Now I have a below 70 IQ type question.......
I have a Randall RG-100 ES, and a Randall RG-100 XP.
The XP I use for distortion only. How can I hook up
the other RG-100 ES to it so I can use that one
to switch to clean? I can't use the clean on the XP,
anyone with a Furman and a MXR will know why.
Clean channel gets distorted with those EQs on.
Cowboys From Hell, South Park style!
I don't know what the hell Rex is doing, but i thought this was neat

question about early lightning-bolts
Can anybody tell me if dimebolt guitars with the following specs were made between 1991 and 1996 by dean, before dime switched to washburn (might be a limited edition?) ?
-made in usa
-bill lawrence lead and rythm pickups
-mahagony body and neck
-bolt on neck
-original floyd rose
-sperzel tuners
i consider buying a guitar like this and just wanna make sure that im not going to buy a fake.
thanks in advance

I've been working on some original stuff today, here's what I got so far:
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/39723_mikesloootwegidea.mp3
It's basically just a collection of riff at the moment.
Setup was: Yamaha rgx612a -> Danelectro 6 band EQ -> Boss sd-1 -> Randall RG100HT -> Avatar 2x12 with V30's.
Settings on my Randall were:
Gain - 5 o'clock
Treble - 10 o'clock (pushed in)
Mids - 10 o'clock
Bass - 3 o'clock
Presence - 5 o'clock
I also used a Shure sm57 microphone, Cakewalk Guitar Pro multitrack recording program, and Hammerhead rhythm station for the drum programming.

Finally got to meet Vinnie!
After a long ass time of wanting this, it finally happened:
Steve's Music in Toronto had a meet and greet with Vinnie Paul yesterday. Stood in line for over 3 hours in the pissing rain to meet the man and it was well worth it. Thanked him for all he and Dime had done for Metal in the past and future. Also thanked him for all his hard work with Big Vin Records in keeping Dime's legacy alive and well with killer recent releases "Rebel Meets Rebel" and "Dimevision". As expected he was very cool, gracious and appreciative of my kind words. He took the time to personally sign my Chad Lee original pic of Vin doin' what he does best and to snap a quick pic. Thanks again Vin.....you're the man!!!
What about Rebel Razorback just like this one? What about this green'n' black paint scheme?

What does dime's signature look like?
What does it look like?
Hey all, I'm just looking to clarify what kind of speakers Dime used during mose of his Pantera days. Did he use Jaguars or celestions? I know the warhead has celestion vintage 30's, but did he always use those?
Also, I'm looking for a 4X12 cabinet for my RH100G2. Anyone care to make any recommendations?

