by Trashed on Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:07 pm
i've got a randall head thats called(you guessed it) rh 100. Anyone else heard of them or tried one out. Mine's pretty killer got a pq3 and hush in front and a sonic stomp in the loop and it gives me a nice tone thats kind o dimish, if you understand. Just wanted to know if there rare or just crap to most people, but I like mine.

CLIP: furman pq4 LOOP Vs. FRONT
by 900XL on Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:26 pm
Hi! Here's a couple of quick crappy clips of my rg100ht with pq4. Once used in front (rg100 - pq4 -blue mxr 6 band eq), the other is the same exact settings but just put the pq4 on the loop (rg100 - mxr - pq4 on fx loop) and the third is with a green faced pq3b reissue on loop (rg100 - mxr - pq3b on the fx loop) same settings on the rg100 and i've equalized the pq3 exaclty the same as pq4.

Guitar is a gibson gothic flying V with a flipped 500T on the bridge and cab is a mesa 4x12.

I hope it helps and sorry for bad audio quality!

Dime's house and gravesite pics
by brn14me on Sat Aug 04, 2007 2:13 am
I grew up back in Dallas, Tejas. It's been 10 years since I've moved to Florida and 6 years since I've been back home. I went back to visit some friends and had a blast all around. One of the high points of the trip was hanging out with fellow DOA'er and good friend Martin aka Rottingcorpse.

We met him at Guitar Center in Arlington and drove over to Dimebag's cemetary. When we got there, there was already a half full shot glass as well as a handful of guitar picks and a few dimes on his gravestone. It was an amazing site. Martin, Sean and I toasted up a blacktooth and said a few words.

Next we went to Dimebag's house. The spot where the later Pantera albums, Rebel Meets Rebel, and Hellyeah were all recorded. If you've seen the Watch it Go or Dimevision DVDs you're very familiar with this house. This was VERY COOL. (note....not sure but the house looked vacant - that's why I felt comfortable getting pictures - I wouldn't do that if someone was there)

Then we went to the pond where you'll see the later pics of Dime "getting his wings" shot by Chad Lee. The pics of Dime holding his Dean with the sunset in the back.....yep I was there Twisted Evil From there we went to the studio where Pantera recorded their first few albums. Well secluded. I'm sure there was lots of gayidity going on there!

Next we went to Dime's house on Moneterrey. On Pantera 3 when Dime smashed up that dude's car and knocked the mailbox off.....this happened there. This is where Dime grew up. I didn't get any pics of the jam room or the house on Monterrey.

After that we finished the "tour" with dinner at Campo Verde's. Man I miss good Mexican food!! Hope y'all enjoy the pics.

The shot glass was already there. RC left the Crown mini for Dime.

Rg100es Amp sketchyness
by kingoflight on Tue Aug 07, 2007 5:32 pm
Is it just my amp or do other people fiddle with theres ever god dam time they switch it on.

So after coming across some electrical tape i decided it was time to adjust my neck pups hight (bare with me its going somewhere) i lowered the hight as i was tweaking the clean channel as it sounded way to harsh. After putting my slimes put back and having it the way i liked i set the clean channel up and it was nice and warm and not brittle sounding like it was before.

Great ... i thought.

I kick in the distorton channel and i am playing but something has changed. nope i was not on the neck pup i changed to the bridge, something sounded dulled and backed off somehow.

I switch back to the clean thinking my whole amp had dropped soundbut the clean was still crisp and warm just how i left it.

As i switched back to the gain channel i pushed the distorion up on the clean and what do you know it alters the frippin sound!

Where ive set my guitar on the gain channel and had the cleans gain up at about 2-4 o'clock it gave me extra distorion yet as ive moved it down now its lost that gain and blows goats.

All this time ive been tweaking one channel thinking it sounded good then going on the the other tweaking that and it changes the other !!!

Fustration is and RG100es!

