OK, as requested, heres a breakdown of the second Washy st pro that i have aquired. Its not completely finished yet becasue I ran into a snag but heres what I have so far. I dont want to make it into a Dean VS washburn type post but bottom line THIS particular guitar is no better or worse that any Dean import Ive come across. After looking underneath the hardware, its obvious that Washburn uses the same factory. I mean, how many guitar factories are in Korea anyway right?
A little before glamour shots of the front and back.
I really like these traction knobs they use on these.
String tree on this one.
Fretboard. This one is a bit more brown than the other. VERY dry as well. More on what a dry fretboard will do later on.
Buzz Feiten tuning system.
Although not 100% sure, this must be why the nut is like it is.
A shot at the neck. Undeniably a V neck.
These cavity covers are cut so tight to the caivty they are almost impossible to get off, it took like 5-10 minutes just to get the covers off!!
Ahh got em off. Smaller cavity for the floyd. When taking the floyd off with the strings attached, its a nightmare trying to squeeze it out, but i guess more wood means more sustain right?
Why on earth would they put 250k pots ina guitar equipped with dual humbuckers? This I will never figure out. The sound of it is pretty middy through the X2. These pots take some bottom end out. Its like plugging in and instantly having Slayer type mids. Not bad but I like deep bottom end....soon enough.
Notice the wiring of the Dimebucker is not wried like what is suggested on the SD wiring diagram. They have the green and black wired together instead of the red and white and using the red as the "hot" instead of the black.
pretty clean cavities overall, not like USA on this one but its better than some Ive seen.
As you can see, the koreans dont pay any attention to detail when they drill out the tuner holes. At least they did it before clearcoating.
As you can also tell, its a common practice to not let the clearcoat dry before putting on hardware. Theres more where this came from.
Washburn shaller floyd. Same as what they put on the USA Dimes.
Floyd post was broke when I got it. It still work like it is, just cosmetic. These floyds are every bit as good as the OFR if not better. They come preoiled to prevent rusting. As you can see, surface rust has taken plae on one of the allen bolts. I took that out and just wiped it off. It never took to the metal. What a relief.
Hmm, foam under the entire floyd. Dont see why they do this becasue the floyd sits on top of it so it doesnt float as much as it could if it werent there.
Let see what hides underneath. A little sticky with some run off from the transblack paint.
Took care of that with some goo gone.
Lets have a look under the pups and see what we have.
Not bad but another example of putting on hardware before clearcoat is cured. They even put the damn pups in before it was cured...ugggh.
Nice neckjoint. I like how they leave some wood inbetween the end of the neck and the pup cavity. Makes for easier fret access not jammed in there so far.
More shots of indentations from uncured clearcoat.
The shaft for the pots on these are a bit smaller than normal. I had to open up the holes a bit to fit in the 500k pots when I replaced them.
Heres something that caught my eye. maybe they should have used a bit bigger jack plate. As you can see, theres not much fro the screws to grab onto, but it does hold and they are tight.
On to replacing the pots. Out with the old.
In with the new. Not the best soldering in the world but it works.
Fits nice after a bit of munipualtion with the holes.
On to the fretboard. Heres where I ran into a snag. Dry fretboard jsut kept soaking it up like it hasnt ever seen it before.
Came out looking alot darker than it was. You can see in the Stealth pr0n thread just how brown it was before. looks alot better now.
Now for the snag that i mentioned. When I had put the oil on the fretboard and was scrubbing it, I noticed that there was 2 frets that had lifted up. One on the 11th fret and one on the 8th. They werent that bad but on the 11th fret on both sides you could push it down and it would spring back up. Its not real high but you could slide a razorblade under it. So heres my thought on what could have happened. Noone ever oiled the fretboard ever and when the wood contracted the fret had seperated from the glue causing it to pop up. Either that or it wasnt set to begin with.
There is absolutely no fretbuzz that is caused by this issue but little things like that bug the hell out of me after I notice them so instead of going and paying $100+ and gas money for a 2 hours trip to get it fixed, I called up a local luthier of 25 years and recommended that I takes some Elmers or wood glue and squeeze it in under the fret as much as possible, work the fret so the glue has a chance to travel deeper in the slot and then clamp it for a couple days to make sure the glue has cured. So thats what I did. I already had the glue and C clamps, made myself a neck support, put a cushion in it and clamped er down. Now I wait.
Ill post more later on to show how well the fret took.
I decided to oil the fretboard on the other stealth and catch a couple glamour shots of that too sooo.
After it was oiled. This fretboard is black black.
Heres another unique thing I noticed. Since i dont have the best lighting, I decided to break out the flashlight and was looking at the grain of the fretboard and then went on to taking a closer look at the guitar its self with the brighter light. Warlock take note here. You would have thought that they would use black paint for the burst but in fact it is not black, its more of a purple. You could never tell unless you put it under light. You cant even really tell out in the sun. So yeah there ya go, you want a finish just like this one, dont jsut go out and get black, obviously there is a science to getting this type f transblack finish.