Bill Lawrence pickups?
by jimmy on Tue Jun 06, 2006 6:59 pm
It's been beaten to death, we all know.
Who makes the best pickup for that dimebag tone-- Seymour Duncan, some guy named Bill Lawrence USA, a hippy active pickup-maker or a guy named DiMarzio who deals with Yngwie?
Who cares?
I'll tell you one thing: The Bill Lawrence (www.billlawrence.com) l500XL has to be the best passive pickup for guitar. A broad statment, but you'd need to play one to know. Hell, after playing the Dimebucker for 4-5 years, I didn't think there was anything better. I was totally wrong. The first time I played the L500XL I didn't know what hit me.
The L500XL is a huge package in pickup form; massive clarity, massive chunk, massive treble bite -- but not too much -- and endless sustain. And that's without distortion.
When you run this beast through the high gain, you're in for a teat. It's a pickup that responds drastically to dynamics, woods of your guitar, pickup attack, volume swells and volume decrease, and amp -- tubes and solid state. In brief, you need the chops to rock this sucker. But what makes this pickup all the more worth while, is the people who make it.
That's right, Becky and Bill are two of the most kind producers I've ever known. I called Becky, for example, and she actually knew who I was. If I emailed Seymour Duncan -- nay, he does not answer the phone, becuase he leaves it to his staff -- would they know who I was and be ready to help me? I don't know. Often, I feel like a number, a dollar symbol, when calling big name brand like so. (Not to say that they do not make fine products, but they have it to a science now, a formula in which consumers are an important part) When asking about my recent pickup order, which was placed early last month, Becky took the time to check all orders to see whether she had shipped mine, or not. She had not. So, she said it was to be shipped this Thursday. More, is that she asked for my email so that she could send me the UPS track number.
If this is not true customer service, then I do not know what is.
Finally, I say: If you want a pickup that will get you in the Dimebag zone of tone, or if you just want the most diverse pickup (they can do anything from blues, to heavy metal, and country, the prior pickup model before this was a steel guitar pickup, so you know where its roots are) on the market, get a Bill Lawrence; they come in a variety of models which suit your needs. They will, of course, take some time to get to your house, but the end result is always worth the wait; and you can spend the extra time waiting for the pickups working on your chops.
I hope this will help put some end to all the pickup madness on the endless quest for tone.
Amps, Eqs, Noise Gates
by Strife on Wed Jun 07, 2006 6:00 am
hey dudes i have been searching for the right half stack to own but i haven't decided yet.
i know most of you love the Dime tone... i love it too but i don't want to spend money in something that will make me sound like dime
so what do you guys recomend for a great sounding and cheap head as well as eqs and a noise gate, maybe some pickups?
does anybody have a pic of their
Dean ML Noir XT
is this a good guitar or is the dime o flame much better???
i really want a black dean ml with floyd rose, but from the picks on dean's pages it dosen't look like the kind o black i want...
i love the guitar dime used in the i'm broken video so i want it like that black....
It seems like this is the only black ml with floyd deans has..

I have the xp-3 blockbooster and that boosts the signal but does not increase the volume when treble knob is pulled,
I love the sound when the knob is pulled but hate the fact it loses volume.
any guys got any ideas?

this topc is stupid and all but i want anybody who thinks that good ol Dime was the best ever to post in here. It's friday night and im wasteeeeed........
Does this guitar still exist ?
is it at the Dean Headquarters or is it owned by somebody else ?
this ML looks so sweet with the V plate
dime does some killer vocals
if you've listened to rebel meets rebel on the cd dime sounds f***in awesome!
Here's a requested clip of the RG-100 ES. It's straight
out from the amp to my guitar. NO pedals, noise gates,
EQs! Just the FBD guitar and the amp. I know the clip
is not on time. I screw up a few times too. That's not
the point of this clip. It's just thrown together for the
sole purpose of the TRUE RG-100 ES sound.
NOTE: this is from the regular RG-100 ES. the
RG-100 ES XP (top amp) was NOT used.

tat on dime's leg
by marker on Tue Jun 13, 2006 6:56 pm
Whose face did dime have tattooed on his left shin? It kinda looks like pat from damageplan, but don't really know.
Pantera....posted in the right spot!...tabs!
Is it just me or is the fact that the only book out there (Cherry Lane's Anthology) is just NOT ENOUGH DIME for tabs!
I mean, I have the Riffer book, but I want Cemetary Gates! More than just 6 songs from the first two albums, at least. We're talking Dime here! Damn, how many bands out there have matching tab portfolios that don't have half the influence of Dime...
...does anybody agree? Now before you go off about "figure em out yourself" and YES I know Dime wasn't big on tabs, I really just think that the 2 first albums should have their own 'reasonably' accurate printings.
Anybody?
i was thinking about getting a tattoo for a tribute for dimebag, check it out, tell me what you think of it!
I may stir the pot a bit with this one, but I am beginning to think that the DamagePlan Album may have been Darrell's best work to date. I have had this CD in rotation for goin' on 2 years now, and it has not gotten old in anyway.
I know there are the Pantera purists that will disagree, but I love this album, and I think it is better than most, if not all Pantera albums.
Yngwie Malmsteen talks about dime
Yngwie Malmsteen
Dimebag Darrell
I heard about Dimebag from everyone. He was the new thing of the 90's really, just like what me and Eddie Van Halen have been like before that. His playing was so soft and he had his very own style too, I only had the opportunity to meet him once and I proudly say that he's one of the most skilled and technically proficient guitar players I have ever seen.