Is this normall or just my amp lol its driving me nuts

Shocked

Ps if you know of a cure or a way around it please let me know.
Differences in the Rust Tribute Guitar
by That-Guy on Tue Aug 07, 2007 5:56 pm
Hey guys, new here, and i couldn't really figure out where to post this, cause there wasn't a question section for guitars other then tech, so i'll post it here, hopefully it wont be removed, ok, so i know that all the rust tribute guitars are hand airbrushed and stuff, but why is there such a drastic difference between the rust guitar on deanguitars official page for it, and the oens they actually sell, i'm talking bout this http://www.deanguitars.com/usa_razorback_tribute.htm

It's like gold, and it looks awesome, i love the look of the normal razorback rusts, so its not like i think this one is sooo much better, i'm just saying, i dont understand why they are soo different in looks, clearly, they aren't even close, that's not just a little cariation in airbrushing, the artist went for a completely different thing, so why, do some of the rust's look like that, can you get the gold looking rusts????? anyone have any info??

Dime and Rita In Kat Von D's Blog...
by JACKHOLE on Wed Aug 15, 2007 6:33 am
Last night, I was able to catch Camp Freddy (Dave Navarro, Scott Ian,
Slash, Steve Jones, and so many more) play at the House of Blues in
Hollywood, for an X Games after party, and it was so much fun,
considering I went with some of the best company a gal could wish for!
Rita haney, who was Dimebag Darrell's (RIP) long time companion,
took me with, right after we shot her getting tattooed. Tattooing her
was such an amazing experience, being able to hear all these wonderful
stories about the life they shared together before he passed, and it
was a great confirmation that TRUE LOVE does exist, regardless if it's
taken from you. Hearing all the stories of life on the road in a band,
drinking stories, and funny jokes makes me believe that there is
someone out there thats the male version of me, my other self, my
completion. And for that I am truly grateful, even in the lonely state
I find myself in lately.
Not to mention the half sleeve of Dimebag made for a rad tattoo that
I honestly believe Rita's gonna love forever. Wearing her heart on her
sleeve. That's how I wanna live.

Dimebucker vs. B & B L-500XL
by GuitarGoat on Wed Aug 15, 2007 3:29 pm
Hey guys,

I've just got my account and all that even though I've been reading this stuff for a while but I still have a question.

I'm making my own ML style guitar (I've already made a super-strat kinda guitar before) but I can't decide between the B & B metal housed L-500XL or the Dimebucker. I'm putting in a Dimarzio Evolution in the neck but I'm not sure about the bridge.

I want a high output which I thought that the Dimebucker was higher but I'm not sure. I've heard nothing but good about the L-500XL also. I really love the Cowboys From Hell tone and it's probably impossible to recreate but thats just what I like. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. I wouldn't have made a new topic but all of the other topics like this seem to go into a Becky vs. EZ thread so who knows where this will go.
xp3 block booster
by kingoflight on Wed Aug 15, 2007 4:51 pm
So when i bought my HT it came with a xp block booster which i cast to one side as the guy mention to be broken and it sounds it too as something is ratterling about in there all. I almost threw it away today as it was in the carboard box the amp came in.

Anyway i though i'd try it out to make sure, after scratching my head trying to work out if i had connected it right i turned it on and was getting my normal signal which was fine i switched the gain boost on and there was a definate change, not huge but a change. I can only describe it as a BBE sonic maximiser effect, like the lifting the blanket off your amp.

That was on the gain channel the clean channel takes the biggest hit and sound pretty lush there was as grainy pansy weak ass sound thats now gone and plays more like a marshall clean sound.

I tried the other switch which is a HI boost which i am guessing is the volume boost but thats whats broken on mine. kinda lucked out as i don't need that so much.

What i am stuck with is that the instructions say it works best at 4 ohm but i can't remember that stuff it always goes over my head.

I am tempted to crack it open and take a look inside to see whats making it work but the thing is cased with these rounded industrial split pin type joins.

Anyway if you see one on the bay buy it or let me know lol i could use a fully working one. This thing is pretty neat its not a huge difference but its helped me alot for my set up needs.

Ps if anyone can get the schematics off randall or knows if they make them still they should take advantage of that and get em.

OK, not sure if this has been posted before or if anyone's interested, but I have placed these movie files on Mediafire for download. Both are taken from Guitarworld Magazine.

