Questions about Tribute ML FBD's
by Kidd on Mon Jan 03, 2011 6:16 pm
Hi Folks;

I Just joined this great forum and I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on the differences I see on Tribute FBD's.

For instance, what I have noticed so far is:

1- Some have both the headstock image and body quad, while others just have the headstock image. I guess the quad could have fallen off or was removed but, where was the quad placed.... under or over the clear coat? I got mine new and it has no Quad.

2- Some have black electrical tape on the sides of the neck pickups and others do not. Could someone have taken the tape off, I guess so, but why would you change this?? I have the tape on mine

3- All Tribute FBD's I have seen were built in Korea, according to the headstock, but some have "E" as the leading digit in the SN and others have "US". What does the leading digit in the SN decode to? Mine has the "E".

Thanks for the help folks. I was just wondering about what I have noticed. I am not a Dean or Dime expert, so I figured I'd ask those that were.

My story... (the long "short" version)
by finnstrip on Wed Jan 05, 2011 9:01 pm
This is a long one, so bare with me. I have never had a likeminded Dimebag fan to open this up with. So, here's the "short" version:

- 1st of all. Let me say that I think I'm a big fan of Pantera/Damageplan/Rebel Meets Rebel and Dimebag by saying that I listen the albums 2-5 times a week. Used to be more. I don't know lyrics to all of the songs - meaning if you challenge me to a 'sing-off' you'd probably win - and I don't own any swag from before-mentioned bands. I just listen to the music and now I'm trying my hardest to learn to how to play it.

I only have CD's, MP3's, my Razorback (got it New Years Eve 2010) and maybe a poster.

So, someone might say that I'm not a big fan! I don't have all the original albums Dime left his mark on- or anything special the bands have released. So, frippin (pardon my french) what!? I love the bands, I love a good song, I love a good solo & shredding, I truly TRULY love metal and I frippin love Dime's input on all the songs he was involved with. Dime-metal touches my very mind & soul

Sry, I needed to explain that. Now on with the story:

It was 1998. Mid-Summer time was close and I was waiting for the metal festival (Nummirock) to begin that week. I even had a ticket. Knowing that I should be going and most of all have a weekend off from our country's mandatory military service.

"Army-karma" decided to pull off all the weekend/mid-summer time leave's and have a competition among us to decide who gets to go and who must stay at the barracks over the weekend.

Needless to say that I didn't get to go since my marksmanship skills weren't that good at the time (on the target boards of course).. so, I sold my ticket to guy who was lucky and had that weekend off. I knew he liked Pantera and was a fellow metal-head. I made him promise to me that he'd get the set list or at least tell me about the gig.

Well, he didn't see the gig. He was at the same metal festival but I remember him saying that he was either passed out or getting more beer from his car etc so he didn't see Pantera & Dime AT ALL... oh, I was VERY VERY pissed at that moment.. well, it wasn't his fault but it still bothered me.

Lemme also say that At The Time I didn't have possibilities to travel and see Pantera play live abroad...

...everything changed in 2004..
I was in shock.
Every song and every video I ever saw of Dime's performances flashed through my mind'n eyes.
I had no one to talk about this - I shed few tears and started listening Pantera.

First song on random was Floods from The Great Southern Trendkill. Maybe that's the reason I ALWAYS crank the volume high as I can when Dime's solo comes.

That solo is SO damn beautiful!

It gets me sad, it gives me strenght, it donates something - willpower maybe - to my poor soul.

In a year 2005 me and my buddy went to visit Paris, France and there in the summer heat we went to Hard Rock Cafe. Drank a few beers and toured the place.

Stairway to the second floor. I stopped. And saw this:

Image (I just googled the picture so it's not shot by me)

I started to shake and a single tear ran down my cheek. Bumped my chest with my chest and lifted my hand with a devil-horn greeting to salute Dime's memory.

For like 20-30 mins I was pretty quiet and my buddy asked what was wrong with me. I tried to explain but he didn't understand.

I don't know if this by any way explains how much Dimebag and his shredding ment to me. I still religiously listen Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel.. I also listen some Down and a lot of HellYeah. Almost every Sunday I have my Dime-Sunday when I listen some Dime-powered metal; always 10 same songs and then I let iTunes roll on shuffle.

I know I'm forgetting to say something but this is my way to show to you that we are in a same boat - no matter how big or small of a fan you are. We are all in a same level. I'm just bummed out that I never saw Dime shredding live but I have the next best thing and that's just has to do before he performs to us in the afterlife.
....
Rest in Peace DDD - you have given us The shred The solos The soul of metal - thank you

Hey guys... Im still reading through all the cool back-posts ( new guy)

Where are all the pictures shot of dimes guitars and the studio stuff?
Is that in a home? Or a warehouse ?
Im sure I'll read it somewhere...just wondered. They're amazing.
You never get to see a lot of that stuff from a great artist.
Usually just one or two that get picked for guitar world or something.

was the DimeTime pup out when he was still alive? or was he still using the SD-59's?
Going to Arlington
by ebob on Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:57 pm
Hello,

I'm planning a trip to Arlington with a couple of friends and I need suggestions of Dime/Pantera-related stuff to see. We're not leaving for several months but I'm so psyched about this I'm starting a thread now. All of us will be travelling from Sweden so we want to make sure we don't miss anything while we're there, going back would be too expensive Wink Therefore I'm leave it up to the fine people of Dean guitars forum to make sure we get our sightseeing done properly!

Feel free to suggest stuff that isn't Dime-related as well! Anything Texas! Smile

Cheers!

by MIkeST on Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:04 am
Im posting in the dime area, becasue I know you guys search for dimes tone.

How many of you use a noise gate?
Pros and cons?

I just got my emma pedal and I love it, but my cheap zoom G2 has a noice gate, and it sounds "crisper" if that makes sense

Fret question about all of the Dime ML model guitars?
by rgx612a on Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:23 pm
Do all of the dime sig guitars come with regular size frets... like the same size that most gibson lp's have? My Dimeslime came with these smaller size frets, and i'm just wondering if any come with jumbo frets like most the ESP and LTD guitars i've played??

My (mini guitar) Dean From Hell Replica
by Puppet on Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:46 pm
I saw a lot of Dime "mini guitars" on different websites, but they all looked so cheap and completely not realistic, and since I already build a couple 5in mini guitars I decided to build a "bigger" mini guitar by myself.

It will probably be for sale soon Smile

This is a 28cm/11inches custom Mini Guitar - "Dean From Hell"
it took me 80 hours to build and paint it.
Every part is handmade and there are real strings.

Based on pictures and videos I was able to find.

Dime DFH sticker (not Kiss)
by jkkkjkhk on Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:00 am
I saw a picture of a CFH with a sticker that had 4 heads of Dime instead of Kiss. I know some of you have seen it before, does anyone know where to get it? I'm not talking about the quad sticker that comes with the FBD in case anyone thinks that.
Thanks
Pot question, no not weed...
by Steel City Psycho on Wed Jan 26, 2011 10:37 am
I'm not really searching for the ever elusive ultimate Dime tone or anything, I'm just curious, but I noticed that my USA DFH and all 3 of my Razorbacks came with a 250K Tone Pot.

I'm just curious as to know if Dime actually used 250K Tone pots on his guitars or is this just what Dean decided to use for tone pots on their guitars.

Any Washburn Dime3 owner's out there ever look at your tone pot, is it 250K as well?