Crybaby From Hell Settings?
by MZDA on Sat Jun 17, 2006 3:48 pm
Anyone have a "favorite" setting for this pedal since it's so versitile..
I may be getting one, I goofed around with one for an hour or so, I know squat about wah pedals..
Can you guys shed some light on my situation?
Older Randall RH200 Head... Help.
Dudes, I just picked up an older RH200 and put it through my Randall R412TC with some sexy celestions and it sounds pretty awesome. On the downside, whenever I have it up a little lound, not even half way up when I have the volume on my guitar all the way up but don't play there is this horrible feedback like no frippin other! It's more like a high pitched mechanical squeal than anyhting else. Also, I like both channels but I feel like the clean channel has alot more punch than the distortion. And does anyone have and setting for this amp to get some cool Diamond Darrel tones? Mines pretty cool but I was just wondering.
Drawing of Dimebag
by Daniel on Sun Jun 18, 2006 12:14 pm
Hey is there anyone out there who has or can draw me a caricature (cartoon) of Dime.CHEERS Dan
Am I the only one that finds it wierd that alot of you guys want to re-create the designs that Dime made during his stay at Washburn? The company that alot of you guys hate?
I mean, sure they had some badass stuff like the Trendkill and what not, but Dean has it's own share of sick designs. Plus it's just the beginning! I cant wait to see what the next few years hold for these guitars.
Although I can already guess the general statement is going to be along the lines of "sucky guitars, awsome artwork"
Dimebag Darrell Covershoot With Guitar World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6kBQMf9h4I&search=dimebag
i've never seen this one before...cool vid...
and the first one with pants
I finally played them all!
Okay I just played the DFH, FBD, and Dime-O-Flame MLs, and they're all cool. the DFH was $999, FBD $899 and Flame $799 with a $50 rebate! At SamAsh. The DFH was the coolest with its slim V neck and better fretboard, the Flame came in second (its neck was exactly like the 79s C shape. And the FBD was the fattest baseball neck of them all, I didn't really like it that much, felt like the Gibson 59 necks. My question was why is the neck so fat on the FBD? Isn't it supposed to be a replica of the USA FBD ML Dime used? Isn't that one an '82 USA ML or something? Isn't it supposed to have the same neck as the '81 DFH Dime used?
Another quick question, the FBD and Flame had Dean neck pickups that look like the SD with the solid post and flat screw head in the pups, but the DFH had a Dean copy of a Dimarzio that was put in backwards, cuz the allen head screws usually face the fretboard but these where facing the bridge. any thoughts?
Hope this makes sense!

Check it out in the video section of myspace.http://www.myspace.com/markdeatherage. Enjoy and let me know what yall think. I'm singing on this one.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of,
or played one of the Randall RH250 G2 heads? I'm thinking
of getting one to replace my Rh100 for more volume. I think
they were only made late in 2005 and were never on the
Randall site. If anyone has any info let me know if they are
worth a crap.
Dean From Hell KISS Sticker
I know this has been talked about before, but does anyone know where that sticker on the DFH originated? I know the image is the same as the cover art on their self titled 1974 album. The only difference is they look like cartoons on the sticker. I also know that some of their albums came with a sticker. As far as I know the 1974 album did not come with one. If anyone has any idea where that sticker came from please let me know.
Here is a pic of the 1974 self titled album cover and the sticker:

Dime's Leads
by cgg on Sat Jun 24, 2006 1:12 pm
First things first. I'm not stupid, and I totally realize that this is not an easy question to answer. The easy answer is practice, I'm well aware, but I'm hoping for something more in depth.........like what exactly to practice........
But how the hell does Dime and all the people here play so damn fast?
I listen to someone like Clapton solo, and in his fastest parts.......I at least think that I could get to that level on my own, but Dime's leads are just........DAMN!
I have no idea how to get those 'lightning-quick" leads to even come close to the record. I'm not the best guitar player, but as far as Pantera, I can play all the rhythm to Cemetary Gates, I'm Broken, and Mouth for War (except for the fast, double picked part after the solo )........and I can solo somewhat. I'm learning all the pentatonic modes, and I know the moveable major and harmonic minor scales well.........
Anyway, thanks in advance for any help anybody can give.....
can someone give me acurate was to play...
song like CFH, domination, ****ing hostile and a new level i know the tunings but cant get acurate tabs thanks in advance.
Hey guys, im a huge fan of dimebag and i was just wondering what strings did he use? and also what gauge?
I'm mostly interested in his Old Pantera says and not the Damageplan days, so if you could help me out with that i'd be very Greatful.
Sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum.
R.I.P Dime Love ya dude!