1. Dimebag's found lesson II - Dime show's us 'Revolution is my name' & 'God.damn Electric' which gets a bit comical when his guitar starts buzzing through some of the riff's. This is when he tells us to 'Getcha buzz....' Laughing

2. Dimebag's ultimate guide to riffing & shredding by Nick Bowcott.

Where to buy B+B l500xl
by '87 sherwood on Fri Aug 24, 2007 11:40 pm
Is it true that it takes months to get a B&B L500xl? Or is there somewhere that has them readily avaiable? They never answer emails either and that sucks.

I may have a Randall RG200ES for sale soon
by '87 sherwood on Sun Aug 26, 2007 11:25 pm
Whats the value of this head anyways? It's super clean but kind of expensive at the shop. I'm going to try and knock the price down. If I can get it for a little less than it's worth (so I make a dollar on it) I'll have it up for sale in a few weeks. The shop just got it in so they won't budge on the price yet.

I also have a very nice RG100HT and foot switch on the chopping block at the moment too. The front panel has some wear but the amp is other wise almost new. I'll have pics tommorow and a youtube video as well. PM for pricing before this goes to ebay.

How to get a reinventing the steel tone?
by Serbusfish on Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:46 pm
Ive tried searching but found nothing. Ive just been listening to reinventing the steel and came to the conclusion the guitar tone on that album kicks ass. it isnt as buzzy as on VDOP and imo sounds awesome. sooo i was wondering how one would go about achieving this tone? i know dime used a century 200 on that album but the best I can do is rg100es. im sure something similar can be achieved with this head, mxr 6 band & furman pq4

can anyone help me out?

Six-String Masterpiece guitar
by puji on Fri Aug 31, 2007 6:11 am
Hi Everyone!
I've been reading this board for quite some time and have finally gotten around to registering, so I'm actually a newbie, but I thought this post would be better suited in the Tribute Area. I thought maybe I would post a newbie post and reference this post. Anyways, I became inspired to post this, not only because several friends suggested I share my experience with you, but mainly because of LewnWorx's incredible documentation of the Six-String Masterpiece Auction in his post to the forum. So I thought this may be of some interest to some of you. This is my first post attempting to include pics, so I hope this works and I apologize if I overdid the pics (but I know how much you all love pics!)

So here's my best bud Mark Ryden and me when our guitars arrived from the Dean factory. We were a little excited!

Image

After designing it, I begin tooling the skin.

Image

After a few days.

Image

Quite a jump here, but the sides are all done and it's all stained. It just needs to be hand stitched for the next couple days!

Image

Here is my brutha' Mark creating his Masterpiece. I've been trying for decades to get him to paint me a guitar!!

Image

Here it is, close to being finished.

Image

I put an abalone razor inlay on the headstock.

Image

I stripped the finish off the neck because I love the feel of a natural, tung oiled neck. Then I refinished the headstock.

Image

I had to at least take a picture with it.

Image

Here is a detail of the side with barbed wire.

Image

Here it is at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Hollywood, on display for the public to check out before the Six String Masterpiece auction.

I must say that I felt it a great honor to create this for such an event. I am a big Dime fan and unfortunately never got the opportunity to meet him. A close friend of mine got to know him pretty well and actually wrote the tribute article in Guitar World on him. He has always told me what a warm, genuine person Dime was.

Anyone got an original warhead head for sale?
by Serbusfish on Fri Aug 31, 2007 5:35 pm
well, i just set up my warhead combo as I havent even turned the thing on in months, and its sounded killer! im just running boss metal zone > mxr 6 band > hush > amp and im in love with the tone. so ive been thinking, I could sell the RG100ES, buy a warhead head, sell the combo, and get a 4x12 instead. So has anyone got a warhead head for sale? im still not certain i wanna sell the RG yet, but id like to know in advance if anyone has a warhead for sale. If I do end up selling the RG id love to do a trade, RG100ES + some cash in exchange for a warhead head, but if not id have to sell the RG first before I could pay for the warhead. so yeah if anyone is selling one please let me know