What happened?
It's down?
I got alot of stuff from there, but still wanting more.... anyone?
which one should I choose?
by DeanFH on Mon Jun 02, 2008 5:33 pm
In case I cannot buy a Dean stealth I was thinking of buying a Washburn Dime guitar but I cant figure out which one to choose from; one of the FM D3 models or the Dime Pro V off muscians friend.....Any suggestions?
Dimebag tone using Amplitube Metal...
Hey, first post!
I joined today because I have just ordered a Dean FBD Ml Lefty!!
I thought I'd post one of my clips on here to get your thoughts on my attempt at Dimebag's tone.
I recorded this using a Line 6 Toneport and Amplitube Metal. Double tracked left and right.
http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/face_the_fear/ (Under Dimebag Tone Final)
I cant wait to record with my Dean when it arrives. This clip i'm showing you was recorded with a Musicman Axis.
What do you think?
I've read alot about Dimebag's rig on this forum and I know there is some people on here that know what their talking about so I thought I'd might aswell post it and see what you guys think.
Doeas anyone know why they did not put a floyd on the 2 tone stealth? that kind of upsets me, cause dime actually used one like that and there is no floyd.
http://boomp3.com/listen/csx0nfd/walk-2 this is what my dime rig sounds like with my settings ,except im using an emg 81 insted of the bl and its just one head the second doubled head is not hooked up..Also I left the drum beat on there for other people to record there rig...oh yeah and this is super slop recorded in a few minutes just to get a general idea
I used
esp kh 600 emg 81
mxr six band furman pq 3
rocktron guitar silencer
randall rg 100 es
shure beta 58 mic and thats it
Total Guitar mag / smashed Washy DimeSlime
So, I was flippin' thru Total Guitar, a UK magazine similar to Guitar World. When I get to the gear review section, the editor "Ed Mitchell" is pictured with a green DimeSlime Washburn, with the headstock smashed off.
What's up with that? Is his pic printed like that every week, or just in this issue? I would have loved to buy the issue (Jimi Hendrix cover), but funds are tight right now and the mag was $17.25..., so I said f%^k that
Anyone else seen this? What's the story with the smashed Dime axe

Dime Razorback on the Price is Right, LOL!!!
I was watching TV earlier, and stumbled on the Price is
Right. There was Drew announcing the Dean guitar
Dime Razorback. Contestant had to guess the price,
but she guessed on the RV instead.
Does anyone know why dime put tape on his strings at the top of the neck right above the locking nuts. I ahve seen this on many occasions.
http://www.boogiestreet.com/bsgphotos/displayimage.php?album=21&pos=54
Did they ever make any copies of this? I do'nt think thy did but UI was wondering if mabye Boogie Street might have I would love to get my hands on one if there are.
Boogiestreet or Funky Munky
by DeanFH on Fri Jun 06, 2008 12:43 am
In your opinion, which company has the better buy on Dime model 333's?
I think Funky Munky, not just because of the guitars but the fact that you can actually buy it off of the main site instead of just eBay.
Hey,
Who has one of these?
IF you have one whats your thought on it?
Any sound clips?
where can I pick one up?
I might be looking to buy one in the near future......might have a guitar in the near future
thanks

