I won the DFD from Dave, it was a contest that was online, so I entered it, and I won. Dave helped me learn Symphony of Destruction. He also helped me hold the guitar, picking, and others. We then played Walk, and Cemetery Gates.
Here is the DFD (DEAN from Dave). Sorry about the pic size.....
When I frist got it:

Amazing! I hope you had a great time and enjoy the axe! Are you going to get the signature clear coated or are you just going to hang the guitar up in a frame?

That is a wonderful thing. I remember being your age and meeting Zakk... It was unreal. Do yourself a favor and find a good paint shop that can clear that for you. You don't want to use the wrong stuff that may melt the marker away. It is worth the little extra bit. |

That's awesome. I love Dave's playing, Megadeth was one of the big influences in me wanting to play guitar. Back when MTV did that "meet your hero" tv show, whatever it was called, I always dreamed of winning that and meeting Dave.
So what's the story on meeting him? Did I miss an earlier thread about this?
edit: wtf. It tells what happened right at the top of your post. Was that there last night and I skipped right over it? |

I love that story. A free guitar and getting pointers from a guitar hero. There's not much cooler than that I'll tell you. |

FYI man, I paint cars for a living and I wouldn't advise clearing that. If you're not 100% sure what kind of paint that the autograph is the clear can react and make it run. Hang it on a wall and get ya another one. Trust me, when you're 30 and have a mint sig guitar signed by your idol you'll thank me. |

Hang it on a wall and get ya another one. Trust me, when you're 30 and have a mint sig guitar signed by your idol you'll thank me. |
+1 Do not dust or wipe or use any cleaning stuff around the signature. Even permanent markers can rub off over time on poly finishes.
As previsoulsy mentiond, put the guitar in the closet and take it out on special occasions. Get yourself another Dean. My Michael Schenker Signature is pretty much a museum piece and lives in the case with very little playing time |

I am gonna clear coat it, this guitar was meant to be played!

Yea?
My name is wiping off........
And this is the olny DEAN I have......

E-Mail Dave.
No really, you gotta get the coated over, and properly man. |

Just, no words can give justice to how I feel with my Dean Dime. It's what I needed and craved for; tone, sustain and dive bombs. My expectations are all in, what a slice of heaven indeed for a metalhead. |

Have you got that Signature protected yet? If not try clear fingernail polish. Just brush it over it. That should work fine. I use it on all my guitars when I get a nick in it and touchit up with paint then clear fingernail polish.

Congrats dude!! i Met Dave a few times thru his career. He was much nicer towards the end. The first time was not so pleasant i think the were playing a small venue here in Tampa "the Armoury" i believe....anyhoo Nasty Savage was playing and Dave was fired up because they went over time or the PA was too loud? i can't be sure but Nasty Ronnie was involved and gave Mustain some s#%t. he is a fantastic guitar player. What a career the guy has had...very accomplished. Congrats again man! |

Haha,
Thanks to all the commenters!
Dave was a really cool guy, and helped me get better, I still suck, but you get the idea. I could have never asked for something more, as that was a once in a lifetime chance. The funny thing is that I got grounded the day I got the call saying I won. I got off groundment pretty quick, then to be funny, my dad made it seem like I wasnt going. When I found out I was going, boy, was I excited!
I appreciate all the comments,
Justin |
