in a couple months, I'm getting a 79 dean v.
Heh, aside from all my cosmetic questions on the V that have now been satisfied, my new concern in sound.
I'm no tonefreak. (I have a Epi LP Junior, and I spend a nice chunk fo my time jamming on it)
I just wondered what kind of sound the 79 v pushes. I hoped that it has a nice, fuller Les Paul sound? I really have no idea though, and I plan to buy it regardless, but any feedback would be cool. |

I think the ML has a slightly fuller tone due to there being more body mass than the V. At least that's one of the crazy theories I hear.
Seriously, they're famous for being killer rock guitars. I'm sure you'll choose one you like.
PS : Get the ML! Whoooo! |

Ponch:
Rochemy: Umm, they give a really ful and fat tone, better than the LP IMO, but as ponch said, ML has better tone. But the thing with the '79 series is that the Pups are kinda weak, and dont get the full tone advantage, so if you Decide on buying a V, id reccomend buying a new Bridge pup... Hmmm, but even with the normal pup it beats a Epi LP in tone so i dunno... |

Really nice guitars. A little light in weight - but that's just me. I have stock pick-ups and am happy with them. My avatar is me with a White '79 V. It is all stock components.
-- edit --
Oh yeah, and the price cannot be beat for this quality! |

If the 79 has the same pups as the DOA Caddy, it'll blow the Epi away. Our rythm player has an Epi LP and my Caddy has twice the output and tone. |

My '79 series ML seems very light compaired to my old ML Select. If they run light as a rule I'd like to get a '79 Z. I'm happy with my blue flame V Select |

That is great about the 79's. I had no idea the tone would be better than an Epi Les Paul. ...This is sad, but a months ago in Toledo, I got to play an Epi Les Paul Custom, and i thought it was the greatest thing in the world.
So pretty much nothing will stop me from getting that '79 V now.
You guys are awesome. |

The bridge pickup sucks. Get a Dimebucker or an X2N. The bridge pickup is great cause its not too hot but has a warm tone for the bluesy sound you would be looking for anyways from that pu position. |