Welcome everyone
I'm Sebastian from Poland ( Europe ) 19 years old, playing the electric guitar for 2 years now and finally i have registered at the Dean forums !
I am a long time lurker Just browsing the Dean forums well.. for a couple of months now
I'm a PanterA fan ( and Fear Factory, Slayer, Damageplan, Down, Superjoin Rit...), and I am truly amazed by the the knowledge of the members of this forum, I have learned a lot about Dime, Pantera and guitars in general just from reading awesome posts here.
Currently i own a Cheap Washburn WE32 "Dime" ( although on the guitar it isnt written its a "Dimebag signatur model" or anything.. but hey..." and a even cheaper amp - Behringer GM108
One of my dream guitars is a Dean DFH ( love the lightning bolt )
I hope in the future i will be able afford one ( Poland ehh... )
Thanks for reading... I hope my stay here will be a great time, as a lot of great people post here
Getcha' Pull
and a couple shots of my Washy
I know Dime used Spectraflex Fatsoflex cables. but does anyone know if he ever wnt with any other cables?
I might be getting this and was wondering if anyone else had it, to see if it is worth getting. and was looking for some feedback on the guitar.

There is hope for VH1!
Dimebucker or Bill Lawrence L500XL?
What do you guys think is better?
Ok I use to watch this show when I was a younger and one of my mates had lately told me that he got one of the movies.
So I'm watching this movie called Brolly and half way through the thing the song 10's is played, it plays the whole song while a battle and other s#%t is going on. I thought it was trippy. Would the guys that make zzz have to get permission to use that song?
Not the most interesting post, but the song just came out of the blue.
I'm pretty sure I saw a post on here aaaaaaggges ago about red MLs but I couldn't find it in the search.
I was wondering if you could actually get red MLFs (or MILFS as my brother calls them )? I've wanted one for ages but only ever seen pics of really rare USA ones, but can you actually get red import ones? In other words ones that wouldn't cost a small fortune

I hope you enjoy it.

OMG: Look What I Found !!! <-----
by OWNER on Mon Jun 09, 2008 2:59 am
OMFG.. I laughed my ass off when i was tidying up my cupboard.
I found my old Pantera sketches, drawn way back in 2000-2001 during the boredom of those frippin lessons in school. The first one is something i barely remember..
====================================
1) This is what happens when a 13 year old slaps in his "Watch It Go" VHS cassette every morning.. WHAT ON EARTH WAS I THINKING?! I've even Tipex'ed the Randall logos man!!!
====================================
2) Numba' two is great. I remember this well, in fact i remember i rushed on the background. DOH!
====================================
3) I remember this was drawn after i watched the CFH video. I think it resembles one of their musicvideos.. dunno, but i like the detail.. Vince is a pink pixel back there!
I guess i wasn't in notice that Phil had his Unscarred tatoo after CFH.
====================================
Hope y'all enjoyed it,
I did, and to tell you the truth, i miss those days..
When i used to visit the Pantera website through dial-up.. There was that cheap Flash site still playing back then! haha.. Just after R.T.Steel was released.
Pic of kiss sticker on DFH
Hi ,
does anybody have a good pic of the kiss sticker on dimeīs DFH??
THE SLEEP SOLO COVER

Ok, i put the title in caps cuz i know some of you have been really wanting to me to do the cover for quite some time.
This is AUDIO for now, i'll be doing the video in the next few days, as i got my camera in function again (woooo)!
Anyway, feast your ears (and eyes soon) on this and i hope you like it! Peace

