12 but its nice and has the Jaguar speakers in it. Next, Im looking forward to hooking up my Eq's to give it the some balls. Not gonna do that till I clean the pots though.
Someday I will get a mic so I can record this thing so you all can hear it. It really is that badass.
seriously ive only seen 2 or three... and not very good ones. (one is from hardrock cafe and is really small... if you talk about dime and she comes up people ask what she looks like... and well your basically screwed cus its almost impossible to find pics of her...
so anyone got any? any at all?
Never heard of this randall
but it looks just like c170 which is odd, had to have been made around the same time but i wonder how it compares sound wise to the century series http://cgi.ebay.com/Randall-RG-170-ES-2-Channel-Guitar-Amp-Head-No-Rsrv_W0QQitemZ7404933132QQcategoryZ10171QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Crushing RG100es head modification
by marker on Thu Apr 06, 2006 3:09 am
Dudes if your like me you are always looking for a way to make your randall sound like god, well I found a way to mod the treble sustain knob and IT CRUSHES!!! In the pull sustain knob there are 2 diodes that clip when u pull the knob. I simply added 2 more diodes in a series for a total of 4 1N914 diodes. When I first hooked it back up and pulled the switch there was still a volume drop, but now u just have to turn it a hair and u get way more drive from it. I did not ever use the pull knob because I didn't like the power that I felt was lost when I pulled it. Now it is tight and more versatile. You can get so close to dimes tone without any effects. kinda in between a century and RG100es. If you guys are interested hit me up and I will be glad to share the info. The parts are like a couple of bucks and about 30 minutes of work, but if you want to put new life in that RG dude, try this!
Bill Lawrence VS Dimebucker
Some one help me out. How much of a difference is there between the BL pups Dime used and the Dimebucker??? Which do you think is better? At the end of the summer I'm getting a 79 ML-F and I wanna put one of the two in it. The BL's are ALOT less money, but if the Dimebuckers are REALLY worth it, I'll put out the cash for one.
Will I get into any kind of trouble on here for posting some gear (Randall) for sale on here?

Vulgar Video 4?
by emunder on Sat Apr 08, 2006 3:25 am
I just got my new Guitar Player magazine in today and it had an interview with Vinnie and Rita about the Dimevision release and other future projects. They were saying that they had enough footage for a Pantera Vulgar Video 4. They also said that they intend to put out more Dimevision DVD's due to the fact that Dime has so much video footage laying around. Rita said that she want's to release any future DVD's on his day of passing so everyone will have something to laugh at instead of focusing on his death. Pretty cool!!!

EMGs???? WTF?? I have never seen Dime use those.
From like 1984 to 2004 I have never seen 1 pic or

Chuck Billy did???
Anyone have proof that Dime used EMGs???
Please post your BEST PICS of....
the real FBD ML...I need the best pics of the THINK pot leaf sticker especially.
I'm really going to try to create a replica of it. Any and all pics of the FBD would be appreciated. I tried searching, but whenever you search 'THINK', you get a TON of threads of people saying "I think..." and crap.
Thanks a million. Maybe if I can get a very good picture of the sticker I'll be able to get a lot of them made up.

Hey guys. I recently found out that DOWN is back together and going to be touring again soon. I know Dime and Phil weren't allways on good terms, but I really dig the DOWN albums dispite Phil being a turd sometimes. Would anyone else like to see a new DOWN album like I would? I would be into it also since Rex is in the band now, and he's allways been a cool dude. If you like Phil or not, you can't deny that NOLA was a heavy metal masterpiece.
This may seem stupid...but im curious.
This may seem kinda stupid...but I wonder if anyone ever thought about dimebags crazy frackin hair! Like in the old days before Pantera was huge....he had a fro kinda thing. like this http://www.deanguitars.com/dime/young_dime/pages/Darrell%20015_jpg.htm

thats probably about 16 to his early 20s if you ask me.... and then later he gets his hair like this when pantera is big and hes older

or this
http://www.deanguitars.com/dimeozz/pages/Dime7_jpg.htm
its still curly and kinda raggedy and s#%t but its not a fro anymore.
im wondering how the hell that happened! my hairs like a fro its pretty long and i could never get it to go down or s#%t.
just wondering if anyone had any idea how you could get hair that crazy!

