A study of more than 36,000 people from around the world concluded that musical tastes and personality type were closely related.

The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh in the UK suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal fans were gentle and at ease with themselves.

Fans of Indie music had low self-esteem and were not hard working, fans of Rap music had high self-esteem and were outgoing. Country & Western fans were hardworking and outgoing, Reggae fans were creative but not hardworking, and fans of chart pop had high self-esteem, were not creative, but where hardworking and outgoing.

Dime personal guitars photos - samples
by rockconcertfotos.com on Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:42 pm
i recently spent 4 very long days photographing the entire collection of guitars owned by Dime. No concrete plans just yet of what will be done with them all or when, but i will slowly post a few random pics. Allovertonite lit the fire under my ass to get this done properly after Darrell and I have been talking about if for a few years before his passing.
These are just a few samples of what i saw and some of the ways I photographed them
enjoy !

"Revolution Is My Name". . .First Solo
by RAZOR777 on Tue Sep 07, 2010 4:16 am
Well, I would be quite surprised if anyone remembered me at this point! Very Happy I haven't done any videos in nearly a year and 1/2. But I guess I'm due.

I still have tons of love for Dime (he'll always be a huge influence on me), so I hope you like my take on this solo.

My 1983 Baby Dean ML.......(new info added!!)

I figured I would move it to the Dimebag area where it has more re valence and you all can enjoy it.....

Original Topic.... http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39121

I got the '83 Dean Baby ML in August '83 my parents bought it for me used. From my guitar teacher he he'd bought in new earlier that year from Moore Music in Evansville , IN (I found it in the Dean log book it was made 1/29/83 log entry 4293 for Moore Music Evansville IN..I lived in Owensboro, KY) I had it for many years and it got really beat up played a lot and hard even had a small ceiling fan incident small chip out of headstock corner tried to fix with wood putty so in '90 I tried to get it refinished. I had my X-wife's dad try to paint it (he customized cars) but it didn't take the paint well (bubbled up) so we tried gray auto primer first and then sprayed it again with Blue pearl auto lacquer paint it didn't take well again wrong kind of paint and not easy to get Nitro paint so he gave up, it looked pretty bad mostly gray primer. So it pretty much got put away,... half painted and half way disassembled, I had bought a 85' Jackson San Dimas Rhoads in 88' and that and my 84' Warlock became my main guitars both had Kahlers. Well I moved to Nashville to go to college at Belmont in fall of 90' , and I went to see Pantera With White Zombie at 328 Performance Hall on DEC. 5th 1992( second time that year first was at Club 1000 on Jan 25th 1992) at the time My roommate Was from Arlington, TX her Sister was Brittney Powell (the girl on the cover of Britney Fox cd with the Snake wrapped around her) her sister said she used to date Rex and my roommate said that she knew Vinny. Pantera was one of my favorite bands from the early days (I even played Heavy Metal Rules at High School in '87 with a former Band on the Dean!!)(photo below)
She got in touch with Brittney and She got us tickets and passes and after the show we hung out with the band. I had put the guitar back together and took it to show to get signed and Grady and Dime checked it out a Dime played it and liked it .......and awestruck as I was .......DIAMOND DARRELL playing MY guitar.... I gave it to him!!(I had red in a magazine that he was always looking for Deans to get). He gave me a bunch of stuff in return (posters , laminates, pick's, as well as signing all my OLD Pantera albums..... it was funny they were joking with Phil whether or not to sign over Terrance Lee on the "I Am The Night" and Projects albums (he didn't sign it at all )
Image
. I hung out with them a few more times after that also when they first started recording Far Beyond Driven at their Dad studio in Nashville I'll never forget the partys INSaNE !! Remember doing tequila shots with Phil at the Goldrush in Nashville. I asked Dime a few times Grady too but I couldn't ever find out what happened to that guitar. Grady said it was at the house with the others that people had given Dime. He originally said they were going to use it as a bus guitar cause of the size, but who knows.? I would LOVE to find out . That was MY baby and thats my story . ( I have photos somewhere of the guitar and video of me playing it in various bands). I'm really sorry this is so long !

I just found these in my photo album

]check the guitar pick it says DIAMOND DARRELL !!!Image

Here I am 17 years old playing Heavy Metal Rules on the Dean in 1987 at Apollo High School in Owensboro Ky Opening a High School show for the band Young American Showcase band FREE FARE. Wish I had a color photo ...it was a Beautiful Pearl Blue burst

Oh My Freaking God !!! There it is!!!!!!
Blue/grey primer Baby on the floor was mine my initials are carved in the truss rod cover (MG) from when I was 13 ...

