frackin A...

Today we're in Indy. Exit for the venue was, you guessed it, 33.
So we're here early, so we go to a mall to hang. We pull into the parking lot, and what do you know, we were here on the Damageplan tour, same place, same parking lot. Lots of memories from that day as alot of cutting up went on, particularly on Darrells behalf. Theres a Cheesecake factory and I remember he wanted me to go eat, but I said fuckit. He brought me some cheesecake though. This is also the place where he called Washburn and TOLD them to make a certain guitar for me, which they did not. Fuckers... We talked ALOT about Washburn that day. Things had come to light, and he was not happy. Oh well.
So the exit for the venue yesterday was...333.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I could go on about all the different coincidences happening lately... The dude is tryin to tell me something.

The last post was number 33, and I had decided to pretty much hang it up and quit posting here. Maybe he didn't like that? I know he likes me goin on about him. So...

Anyhow, I got s#%t to do. Had this picture on the computer, so there you go.

The picture is Vince and Darrell, taken after the second Pantera show at six flags. Picture was taken by Brian Mc clain. The jacket on the couch between the boys, Hetfield almost killed me over. But thats another story.

BLOW IT UP frackin HARD MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

So have any of y'all Dime fans thought about making a relic?
by flah on Tue Jul 03, 2007 8:11 pm
I see EVH fans do it all the time - they're always trying to replicate the Frankenstrat (check out www.frankenstraat.com <- yup, the spelling is correct).

I have not seen a beat up CFH replica. I think it would be cool to shave the paint off near the cowboy (no pun intended) chords, find a KISS sticker to pop on it, wear it in all the right places...... the most I've seen y'all do is take a felt tip marker to the wings......

Anyone? I wonder if Dean will start doin relics and charging exhorbitant sums. Worked for EVH and the $25,000 piece of shi.... I mean holy grail. But then again, I'm sure there are a lot more EVH fanboy/rich executive types than there are rich executive Dimesheep.

Pardon moi if someone has done it, I haven't seen it.

Which tuning for the MOST Dime-ness?
by atarilovesyou on Wed Jul 04, 2007 3:58 pm
...I'm currently turning my Baby DFH into a fire breathing monster. It has a fixed bridge, and after I swap up these tuners I'll have a pretty stable lil guitar....and the BnB's going into should help as well.

Anyway, I know the Dime tunings are many and varied but I wonder if any of you have figured out what the 'majority' of his tunes are in. I'm thinking of tuning the Baby to the typical E flat -40 cents (or whatever it is, I have it written down somewhere), and then just droppng the low E to play stuff a bit easier.

I was thinking of putting it in D standard and going from there, but then the majority of my tabs will be a pain in the ass to read. But having the D Standard would be useful in a lot of situations, too. Playing "Floods" for instance...

...anyway, suggestions? Once I setup the Baby I don't want to touch it again, I want to leave the strings the same size, intonate it for that tuning and gauge, and be done with it.
Check out this bio of Pantera...specifically Dime.
by slaytanic on Wed Jul 04, 2007 6:03 pm
Now I have been following Pantera and all that for a looong time and i have seen this statement before. Could have been from the same site.

I was just looking around and came across this bio of Pantera. I dont know who posted it but it is from the 90's and they mentioned Dime having a son. As far as I know , I never heard or seen pictures of any kids with Dime. But since someone said it, I may as well throw the question out to those that knew him. There is so much misinformation on the internet.

i just changed strings (same kind as always) and after found that all strings make a little vibration which you can hear. I tried lifting the bridge but it didnt make much of a difference. Could the nut be worn down? But could someone please tell me what might be wrong or what i can maybe do to fix it.
2 heads to choose from (big help from the RG100ES experts)
by '87 sherwood on Thu Jul 05, 2007 2:24 am
RG100ES Zebra Irvine California amp (Missing a knob) $349 cdn

RG100HT look complete $249 cdn

I played the RG100es and it freaking rocked hard. I didn't get to play the HT though cause I fired it up and nothing happend. They fixed the HT and no it apparently rocks too. I put both amps on hold until i get to my new posting. I'll be on the ground there the 22nd of July.