PANTERA: VH1's 'Behind The Music' Special To Premiere In May
PANTERA: VH1's 'Behind The Music' Special To Premiere In May - Apr. 12, 2006
VH1 has set a May 11 premiere date for the "Behind the Music" special on PANTERA. A photo of ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul being interviewed by Eric of VH1 for the upcoming program can be viewed at this location. The exact air times will be announced soon.
PANTERA's career overview CD, "The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits!" (Elektra/Rhino), was certified platinum on January 13, 2006 by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments in excess of one million copies in the U.S.
The 16-song "Vulgar Hits!" CD, originally issued in September 2003, was packaged with a bonus DVD boasting 12 videos, including two live performances. The bulk of the material was culled from the band's six major-label releases, but also included were non-album cuts "Cat Scratch Fever" (a cover of the TED NUGENT song that originally appeared on the Polygram soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City") and the BLACK SABBATH cover "Hole in the Sky", previously available only on import.
PANTERA's classic "Vulgar Display of Power" (Elektra) album was certified double-platinum in 2004, signifying shipments of more than 2,000,000 units in the U.S. since its February 25, 1992 release.
Rhino Video last week released PANTERA's "3 Vulgar Videos From Hell" — a three-DVD set featuring all the band's videos as well as live footage shot during the Monsters of Rock gig in Moscow. Originally released on DVD in 1999, this version features the same content with improved menus and all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. In fact, it is the first PANTERA release ever in 5.1 Surround Sound. It features: "Cowboys From Hell The Videos", "Vulgar Video", "3 Watch It Go", and "Pantera Live From Monsters of Rock In Moscow".
And there it is...should be cool

I know it's not Dime related but I bought a new Decimator pedal off of eBay and just got it this morning, and this thing kicks ass. I think it works better than the old Rocktron Hush II rack mount I had. It certainly lives up to all it's hype. For those that don't have one yet I highly recomment it.

OMG WTF?!?!(old Mike Portnoy drum solo with Pantera tribute!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLIWyjfaopc&search=mike%20portnoy
Ran across this totally by accident. I'm a fan of Portnoy and Dream Theater, one of my favorite bands.
My heart skipped a few beats at the middle of this thing, when guitar comes in and theres a drum accompaniment. It sounded soooooooo familiar, and a big part of me was saying "I know that tone... I know that rif..." I immediately thought Pantera, and flipped through songs for 10 minutes until I found it.
BY DEMONS BE DRIVEN!!!
The opening riff. I know most wont get why this is so cool, but DT and Pantera are my two favorite bands. The combination of the two in any way possible is mind blowing. Hope somebody enjoys this as much as me.
I NEARLY SHATT MY PANTS !!
God i thought for a minute there i had a dream come true, the only time i got to see pantera was at Glasgow barrowlands on September 7th 1994 and i thought when i first saw this torrent it was MY show !
Dammnitt !
I would pay big bucks to have the footage from my show so i can relive those memories everyday, it was my first concert, i was 16 had no idea what to expect my first band and the ONLY band i cared about, afterwards it was all dreamlike and i struggle to discern from th real memories and created missing patches, oh well maybe one day eh ??

DFH laid to rest with Dime....???
I was wondering if anyone thought that the original DFH should have been burried with Dimebag? It was thought for several years that "number one" was burried with Stevie Ray Vaughn, but his brother eventually said that he took possession of it. Being a big fan of both, I have often pondered the question... If it were up to me, should you burry this guitar hero with their favorite axe of so many years, or should it be saved for fans now and in the future to be able see and be inspired by?????? I can't decide. What do you guys think?

Who desingned Dime-O-Flame paintjob?
As far as I know, the original Dime-O-Flame was painted by some motorcycle paint artist. So, I started wondering, how did the paintjob come together, did Dime just say "paint flames" and the painter did his magic or did Dime tell exactly what he wants... or did someone else desing it. It would be fun to know where the flames on my DOF came from. I bet there's some story behind the flames that someone knows.
And who came up with the idea to paint that (hidden) skull there, great addition!

Randall G3 amps....?? Played one yet???
Hey guys, I've been looking at the new Randall G3 amps and was wondering if anyone had played one yet. The tone is supposed to be great, but I was wondering if they still sound like the solid state Randalls. I really like the G2's, and I'm fixing to sell my Century 170II to get a new one. Let me know if they are worth the cash...
I want a good tone, but still want to keep the dry Dimebag/Randall sound.

