5 minutes alone
on Tue Dec 07, 2010 4:56 pm
Potentially dumb question alert.
Im new to a lot of this music, and like I said on a previous post, you can buy dvd's, tab books, look on youtube, and you'll find 10 different ways to play songs.
On the intro to a song like 5 minutes alone...
Are those most likely power chords? Or single notes?
I just cant tell.

(this is still in development by the way)
R.I.P DImebag Darrell.... 1966 - 2004
Never to be forgotten!
Blow it up!!!
How do you like your blacktooth?
I hear varying recipes so I just roll with whatever I'm in the mood for at the time since dime didn't even specify on the video I saw.
I do 2 shots of 7 and just enough coke to turn it black. What about you?
had to share my past Halloween picture. I don't have many pictures but it was the best costume in town. even had a little orange amp on my belt loop. R.I.P. Dime. Let the sheep-calling begin!
Ordered a Dime o flame today in his honor. Any tips?
on Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:35 am
Six years to the exact date! Yeah, I'm a Dime fan and this is my first Dean ML---the O'Flame (great Irish name). Should be arriving at my local dealer here in Houston in 4-7 days. Any advice, suggestions, tips on what to expect from this ax? Will I indeed have to do transplant surgerey (OFR and pups)?
Never before published, hand written note from Dime

This was posted by Evan Skopp of Seymour Duncan. Thought you guys might appreciate seeing a few words from the man himself:
that's what she said
so i'm learning message in blood. don't know if my tab is right or not, but the way its written... i'm just on the first 30 seconds and damn these riffs are killing me. the phrasing is just awkward as %$#@!. this whole time i thought it was phrased a certain way, then i look at tabs, go back and listen to the song, and realize that he's adding extra weird notes in there that i didn't originally notice. anyone learn this song?
Hey i been using my doubler and it deff helps with that dime sound.. but any help on how to use this thing ? the settings i see around in the pics have so many marks on the face of the doubler im not sure what ones work.. to me i set it around ..manual about 25% up from min.. with and speed about 10 % up mix about 30% and regen about 65 % invert out on doubler mode.. give it a try this is with just one head .. i have a feeling the manual would go up to about 75% once hooked up to 2 heads. and what to you turn up to make that solo lead tone heard on teh dime clinic
5.5 years without cigarettes

I really miss smoking.
I'm better off for having quit, but it's still an itch that must be recognized for what it is.
I can only imagine that those who have kicked heroin feel the same way. You see it, you want it, but you know in the back of your head that it may only take that one time to unwind everything that it's taken to get to that point.
Even cigar smoking. You can't huff on one of those, because it's like a former president splitting hairs over whether a BJ in the hallway constitutes "s ex". Cigars are close enough to gets that it'd count. "Say Bill.....did you put any part of yourself in any part of that girl? Yes or no? Not maybe. It's a yes or no question." Smoking a cigar is smoking and, thus, it can't be done.
Sigh. Maybe I'll go stand downwind from someone in the parking garage and take nosehits from the second hand smoke.
If you could ask for one gift this Christmas and it had to be an existing Dimebag oriented or related merchandise... and the price had to be under fifty bucks... WHAT WOULD IT BE?
T-Shirt? CD? DVD? Ashtray? Shot glass? Miniature guitar? Photo? Poster? Guitar pick? ??? ??? ??? ???

Tune in this Saturday, December 18 to MTV2 Headbanger's Ball: The Year in Metal. The show will open with 15 seconds of Pantera's "Piss." The unreleased track will be included in Pantera's upcoming Vulgar Display of Power package coming in 2011.
Sneak a peek at this Saturday's show here: http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/606304/headbangers...
Now, I thought that there was no extra material from Pantera on any of thier records. First there was the unreleased track from cfh, and now one surfaces from vulgar? Kinda odd but very cool. cant wait to hear this.
Some Dime that some of you may not have heard
Anthrax riding Shotgun... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blAOy9VgNF8
Dime's playing is absolutely not comparable. He was THE man!!
Those who have heard this don't bash, just throwing it out there for peeps not in the know, plus we all need to hear this again...
Is an outright incredible song. From start to finish, its absolutly amazing. Imo, one of the best songs from Dime and damageplan or pantera or any other project out together. Amazing riffs, heartfelt solo, and inspiring and emotional lyrics. A downright master peice, as are all other Damageplan songs. For your listening pleasure....

did any1 get a recording of pantera's piss clip from the headbangers they can shear, the mtv site won't let out of US watch it.
Hello! Long-time Dime fan checkin' in.
Hey guys, my name is Drew.
I've been lurking here for a few weeks, reading all of allovertonite, rottingcorpse, Grady and Chad Lee's killer stories of my biggest human inspirations.
Thank you guys so much for posting all you have, it really means a lot to me, personally, and surely to everyone else here too.
I'll be at NAMM this January and would love to meet up with anyone from the forum who is going to be there. If Dean has Dime's guitars on display again, chances are you'll bump into me because I won't be leaving that area for the first 2 days of NAMM!
Random question about the Blacktooth amp
on Sat Dec 25, 2010 12:50 pm
Anyone ever thrown a Sonic Maximizer in the loop? If you have, lemme hear it!
I have wondered this since the get-go of em. My Warhead is nothing without the BBE and I'm very curious as the Dime head could potentially replace the Randall depending. Thanks!
Dime on the radio (Cowboys From Hell Era)!!
This is so cool. Like an hour and a half of dime just playing riffs and kicking ass. I just downloaded it last night and have listened to about half of it.
|Pantera (Dime & Vinnie Paul)
Z Rock Studios
November 1, 1990
AM Broadcast • 9/10
In commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of the death of Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, I dug up an old cassette that I had recorded nearly 20 years ago. While promoting their new album "Cowboys From Hell", Dimebag (then known as "Diamond Darrell") and his brother Vinnie Paul stopped by the Z Rock Network studios in Dallas, TX and hung out with DJ Madd Maxx Hammer, took phone call requests that Dime would play on a very cheap guitar and amp. The result is about 100 minutes of hilarity. I was listening to some of this as it happened in my car and nearly drove off the road a couple of times laughing so hard. It's a crappy AM recording, but you really don't need much more because there isn't much music, other than Dime's guitar slaying. Most tracks are pretty short, so there are a lot of them.