Should they both sound just as good? Which should I get?
I played an RG100es wrapped in black vinyl and when using the effects loop the amp hummed alot. The hum didn't change with the volume. Is that common? I didn't get to try the loop on the zebra head.
Assure Me Im not Going Insane...
by shadowskul6 on Thu Jul 05, 2007 7:32 am
Alright, there is a big argument going on in the Krank Amplification forum on what Dime was using in his Post Randall/Washburn Live Rig. Me and someone are battling the topic of how he used his EQ's. I've been a Dime Fan for at least 10 years and have always known he used his Furman as a tone shaping device and he'd have his tech krank on the MXR Flanger Doubler to thicken solos up even squeals. Anyways the argument is Im being told by a few people now that the Furman was to make squeals. And in my head Im thinking uhhhh WHAT??? Please let me know I haven't lost my mind and Im right...

Warhead info wanted
by atarilovesyou on Fri Jul 06, 2007 5:35 pm
Dudes, can you give me the quick n dirty on Warheads?..I see there's a couple different versions, the original, a B version, and an X2 version, is this right?

I'd like opinions, facts, whatever....just want to know what they're like...a local guy is selling one so I want to hurl some questions at him about it.

Quality, sound....noise factor (Randall, after all)...FX loops....footswitch quality and ease of use, comparability to newer Randall heads like the T2, V2....

..any help would be appreciated guys.

Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks
by Benthic_Pig on Sun Jul 08, 2007 7:39 pm
hey dudes,

Does anyone know what dime is playing just after the bluesy lick in the solo (~4:04 on this vid).

The tab i have is this:

e|22-------------------22---------------------22------------------22b^22^24
B|----22------17----------22---------17-----------22-----17
G|--------22--------17---------22---------17----------22-----17

Now, i can normally manage dime's bizarre blues scale sweeps, but man, that is so hard! (i think its more of an issue with me physically getting tight enough into the heel to sweep the 22 fretters) - does anyone know if this is indeed correct notation?

i have to admit, it does look right....argh. My god, everytime i think i can play most of dime's stuff, i hit a brick wall like this!

Varitaion of set ups
by kingoflight on Mon Jul 09, 2007 1:09 pm
i'll post this here seen as my main question is about a pq6, so i finally got around to getting a few more cables so i can use my second channel on my PQ6.

So my question is, is it safe to plug channel 1 into channel 2 ?

So the output of channel 1 goes into the input of channel 2 then hte out put of channel 2 goes back to the loop return.

I want to check if this is not going to damage the unit first as it would suck to have it melt on me.

See i was thinking of either having both channels in the loop with my 6 band up front or if i can't have it like that have it so one channel is up front and one in the loop.

Of course i'll try both if its safe, see which is to my liking.

Vinnie Paul Interview, Dimevision 2 should be out wintertime
by Serbusfish on Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:07 am
just been reading through some blabbermouth news and found an interview with vinnie paul, here are the highlights:

ChartAttack.com: You mentioned your label, Big Vin Records. Do you have any upcoming releases?

Vinnie: The only thing that's really in the works is "Dimevision II". We're looking for a fourth-quarter release

ChartAttack.com: Any unreleased DAMAGEPLAN, PANTERA or Dimebag material?

Vinnie: I've got all the demos that me and Dime were working on before everything had happened, and we felt like it was some of the best music we'd ever written and we were really excited about it. We felt like it was going to get us back to a place of recognition like we were with PANTERA. I would think people would definitely want to hear that music and we'll get it out, but right now I'm really focused on HELLYEAH and seeing where this goes. And once this runs its course for this particular record then I'll look at some of those demos.

ChartAttack.com: I don't want to talk too much about the past because what needed to be said has already been said. But what I haven't heard anything about is your relationship with former PANTERA bassist Rex Brown. Do you still have relationship with him?

Vinnie: Not really. The bridges and the family and everything were destroyed back in 2001. It's kind of hard to have any reason to want to speak to either one of those guys [Rex and former PANTERA vocalist Phil Anselmo]. I just leave it at that. I'm moving on with my life and I'm sure they're moving on with theirs and that's how that's going to be.
