People who read this will choose to view it as either positive or negative. I know that because some people on this board have hated on Dime and people who like Dime. That's okay; this is a message board, where people write messages stating their opinion.
I'm not trying to hear any hate from the haters. I don't let haters get me down. Fortunately for all of us, people like Dimebag Darrell Abbott have lived and have inspired us to love or hate thru music.
Nothing is wrong with loving or hating. I hate things. Everyone hates things. I hate things that frustrate me. When Dime had a problem with a part of his rig, he said some curse words, probably kicked it or whatever Dime thought would fix the problem, maybe even lit it on fire, blew it up, hit it with a baseball bat, ran into it with a car, or whatever.
Pantera was on tour in support of Vulgar Display of Power and was at a local music store when I met them for the first time. Pantera always made time for their fans. They realize that their fans are all just people like them and would "jump out into the audience and kiss 'em all!"
They appreciated their fans for buying and listening to their music as well. If any one in Pantera ever forgot that, they really shouldn't have. Quality people who do what Pantera did don't do that kind of thing.
In my opinion, none of us should allow what happened to a quality person, artist and guitar player to get us down. Pantera wouldn't have let something like that keep them from making some of the best music ever. Pantera always had the balls to say what they had to say and they inspired us all for doing so.
When Phil would say the music they were playing was bad ass, he was a cocky son of a bitch for saying so. Phil had every reason to say it though. Whoever fronts a band like Pantera needs to be a cocky son of a bitch. The fact that Phil was fronting a band like Pantera gave him the right to be a cocky son of a bitch in my opinion.
Some people hate on Phil Anselmo for doing what he does. Phil is a man; a human. We're all human. We all have emotions and feelings and need to express them just like Phil Anselmo does.
Most people will probably tell you that Phil Anselmo shouldn't do the drugs he's done. They'll tell you that not only are drugs bad for you, but they hurt you and who you are. I think people use drugs to escape the world they live in. That is why I drink or have even tried smoking tobacco or anything a little stronger.
People have been using drugs for thousands of years. Beer was brewed in ancient Egypt. The Oracle at Delphi used the natural gas escaping from the Earth there to bring herself into a trance where she could give predictions that people used to decide what to do with their lives.
Phil Anselmo being the cocky son of bitch he is thought he could take those drugs and he'd be able to handle it. I don't think he would have taken those drugs in the first place if believed in himself enough, like the people who kick addictive drugs after they've become addicted to them.
So what if Phil was a little insecure with himself? That doesn't bother me because like Phil, I'm a human, and all humans feel insecure some times. I learned that from Pantera.
Phil was a man when he put those scars on his wrists and took those drugs. And he was a man for admitting that he did it. Phil was being honest when he sang "Can you tell I'm a man." He was being honest, not just cocky.
Some people probably blame Phil for Pantera breaking up. Whether they are wrong or right will not change anything. People just have to choose to both view Pantera, and everything about Pantera then, now or ever, as positive or negative.
I choose to look at it from a positive perspective. I do that because people like Dimebag, Vinnie, Phil, and Rex had the balls not let anything or anyone get in the way of telling me how to feel or express myself. They taught me to have the balls not to be afraid of what people thought of me.
We all can learn so much from Pantera if we just allow ourselves to look at things from a positive perspective. We can all take what we learned from Pantera and be every bit as bad ass as Pantera. If we all would just have the balls that Pantera did, Pantera would have done an even greater thing than what they have.
Had everyone, all of us, been a little more positive, I don't think things would have gone done as they went down. I don't think we would have to feel bad about missing people who are no longer with us in a lot of cases. If anyone has the balls to say that staying positive isn't a good thing in any situation, me, Pantera, and countless other musicians have the balls to challenge you. You're going lose. We all lose if we allow ourselves to be negative.
Dime, Phil, Rex, Vinnie - Pantera. Thank all of you for having the balls to make me a better person. Thank all of you for having the balls to say what’s on your mind and not letting anything get in your way.
No hater is getting in my way. Go ahead and try haters. I have the balls to say exactly what's on my mind about Pantera because of people in bands like Pantera. If you can't see how powerful Pantera was then, now or forever, at least I had the balls to try to tell you.
I love you brother Dime!!!
You did come to rock. You did rock like no other.
i saw some krank vid where they said the plus had upgraded transformers and tubes to change the amp voicing.............so i mean without dime behind those changes......does it really count as his tone?
New to the forum, hope this is in the right thread, if not move pls.
Hey guys I just bought an X2 off the bay, don't even have it yet, got it for $600. This is my first real head and I don't even have any sort of cabinet. I was wondering what kind of cab would work best.
I'm looking for a 4 x 12" cab. I don't have a lot of money to spend. I was thinking of buying some sort of used marshall cab and dropping four eminence texas heat drivers in there (same as krankenstein cab). I already use one texas heat driver in my Marshall Valvestate 80V combo as a replacement and it sounds great in an open back combo like this one, incredible improvement over the stock celestion g12T75 however it may be too dark for the x2 in a closed back cab?
I understand that the orginal x2/warhead cabs used celestion v30s? not sure on that one. Maybe a mix of 2 texas heats and 2 eminence wizards/legendv12s would do the trick for me? That's my best guess so far.
Would like some opinions on any cabs, speakers (preferably eminence, better value) you guys use with your X2s, any information is greatly appreciated
many thanks in advance

