John musical beginnings started at the age of 9, when he received his first guitar. Teaching himself how to play, he started his musical career playing at the age of 15 at the local Elk’s club. In 1980, after an endless search for a bass guitarist, John decided to put down the guitar and pick up the bass. It has been no looking back since. After traveling the US and Mexico, John found himself back in upstate NY. After playing in many local touring bands, John joined forces with David Smith of Blacksmith and Bad Karma. Their partnership has taken the northeast by storm. In 2001, Bad Karma’s debut CD, American Standard features John’s bass work and shows how he keeps the bottom end aggressive yet soulful. John’s bass of choice is The Demonator; it gives him exactly what he is looking for in a bass... a mean growl and savage thunder. A 5 string Hardtail (DOA , and a prototype Dean Sarzo bass are included in his arsenal.