New Guitar Day...ish...NDC
Whoever did the Floyd install on this thing knew what he was doing, not to mention the neck profile is not what I'm used to. It's wide, flat, and fast. This may be the slickest playing import I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The neck pickup is passable, but the bridge needs some love. I'm thinking Custom 5 since it's really articulate yet still has a pretty big butt. Better pics to follow the next sunny day. Man, if Washburn or Dean made necks like this now on their imports, I'd probably sell a bunch of USAs.
Dimebag Guitars, Rita, and rememberance
by styphon on Tue Jun 10, 2008 7:46 am
I know the discussion of Rita and the motives of dimebag guitars/merchandise is pretty much a dead, overtalked subject but I'd just like to make a very personal comment about it.
I lost one of the closest people in my life a little over a year ago, that person meant more to me than any material object, or any amount of money, or any experience could. If someone gave me a chance to make a line of guitars or t-shirts or whatever with her name and image on it, or something that would let people know her, or remeber her I would do it in a second. Hell, I would do it for free even if they made millions of dollars on it. Just the thought that other people would get to know/remeber the person that left this earth with a piece of my heart and soul would be enough for me. A *LARGE* part of me believes that Rita and Vinnie feel the same way. Who wouldn't want someone's name who they treasured to live on? For new people to find their loved one and get enjoyment from their works?
And for those people who haven't *YET* lost a very closed loved one, the pain *NEVER* goes away. You will feel it forever, 50 years after their death you will feel it in your bones when someone brings the person up. Bringing people enjoyment through a tragic event may help to fight back some of this everlinging since of loss.
What pickups do i have?
by dorian on Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:31 pm
Sorry guy's , below 70 IQ type question, brain fart ,whatever you want to call it , is the black and white pickup (neck position) in my FBD a Dean pickup ,the bridge is of course the Dimebucker. Also what is the pickup in the neck position of the Explosion model?
How many guitars get sold per year?
Every time I get a Musicians Friend catalog, I am amazed at just how many brands and models of guitars get made per year. Then I go to Sam Ash and Guitar Center every time I get a chance, and see all these brands and models on the walls, but rarely see anyone actually purchasing a one.
I realize that new players are born every day, and those of us that do play, buy a few of them, but it just strikes me as odd that dozens of companys are churning out guitars, and off brands of their own guitars, and that they are all finding homes.
Maybe this is a stupid topic, but does anybody know how many Deans get sold a year? I'm just curious.
I know a dude who buys guitars from America and then sells them here in England, and he's going to be getting the Dime Shadow in stock soon. I'm just wondering if anyone here has played or owns one as I'm very interested in it. Mostly I want to know what the neck is like, I know its a C neck but is it thin or fat? I also hear that the Blade pickup in the neck owns.
Domination tuning? ( wondering what it is )
Hey guys i was wondering the tuning on domination.. i see alot of tabs saying different things so i figured id ask eht pros if you know could you say it from lowest to highest string please?
Dean Stealth Two Tone W/ Floyd, production model coming?
I thought that Dean where only making the Snakeskin Stealth with a floyd, whilst keeping the two tone a string thru model? But on an ebay listing I just found BRG is selling one of the limited edition floyded stealths, and in the listing details it says, "Dean will be making a production version of this at some point this year." So does that mean Dean are now making a two tone stealth with a floyd, or am I just reading this sentance wrong? Here is the ebay listing:

