Certainly nice, but I doubt the story.
Cool mojo if true though.

BLOW THAT PLAIN JANE ML UP!!! BOY, DID HE EVER!!!!
Did dime ever write his music down?
Just wondering really - did he ever write stuff down (on more than napkins and s#%t) or input into tab or such? I can't imagine him sitting down with powertab (lols) but did he ever need to write stuff down? Was it all just audio stuff on an old fourtrack like he goes on about in riffer madness?
It's be cool to see if he'd written down licks or that - especially some of the mental stuff like the solo to "death trap". I don't expect he did though...
[An aside: Do artists (or people on behalf of the artists) have to also write stuff down to copyright it as well as recording it? What made me think of it was the recent hassles websites are having with publishing tabs. That content counts as a copyrighted material, so I wondered if labels have stuff written as well as just recorded, for this sort of stuff. ]

Krank Ads from Guitar WOrld 05-06
by Graunke on Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:28 pm
Anyone have scanned copies of these ads?
I'm looking for them.
Guitar World circa 05-06, the Krank ads featured Dime. On the back cover perhaps?
Anyone collect GW mags??
One of the best Dime interviews on youtube haha
Seriously one of the best Dime interview vids i have ever seen hahaha. Pure 9 minutes of music history.

I have a krankenstein jr 50 for and im debating on getting rid of it. I don't know how many people have actually a/b a randall rg (boosted of course), and the krankenstein but they are extremely different, let me say that again, EXTREMELY DIFFERENT. Now let me say this, the stein is a great amp it just depends on what you want it for. The clean is amazing!!!! especially w/ a custome audio boosting it, great for blues and jazz. With the mid sweep function you get ....ALMOST.....ALMOST....any tone you want. Just so you know my back ground on amps so dont think im an idiot amp tweeker, ive played through these amps most of my playing years, randall rg, peavey xxx, jcm 800,peavey classic 30, and about any recto(since our music store is huge mesa guy, by the way i hate them. I'm the type of tone junky that more than likely every amp I play I can find some sort of tweaking in the eq that could be done, whether its in the front end or the fx loop.
problem 1
I will be the first to say the stein doesn't have enough usable gain. You know that dime crunch?, now im not looking for dimes tone only my own, but i know what my ears want to hear. You can use the fx loop for a bit more gain but to me it just thins it out and if your wanting something geared towards a dime tone a thin sound is not where you want to be. I tried boosting the front and shaping in the fx loop and if you don't know about these amps once you go past a certain gain point they just squeal horribly when the fx is engaged.
Problem 2
I know im probably going to start a war with this one and probably some nasty comments. The one negative i have aabout tube amps is the bass response and bass tightness(especially for metal). I have played a lot of amps in searching for some other amp instead of a randall rg series, majority of them tube amps since thats pretty much all you can get now. The majority have this really wide bass range that turns into one big blob of mush(sorry just how i feel). to be more exact listen to pantera songs, Medicine Man or Becoming, the bass in those songs is well Indescribable!!!! there is really nothing like it for me.
now my questions
doesnt anyone have any tips on getting more useable gain and tighter(more dimish) botton end out of tube amps? and whoever says just slap a furman pq in front or fx loop, parametric eq's cant fix everything, even the furman.
thanks