ToRMeNToR's NEW Razor V!!!!!!!!!!
Hey everyone, I was playing around with the Razorback shape, and A lot of people were talking about Razor V's and Z's, Well I made up my own little Razor V, What do you all think? THIS IS FOR FUN AND I HAVE NO INTENTION IN GETTING IT MADE!!!!
who has the rights to that body shape? i know WB ditched it along with everything else Dime related. so does dime's estate have the rights to it? could Dean build it if an agreement was made with Rita and or Vinnie? just curious. i'd kinda like to have one with a less lame headstock, and i hear the WB's only made imports of it and they tended to have strange things hppen... only thread on the Washburn forum regarding them was about a fret board popping off...
what do yall think? maybe a moer normalized hockey stick headstock? sharper hockey stick Headstock? or full on series 2 headstock?
i'd get one eventually for sure if Dean Made it... i will prolly find a washy one eventually for the hell of it if dean doesnt make one ever...
Anyone Know

i planning to build a guitar (not literally) buy the parts and put it together then get a custom paint job on it.
buy dean ml body and then a dean neck and i havent decided on the electrics or paint yet. its gonna be killer.
my plan is that it will be like the dfh to dime but my own model to me.

Read this somewhere, hope its true.

Rumors have been circulating around the internet that a select number of bands have decided to record a Pantera tribute album, in memory of Dimebag Darrell. After what seemed like years of awaiting to see if the rumors were true, it seems like it has been worth the wait. 16 well-known artists have now gone into the studio to record Vulgar Display of Reinvention: A Tribute to Pantera, including some pioneer acts from the thrash scene such as Slayer, Anthrax and Testament. Although no tracks have yet been recorded, a tracklisting of what will appear on the album has been revealed to be
Anthrax - Revolution Is My Name
Fear Factory - Use My Third Arm
Machine Head - Cowboys From Hell
Hatebreed - Strength Beyond Strength
Shadows Fall - I'm Broken
Sevendust - Walk
Helmet - This Love
Chimaira - Throes Of Rejection
Grip Inc. - Mouth For War
Testament - Heresy
Children Of Bodom - Slaughtered
Soulfly - Primal Concrete Sledge
Megadeth - Floods
Lamb Of God - A New Level
Slayer - Regular People
Mudvayne - Cemetary Gates
The album will open with Anthrax covering Revolution Is My Name, one of the more popular songs from the album Reinventing The Steel (see REVIEWS). They will be joined by former bandmate and brother of Dimebag, Vinnie Paul Abbott, as he wishes to record the drum track for this particular song. This decision was reached when Vinnie Paul turned down an offer to take up the drums for Anthrax's next record, and instead agreed to help create and play on a Pantera tribute album.
"Although many fans may see it as being disrespectful to some extent, I think it's a great way for the world to say goodbye to Brother Dime properly." Vinnie continues, "And the bands I've asked to come help out are all bands I know he loved, and I know they're gonna kick ass and show us that they can continue the legacy that will never die...PANTERA!"
No release date has been set, although there is an estimate that it will appear in stores around Christmas this year.

Ride For Dime & Dean Guitars
by askadan on Fri Apr 28, 2006 5:55 am
Dean Zelinski has been generous enough to donate a Dean guitar to be given away at Ride For Dime - Sunday Aug 20th. At this point in time I am not sure which model is being donated but I will update when it is known. Big props go out to my friends at Starmadillo Radio for arranging this with Dean. Dean also signed the RFD tribute vest. Zakk Wylde currently has possession of the vest and is personally taking it around to other metal artists to get their scratch on it. The vest is covered front and back with the autographs of some of the most legendary names in metal.

Bill Lawrence L-500 XL pickup
by Goc on Sat Apr 29, 2006 4:35 pm
Ok, I've been following the subject as it evolved and I'd like to settle something once and for all. Is there anyone who has a real experience with those so called 'fake' Bill Lawrence USA pickups and original ones, and if so, could you tell me the real difference between those two? Thank you.
I've purchased the 'Original Dimebag Darrell' pups from an online store and they turned out to be the 'fake' USA ones, so now i'm wondering if i really made such a bad move or not?
After all, those two guys calling themselves Bill Lawrence used to work together, so it can't be THAT big difference...?
I hate to ask, but I'm in need of a pic of Dime's Snakeskin guitar that was in one of the Home Videos (I think 3?/The one he got from the W headquarters). Hell, if you have any pics of a snakeskin paint job I'd also appreciate if you post em or e-mail to me at IrfaanSE801@nyc.rr.com I might have the cash for a custom guitar and I haven't found the right pattern or color I want for this certain finish. Thanks again!