does anyone know where I can get that sticker?
hey guys anybody got any info on these amps? I played a used one a local shop yesterday and it sounded pretty damm good to me, it was in perfect condition and they wanted $500 ya think thats a good deal??? Do ya think a warhead sounds better?? Ive got a 1st gen warhead and i liked the Cyclone better, more gain im thinkin i might try to sell it, its in perfect condition
i was at download and i was on the way to meet some of my buddys and i saw phil demmel just standing there i was so shocked to see him there i forgot i had a camera on my phone so i didnt get a chance to take a picture.
then i turn round to look at the jackson stand and i see someone come out.
f**kin sweet i held up my dime shirt and she looked at me and gave me the horns then came over gave me some skin and then said these are for you and gave me a load of picks with dime silhouettes on them.
and the creepy thing is that my girlfriend had a dream the week before download that this exact thing would happen so she made me remember to take my dimebag t-shirt incase rita was there.
how creepy is that.
that made my festival. and probably me and my g-friends year as well.
is the dean stealth horn with the toggle longer and wider then the razorback horn ? thanks in advance
hey does anyone know what effects dime used for floods?
OK so i got really bored....and I had a sharpie
so I free handed a tattoo i want....Dime's Black tooth grin tattoo
However it was too hard to draw on my ankle so I drew it on my thigh...just above the knee....
Pron anyone?
Pron of owners rgp thats going on a world tour!
I got owners rpg today and will post pron of it a bit later. it will be going out to him in the next few days.
I'm getting a custom guitar made courtesy of Feline Guitars, but first I need to finish the specs. I've got everything decided, except for one thing. The finish.
So if you guys have any suggestions or pictures of a cool design or whatever I'd be grateful.
I've decided if I can't come up with or choose a good enough design, I'm going to get either a red or blue burst trans top.

RG100ES
by Scorn on Wed Jun 18, 2008 11:17 am
Yeah another thread about the RG100ES! I have searched for what i need but i couldnt find much.
Well i have the chance to buy one and im just wondering if its worth it for my situation.... I only have my bedroom to jam in at the moment, is it possible to make (good sounding) use of this amp in a bedroom where i cant exactly have it turned up all that much? Or is that just going to be pointless? I do have a garage but im sure its pretty damp in there which wouldnt agree with the inside of it!
Cheers.
Has anyone ever seen one of these?
its is clearly Camo.
also wondering if anyone knows a place to get that black one he wears. I have a blakc BLS Hat from Bravadousa but its not the same thing.
What is your favorite solo that Dimebag played?
Just curious to know.
Mine is on "Save Me" by Damageplan.

In this vid of dime, at the 2:45 mark (till 2:52ish), he rips out the best cyclical pattern ive ever heard..... I cant work it out, ive downloaded programs that slows it down but there is a hell of a lot of background noise when it goes past a point. The only song that has a similar lead to it is in Fractured Mirror, sounds awesome Anyone have an idea what it looks like in tab form? I have an idea what it may be but its kicking my ass...

Sorry if this is a repost ( I search'd), but it's the first time I've stumbled across this recording:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcskzJm6BfA&feature=related
Anyone have this file posted up?
I know the search is here, but i want a REAL answer. Does ANYBODY know every kind of amps, equipment, rack gear, so on that Dime used? I thought he just used Randalls and some rack stuff, but know i see pics of him with Carvins, and empty Kranks. It just gets confusing. Like NOBODY will EVER be able to get his sound exactly.
How do you like that? Wish i ahd photoshop so i could make it look better, wanna put 5150 on the top fin where dime had trendkill on the washy.
I know it sucks.
sorry if this has already been brought up but has anyone else noticed someone's put a recording of Dime's death on youtube?
i haven't watched it (just thinking about its bad enough), but i was wondering why someone hasn't taken it off? should it really be allowed to post a video of someone's death on there? regardless of who it is, I'm not saying it should be taken off just cos its Dime, but why would anyone want to watch something like that?
I known this has been done already, but what do you think of mine, I did this along time ago, before I knew one was made. just what do you think of it?
It would say Cowboys From Hell onthe neck
I dont want people saying"oh thats been done already" as Like I said I alreadyknow.[/img]

