Good for you man
That's a great feeling when you're not "searching" for anything, you just plug in and play and you're happy, you're not like "If I could only get it to do this" or "If I could just get a little more of this or that."
I have been kind of bored with mine lately. I spent a lot of time chasing down guitars I want and the pick ups I want in them, so I figured it was time to start getting my amp in sync with my guitars. Thought about getting a new head, really been wanting to try a 6534+ or Sig:X, but decided to go the easy/cheap route first and get some of my modules for my MTS rig modded.
patiently waits for pics |

It IS a nice place to be! I have been there for over a year and 1/2 now...SO refreshing NOT to be chasing and imaginary tone, or wishing you had something else.
I used to read every review on every new amp, salivating over every sound bite...no more, I have NO want for a different amp. If mine blew up tonight, I would order a 2nd just like it (maybe with Snakeskin).
If you haven't yet, do something nice for your rig! A new power conditioner, or a custom rack or something...it's EARNED it! |

I reachd that stage a couple times...and after about 6 months something "itches" and I find myself saying " you know maybe it could use a little more "X"... and then we're off again. |

I love my tone, haven't changed anything on my rig for months, heck probably close to a year. Not even the EQ |

I love my tone but I don't think I'll ever be happy with my rig. In the last 9 months (that I can remember) I've wanted the following:
1. another Framus Cobra.
2. another Framus Dragon.
3. one of the 100w Randall MTS things
4. another Crate BV300
5. Sovtek MIG 50
6. another late 70s JMP
7. Red Bear MK60. I think I may actually get this, however.
Never mind that I've already got 3 big amps that I never play through. Gotta get that ONE, you know, despite the fact that I paid good money to get my Metaltronix modded to all hell and it sounds great, imho, at the moment. |

It's a pretty simple rig. I'll snap some photos on Monday night at rehearsal.
I run from guitar
Soltero->Tuner->Modded Crybaby->Rotovibe->Phase 90->Rogue Analog Delay-> A/B Switch
A-> Carvin Bel Air
B-> Jet City JCA22H w/ 2x12
The Bel Air has a mismatched hodge podge of tubes that were in it when I got it, and I see no reason to change anything. It has a Jensen Blue something or other, and an Eminence something in it. I use it for my crisp sparkly punchy cleans.
The Jet City was retubed with JJ's, and the bias was tuned up a little bit to get a little more 'tone' out of it. It is a 2 channel head, and the Crunch Channel is where it earns it's money. I have the Overdive channel set up as my "lead". It is based on the Soldano SLO circuit.
So instead of using a ZW Overdrive for a boost like I used to, I eliminated one pedal and got a little real estate back on my board. |

I've been in love with my tone ever since I discovered P-90's, BKP Warpigs, and the Mesa Mark V!!! |

Ooooo! Another Carvin amp in the "perfect rig"
Mine may SEEM more complex, but it really is pretty simple.
The V3 has 2 effects loops.
Effect loop 1 goes to a Chorus, a delay and channel 1 on a 2 channel EQ.
FX loop 2 goes to a Rocktron Hush Super C, and channel 2 on the EQ.
Channel 1 on EQ is set to emphasize the clean channel...a little scooped, a nice warm tone
Channel 2 on the EQ is BARELY used. JUST a touch of sub harmonic boost, and a little mid boost. NOTHING set over 3dB. Also the highest of highs are cut by 12dB
Chain going to the amp:
Guitar>Tuner>ISP decimator>Overdrive>Carvin V3
Channel 1 is set on the "Intense" mode. Think 5150ish HIGH gain
Channel 2 is on the Classic mode. Think JCM 800 (mid high gain)
Channel 3 is on the classic clean...an awesome clean channel!
I have a MIDI Moose set up for channel switching. My main 5 options (I have 125, but I really only use 5)
1) Channel 1 with volume boost, loop 1 and loop 2 (leads with effects)
2) Channel 1 loop 1 and loop 2 (rhythm with effects)
3) Channel 1 loop 2. No effects, for very tight heavy rhythm
4) Channel 2 loop 2. Mid gain for more complex chords, also the ONLY time I use my overdrive pedal. This IS the "Kill 'em all' tone!
5) Channel 3 loop 1. Very clean, NO gate, full effects.
This goes to a Peavey 4x12 cab, with Eminence Wizards, and Swamp Thangs in an X pattern.
Again, it sounds complex, but in reality, it's very simple. Want to go from clean to lead? 1 button to step on. Clean to high gain chunky rhythm.1 button. Lead with FX to lower gain rhythm,1 button etc etc. The only time you need to hit 2 buttons is if using the overdrive. Hell, I don't even SEE my FX pedals! They hide up in the rack (easier set-up/take down...NO unneeded cable length in FX loops. |

AMEN, i have had the same EQ and tone dialed in for close to 2 years now and havent touched it , sounds good with all my Bass's. the guitar rigs I own , I let our 6 stringers dial thier own tone into. I can always change them when I want to |

one thing I have to say - I have always liked a clean, straight forward, no nonsense rig. I've always felt a good amp shouldn;t really need a pedal for distortion, and I've never really digged effects, and I can;t use a WAH pedal to save my life [I know that soudns lame, but believe me, everytime I try it just never comes out good - I've been told its because my phrasing is so odd. who knows. anyway...]. So my rigs have almost always consisted of Guitar -->cable/wiresless unit --> amp -->cabinet. What I always find myself wanting to mess with are things like pickups, amp heads, cabinets, speakers, and in general my EQ. |

Mine is my guitar into a boss OD then into my Jet City JCA20C. I have the OD set up as a boost. I had some other stuff in there but never used it so now run it as simple as I can. |