Question about a one of Dime's Jim Dunlop pedal
Hey, guys! Here is the question. As I saw in YOUNG GUITARS Dime's Lesson( http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22771), there was some brand new Jim Dunlop pedal prototipe he was working on, per Dime with some kinda active phase and wah kicked in. Is someone know if it's been accomplished to make it available in music stores? Please, let me know. Thanks!!! Really appreciated your help.

I've been keeping my eyes open for a deal on a Randall 4x12 cab. I'd like to get the RS412XLT. Last week music123 had it for $839.99 and the shipping was free. I check on it this week and the price dropped to 797.92. But guess what, now its classified as an "oversized item" and no longer applies to free shipping. Also the price of the RS412XL dropped down to $721. They are saying they are closeout items and are now labeled "oversized." They weren't "oversized" last week when they were regular price. The price for standard ground is $59.99. So now it will cost me $857.91 instead of $839.99. Almost $20 more, what a deal. Also, the RS412XXLT, which actually is an oversized cab and is larger than the XLT is not labeled as an "oversized" item on their site. But of course its regular price so it applies for free shipping. Funny how that works out.
I called them and asked them about this and they guy in sales had nothing to say about it and just transfered me to customer service. Then I had to explain it to someone else. They just blamed the vendor saying that they put on their site what the vendor tells them. And that the vendor must have told them it was oversized. When I told her the oversized version of the same cabinet wasn't labeled oversized and applies for free shipping she was just rude about it. I also let her know that the same cabinet that is on sale this week, applied for free shipping when it was regular price last week. They didnt have much to say about that.
So if you guys are buying from them and think you're getting a deal make sure you've done your research. Cause where they cut cost of one thing they will probably nail you with something else.
who all has the dimevision dvd here???? i just got a copy from my job at umg and its amazing!your not a true dimebag fan unless you have it. it has really cool footage of dimebag and all the stuff he worked on... also... REBEL MEETS REBEL!! freaking awesome cd. if you dont have it you need to get it. its the most unique music ive ever heard. and of course dimebag shreds it up as usual. DAC adds a really interesting twist too. if you havent seen the video for them heres a link- http://www.rebelmeetsrebel.com/photos/albums/userpics/10002/Nothin-To-Lose_video.wmv
How the heck did he learn to write whole songs including solos without lessons? Ive been trying to self teach myself how to make solo's outta scales and just cant figure it.... been playing for like 14 years too..... what the heck am i missing?

Some drunken jamming (CFH Cover)
Here is Cowboys from Hell by my friend and I. Last thing we recorded after drinking all day and jamming for about 5 or 6 hours. The link should work without any trouble. I uploaded it to my own site.

What tuning and key is "Get Outta My Life" in? I've figured out 'Nothin to Lost' but thats it.
Far beyond dean owners of america!
by Goc on Fri Jun 30, 2006 8:10 pm
I am seriously thinking about getting myself a far beyond driven tribute dean and i got nowhere to try it out so i was wondering if you guys, the proud dean owners, could do me a favour and please measure how thick and wide is the neck! Please, you'd do me a huge favour. I play an ESP 250 Explorer and i'm totally comfortable with that neck so i wanted to compare it to dean.
Am I the only one that thinks the whole damned song just rocks!?
I mean Dime's solo is just out of body. I love it to death, especialy with the doubling he did.
I'm glad to see his solos came back on TGSTK after taking a different approuch to Vulgar.