Dime and Rex's input cables?? Where are they??
by _Jon on Sun Jun 22, 2008 1:53 am
Ok, this might be a n00b question, but when I'm watchin' Pantera live vids, I'm looking for their input cables from the guitar to the amp, but I don't see them, plus they're both running around like crazy I don't see how they don't tangle them up, is it wireless or what??
Yes I've searched comprehensively before anyone asks
Many different takes on whether it's the 3 or 4 to be going for.
One of the posts I read says it was a 4 for all except Trendkill?
I've got an '87 RG-100ES on the way and I want to get relatively close to the Dime sound. The 4 will get me closer than the 3 yeah? I also use an MXR KFK-1 10 band.
I wanna be putting it guitar > MXR > Furman > RG right?
Or do I really NEED a flanger/doubler?
No posts saying "get your own sound" as I already have my own sound with my ENGL and ESPs thanks
Cheers
Righty, I currently have my 2 ESPs and my USA DFH (all is listed in my sig actually) and have craving for another big mahogany beast
I've been thinking of somehow going about a wavy rebel flag Stealth.
The ways I could do this would be either:-
1. pick up a Washy (could be difficult as I've found myself to maybe be too snobby regarding quality in comparison to my other guitars) which would have to be a USA model so that I can get it refinished.
2. Get some company like RAN to make it (but I've never played one so don't know how good they are alleged to be?)
3. Get one of the Dean Stealths (either the Snakeskin and maybe get it refinished unless it looks totally badass! or the Limited Edition TT with Floyd).
With #3, I dunno how the level of quality is again in comparison to the others? And also, I prefer the Washy headstock shape
What do you folks reckon? I guess the other option (if the Razorback headstock shape grows on me) is to go custom Dean. But it's just expensive
is this any good ?

I've seen the models that don't have Dime's name on the HS, and know that they're not production models, making them sort of rare. But how rare are the ones that DO have Dime on the HS?
New Level Of Confidence Intro
Before the riff, Dime does this thing in the first second or so, how does he do it, I don't think its any sort of harmonic, but I have been known to be wrong...

Ok, so my wife started wathcing this show called Crisis Point, basically a show that runs along the lines of COPS only they show entire videos of amazing incidents that have happened in thier call of duty.
So, I sat down to watch it and they start talking about Officer James niggemeyer coming across paths with Dimebag Darrell. I was like like, wow this is shocking, Im surprised that they would even cover this, so I kept watching, big mistake. Started off talking with James and how it was Dec 8, 2004 and it was a night that he wished had never existed. Dude was actually tearing up. Then as his interview went on they were showing clips of him in his patrol car that night before and as the 911 calls were coming in.
You should probably stop reading right here if you are good at making vdeo in your head after reading.
Thats where I should have stopped watching but they were showing video that has never been released before of before the inceident and what was happening outside. Then it got to the bad parts. Heres where it got me. They had so many different camera angles of that stage, theres not really much that didnt get caught on tape. As the video clips were rolling from start to finish, they showed video of Dime on stage playing, walking over to his amps and then showed the video of asswipe walking across the stage and then switching camera angles right to Dime in front of the amps and that asswipe right behind him at point blank...then they stopped the tape. I was shocked to say the least that they showed this. Thats not all either, right after that they showed fans and others running toward Dime and the guy firing at them to get away. This was pretty were I should have stopped watching again but figured I already saw the part that was the most disturbing...it wasnt. They then showed another video from the front of the stage after he had killed Mayhem and others, and believe it or not, they edited nothing out at that point. There were bodies not moving on the stage. It was horrifying. Then they went to where James Niggemeyer was sneaking in the back door as people were running out. Showed him sneaking behind all the amps with his shotgun. Heres where I thought that maybe assface saw James, but he didnt, he had no idea that the officer was behind him off to the side. They were showing asswipe with the hostage in a headlock as he was shooting into the crowd, then it got to the point of James raising up the shotgun as people were yelling "shoot him! shoot him!" and then firing ending it all. It was unbelievable that they showed everything other that his head being blown off, they edited that split second out but continued on as he fell to the ground and the hostage got away.
Anyway, the show was pretty much aimed at James heroic act to go in the venue all by himself and deal with that crazed lunatic. Sorry if this was graphic but I was so surprised to see this I thought I would share jsut how aweful it was to be hit with this video so unsuspecting. It basically had me at the couch reacting like I was at a really scary horror flick. Im stil shocked that they showed as much video as they did. What that Lil' Buddy on youtube keeps posting is nothing compared to what they showed here. I wouldnt be surprised if this video ends up on there too.
