I'm going to do a cover of this song. I was listening to it on my way home from work and thought "I wonder if it's been covered already?"
The man Dimebag himself covered it. Looks like I'm going to use an ML for mine.

Dime V Pro's,killer guitars get sum if ya can!!
The strangest thing...
by Culprit on Tue Feb 09, 2010 10:16 pm
I had made plans to meet this guy and buy another Bill Lawrence l500xl to put in the guitar I'm about to build. I bought it used for pretty cheap. We decided to meet at 6.30pm. Although I already own 2 BL l500 pickups, I spent some time on the tube looking at what kind of sounds people were able to get from theirs.
Since the Bill Lawrence pickup is strongly associated to Dime, some clips of Randall amps came up in the "related video" box to the right. I started searching for rg100ES amps, and spent some time watching the clips I found, then I left the computer and didn't think moore about that.
Now on to the weird stuff...
It's around 10.00pm and I'm looking through some of my recently aquired movies. I decide to watch the flick "Magnolia". I randomly choose this movie amongst the others, and I've never seen it before.
The movie begins and seems promising. Then at aprox 8minutes into the film you move through a room with some random stuff in it, and in the middle of it I see something familiar...
A Vintage Randall RG100es...
I just found it a bit weird and cool at the same time, and thought I'd share it with you guys as an attempt to vent a little over this coincidence

When I Met Diamond Darrell
yes,, Diamond Darrell....before he became Dimebag.
I just joined the forum here couple days ago. Just ordered me a Dean Dime O Flame, and thought Id share this story...as I wait for my axe to arrive.
I was stationed at FT HOOD,TX in 1983/84. Our favorite place for live rock/metal bands was a club in nearby Harker Heights called the WOODSTOCK. Lot of great international and local rock bands played there. THis was in the prime metal days of the 80's.
A band that I liked that played quite a bit was Pantera. Always a great show I recall. One night, after a break in the set, I go up to the bar, and there sit couple guys of the band.( We all drink a beer and chat and Im proudly showing them my recently new tattoo that I recieved that week from Daves Tatttoo parlor in Killeen. We started comparing tattoos..(so Im guessing its young Darrell here)
dimebag's cfh/ml tattoo (cover up)
by ATR1990 on Sun Feb 14, 2010 6:55 pm
So I was recently watching the 88' footage of dime playing his mid slot solo (when he ends with floods). I noticed he had a skull where his cfh/ml tattoo is on the right arm. Did the cfh/ml tatt cover it.
Looking at the size of the skull it wouldn't have been possible to cover it up.
Maybe A.O.T could clarify

Did Dime Save Heavy Metal?
Don't take this the wrong way...
I know Dimebag won the title of saving heavy metal in the 90's when Metal was declared dead.
But for me, he and Pantera set the bar so high for Metal, that its hard for me to completely enjoy any other band because Pantera was so great and Dimebag was so bad-azz!!
So Dime kinda screwed it up for the other guys lol..
Don't get me wrong, there are some great bands out there, but none hit the spot quite like Pantera but a few for me..
Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Vader are a few that bands I love besides Pantera..
I was just watching the Judas Priest documentary about British Steel. I was thinking about how cool it would be to be watching it with Darrell. We'd be smiling the whole time, all excited. "Dude, get ya a pull off that". So, one of my favorite storys...
Hell bent for leather had just come out (for you young ones, thats Judas Priest, 1978) so we were about 11 years old. I managed to get the album via that K-Tel records 10 albums for 10 cents deal. Anyhow, so I put the album on at home, listened to it, & then called Darrell to proclaim the power of Priest. Then I walked over to his house & told him it was time to be blown away. They had the baddest stereo in the whole neighborhood, a Marantz component system (Rita still has it, I saw it the other day). I told him to sit down & listen. So he sat down, & I put on the album, & then I sat down. We were both sitting across the room from the stereo, about ten feet. As the first notes wound up, about ten seconds into it, I was sitting there smiling about to revel in the awe of the Priest, & noticed Darrell looking at me with that look I knew all too well. All of a sudden, in a flash he jumped up, ran to the stereo, grabbed my glorious disk of mayhem & flung it across the room as hard as he could, right into the wall where it managed to break to pieces, all the while running around with fists raised proclaiming "JUDAS PRIEST SUCKS, KISS RULES!!!" I just sat there stunned briefly, & then started crying. That f u c k e r had just smashed my Hell bent for leather album, & it wasen't coming back. I got up, walked out of the house & walked home crying, so pissed Darrell had pulled another fast one on me. He followed me out of the house, & halfway home, still proclaiming Kiss as the saviour of all to me & the whole neighborhood. "KISS RULES KISS RULES JUDAS PRIEST SUCKS!!!" What a f u c k e r.
Funny thing is, many, many years later, he tells me stories of having the JP dudes coming to stay at his house & hanging out, very personal stories. I would listen to him & just think, f u c k man, how in the hell did WE get HERE??? As kids, we never would have imagined...
MEMORIES MAN... YOU FILLED MY LIFE WITH SOME OF THE BEST DUDE. THANK YOU...
BLOW THAT S H I T UP DUDE!!!
Is it possible to get one made in the custom shop? Hand painted so the flames don't look all digitized?
Ok, so f u c k i t, while I'm at it, here's another one of my faves.
The year is 1982.
So one day, I'm sitting in my room (not sure what I was doing) and Darrell comes over. Back then, when we would go to someones house we would just walk in, no ringing the doorbell or knocking formalities, just bust on in & make yourself at home. So anyhow I'm sitting in my room and in walks Darrell with an album in his hand. The album is Number of the beast (Iron Maiden for you kiddos). The album had just come out & he had managed to get it before I had. So he walks in, kind of glances at me, and goes over to the record player and puts it on. Now so far, not a word has been spoken. Just a few glances exchanged, thats it. So as the disk spools up, he grabs a guitar (his Hondo strat Eddie Van Halen black & yellow striped copy guitar, the exact replica of the actual guitar that he would be buried with 22 years later WTF) (at the time I had his strat, he had my V) So anyway, he grabs the guitar, turns on the amp, and sits down across from me. Hes just sitting there staring at me as the intro plays.. "Woe to you oh earth and sea". I'm listening to the intro, tripping on it, & looking at him & I'm thinking what the f u c k? Then the riff starts. You know the one. Riffer maddness back then. And he just starts playing along with it. Hes just sitting there staring at me, hitting the riff note for note. Him & Bruce Dickinson & the record player & the rest of Iron Maiden, knocking out that riff until Bruce lets loose "YEAAAAAAAAAAAA". Then he puts the guitar down, goes over to the record player, takes his album off & returns it to the sleeve, then he sits back down, picks up the guitar, stares me in the eye, & plays the riff one more time, perfect. Note for note. And then he speaks... "Its all down dude, ITS ALL DOWN." (He was referring to the picking style of the riff) Then he sets the guitar down, gets up, grabs his record and splits, never saying another word. So there I am. The only thing I had moved the whole time was my head, curiously watching him skit around the room. I haden't opened my mouth once. I'm thinking, what the f u c k? What a f u c k e r! I knew what the deal was, he was throwing down the gauntlet. Daring me to try. Believe it or not, it was his way of being a friend, prodding me along to be a better guitar player. It was one of his wacky ways with things. I didn't see him for 2 weeks. I stayed home and practised that riff until I could play it better & twice as fast as Maiden could, then I went over to his house & showed him how to do it. He tried not to smile much, and did his best to catch me f u c k i n g up. But he was proud, challenge taken and defeated. There you go boy.
"ITS ALL DOWN DUDE, ITS ALL DOWN!"
What a f u c k e r...