Here it is in 1987 when I was 17 when it was still Blue Burst....notice the black neck pick up(that was out of a Kramer focus Rhoads copy) the bridge pick-up in the Dean was the neck pick-up (DiMarzio Super distortion) as was the Deans bridge also a Dimarzio SD that I put in the Kramer ....used more cause of Floyd trem)
was going to see about putting a Floyd on it (saw Dimes on the "I am the Night" back cover) and actually called Dean and talked to a tech and he told me Not to on my particular model. this was in 86' I think) so I left it alone it had a Schaller bridge and tuners.
looks like they took out the tone and moved the selector to where the tone was it originally had mini switch with 1 vol 1 tone.
We were doing Heavy Metal Rules off Projects in the Jungle

Image

Would really like to get in touch with someone about it I know it's still hard but if someone anyone Rita....Vinnie...Anyone .....can help me out....This guitar has huge sentimental value to me it was very my first guitar that I learned to play on ...given to me when I was 13 and I became a huge Diamond Darrell fan from the early days Projects and I am the Night used to listen to them on headphones when I was in High School turned lots of my friends on to them. First heard of them from inside the back cover of Heavy Metal Times with Randy Rhoads on the cover under new talent type thing when Metal Magic came went out (also a band called Avatar which later became Savatage was on there) and I bought the I am the Night album and later got Projects on cassette then Power Metal on cassette. I basically grew up on early Pantera. Now I'm going to be a Daddy have a little boy on the way in Oct. would love to pass it on to him when he gets older and teach him to play and about Dime . That Dean was my Baby for many years ....and I miss it...
.
If anyone can help me it would be awesome ....just not sure how to get a hold of anyone or what to do ...I honestly never thought I would even see it again it still blows my mind that it was in those pictures with some of his other guitars....... laying on the floor....
Please if anyone can help me...........It would be awesome.

THANK YOU ...VERY MUCH

Dime tribute song

http://www.sittinidol.com/Seeds2010.mp3

Bright flash, then it's gone
But your light lingers on
In the hearts of the sons
You created

You weren't with us too long
But your impression was strong
You live on through the song
When we crank it

It's a long, long line
It's a long, long line
It's a long, long line,
But you took the time
It's a smile for a friend in need,
as you planted another seed
Now the worship grows
for a man who knows
That he's flesh and blood like me,
But tonight he set us
Free

You were right all along,
Lived each day until dawn,
Life's the fuse to a bomb,
Then you're gone

I Didn't want it to end,
You made me feel like a friend,
I thought I'd see you again,
I was wrong

I was wrong
Now the line's too long
And the curtain's drawn
But there's a million seeds like me
And tonight you set us free

You glow

Like an angel,

You draw us close as we recognize your light

A Friend, a Mountain.
Your power reaches down and lights the fuse inside

IT LIGHTS THE FUSE INSIDE

Is Dimebag's name overused?
by GuitarNewbie on Thu Sep 16, 2010 1:40 am
So I'm sure lots non-Dean users think this and I do as well. You can't Google "Dean" without a Dimebag guitar popping up somewhere. I feel as though Dean is just using the name to sell lower-end guitars (and increase the price on higher-end ones). Your thoughts/opinions are greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I know that Dimebag essentially made the Razorback design, but the name is on almost every model Dean puts out.

Random poll placed out of simple curiosity.

GREAT show and an all around crazy night that saw us ending up at a gigantic hip hop type club that had a dentist chair for shots. Dime had a great time making ALL of us sit in the chair have whiskey dumped down out throats and then the chair would be rushed back to vertical. he laughed and laughed but wouldnt dare get in that muther fugger.

Shes all done, my heavily modified DFH Pronzorz!!!
by Jewel on Wed Sep 29, 2010 7:44 pm
Ok folks, shes all done minus the string damper. It hasnt come in the mail yet.

I rewired the whole entire guitar, new toggle, new input jack, cts 500k pots upgraded. The internals are all new and different.

Put a 2 tone black/black chrome real Gibson Schaller made floyd rose in her.

HUGE upgraded brass tremolo block with brass springs.

Put sponge inside the spring so she doesnt have all that unwanted spring noise.

Upgraded the nut to a schaller black chrome nut.

Put some blue razorblade inlays on her to match the body.

Upgraded the neck pickup from stock dean to a Super Distortion DImarzio pickup.

For the kiss sticker I took the actual picture of the Kiss sticker on dimes and photoshopped it like new and cropped it. So it is 100% accurate.

This baby has sustain for days, hope you enjoy.

I was just wondering why Dime had one on the one southern cross besides the obvious reason and if there was a story behind it?

Anyone have any idea?
