Hypocrisy - Virus

Frippin' brutal, their drummer is a monster. I normally don't dig these type of vocals but this is surprisingly listenable. The bass is shaking the house right now, my ears are starting to itch from the vibration Laughing I have it up pretty loud Laughing

I highly recommend "XVI"

So, what are you listening to?

The Mike Keneally Band / "bakin' @ the potato"

For this evening's walk, the musical selection will be "The Yes Album". It's forty years old and the solo in Part III/"Wurm" of "Starship Trooper" still kicks my ass.

What do you make of it?

Personally, I'm a little dissappointed. I grew up with Under The Boardwalk, Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not and Favourite Worst Nightmare. Alex's observational lyrical style and the simple guitar work made it absolutely magical for me, but ever since part of FWN and onwards they've really changed.

I know that's natural, but the band now seems completely conflicted. Alex said he'll never again write in the style of their first two albums and the result is a complete mess, with the album never sure exactly where it seems to be heading.

I wish it weren't so, but the Monkeys' best days are behind them, I think. Sad

Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy

Just picked this up about a week ago, and it's all I've listened to. I heard mixed reviews about this album, but I think it's great.

You can't go wrong with pre-VH-era Hagar material.

The first Montrose disc is an all-time classic.

Is this version with or without Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake?

Blizzard of Ozz was re-released in 2002 with the original bass and drum tracks, recorded by Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake. Then Sharon Osbourne removed and replaced the tracks with new ones by new recordings by Robert Trujillo (Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Metallica and Ex-Ozzy) and Mike Bordin (Ex- Faith No More).

2010 is was re-released

so...nothing like having 4 releases of the same damn album..

i'll take the original anyday of the week. I did hear they were supposed to release a box set though with Blizzard and Diary in 2011 though

They released the box set last week, as well as the albums as individual releases. The box set is only available via Ozzy's website.

For something a little left of center, look for a disc by a band called "Living Loud". It is Lee Kerslake, Bob Daisley, Steve Morse and Jimmy Barnes doing remakes of the tunes from Blizzard and Diary. You know, since Bob wrote them.......

I've been listening to Witchcraft, a european band that plays doom metal much like Sabbath. Very catchy tunes.