I had an Issue of Guitar World's 100 Best Solos special edition thingy, and they had a full page on flood at #17 or something with a pic of dime and a trendkill ML, some weird furry boots, rediculous shades and an uncle sam hat? or something equally hilarious... anyway I would LOVE to see that pic again, If anyone has it, scan and put it up *please*.

cfh guitar questions
by marker on Wed Feb 11, 2009 2:45 pm
Well, I had been looking for a new dean for sometime now. I live in the sticks and was about to make the trip up to Oklahoma city to the guitar center to check out a few.(the last times I was there was only a dimeoflame, so anyways, I stop over at the next town and check out a pawn shop. BOOM! There it was a cfh guitar. Its in mint shape with like 2 small chips. I scored it and a washburn case for 400 bucks, so I felt like it was meant to be. So I get her home and hook it up. right off the bat It played like a dream, but I want a better floyd, maybe original. Anyone know what is a direct replacement? Also, it had 10's on it and sounded cool, but I like 9's so I switched em out and even adjusted the height of the bridge, but I got a wicked buzz on my low e that I can't adjust out from the crappy floyd. Anyone else with one of these run 9's with any luck, or am I just gonna have to suck it up and use 10's? Sorry if any of these questions have been asked before dudes. Thanks for any help.

Beware! stealth washy pic
Since all these stealth pics keep popping up, I figured Id post a couple of mine, sorry about the bad quality, the lighting and my camera SUcks!!!
first, heres where they stay!!!
Notice Dime signed it twice, first he did the small name in black then put the "DImes" and CFH on there! He was in good shape that day!
Quick clip from Stealth 002
Today I am boxing this one up to go back to Washburn as every control cover on this guitar is melted into the finish and absolutely will not come off with out killing the finish! I suspect that was due to this one being put together quickly for the 2000 NAMM Show and that the covers were slapped on before the paint was fully dry.
Anyway I threw down a quick solo clip over a jam track before it left. I plugged the Stealth straight into the Fender Prosonic head I bought off Brad Whitford from Aerosmith which was run into an Avatar 2/12 with 75's and miced with a SM57. There were no effects used. Please excuse my slop as I am used to playing shreadder neck 80's -90's Carvins and still struggling to get used to this thick V neck profile on the Stealth.

Improved 2ST - Not Bradley's!
by fuzz on Thu Feb 19, 2009 6:02 am
Sorry Bradley, I couldn't resist!
Just got back my 2ST from my Luthier with a few upgrades;
I purchased this ax from a forum member a while back & she'd had a bit of a hard life so I thought I'd give her a new paint job
Replaced the crappy stock pups with new SD Blackouts (Cheers Vince!) & routered in an origy didge Floyd
Threw in 2 more neck screws (should've been a factory addition!) & relocated the strap pin
Not a bad looker that!
My P & J's
HERE'S TO YOU BROTHER DIME, RIP....
Dime's P.H's
by fuzz on Thu Feb 19, 2009 7:34 am
As much as I try, with as much gain as I use & with whatever guitar I play, I cannot nail the pinch harmonics in the chorus to Cemetary Gates.
I have been playing for a fairly long time & can p.h quite well, I just can't get that same sound as in the song.
Is it possible Dime used something efx wise to get that sound or was he just THAT good at them??
OR....am I more guitar technique challenged than I thought??!!
RIP DIME

Ok, I love the output of the l500xl in my cfh, but when you roll off of the knob, It does not get any clener until like 1. anyone recommend a pickup with the bite of the BLxls, but cleans up when turned down? I love the sound of the l500's by the way!
