I just got this photo a few days ago from the builder. The neck shaping should be done at the end of the week and then final sanding and finishing. I should have the guitar FINALLY by the end of the month or beginning of October. It will have a natural, gun oil finish.

6 strings yes, Kahler yes, but fixed bridge. It's a Kahler custom shop 3300.

9 months so far. It was a very hard wait but well worth it. They did every thing I wanted to the littlest detail. Even the neck carve is custom for me. I got them to make glow in the dark side fret markers too and they glow white not green like normal glow stuff. They have some kind of special glow powder and a mold to do it. |

Hahah I better I'm endorsed by them now. lol The thing that kills guitars for me is the neck though. They built this neck around my specific dimension requests and spec though so I'm otherwise fine. They put on every bell and whistle I asked for too. If I don't like this then I don't like anything lol. I still have my Gibson though so it's proof that I do keep stuff |

They have been busted into submission sir. I'm sure the "Dibs" posts will start shortly. I just have to remember I don't have to explain myself lol... I just have to explain NOT explaining myself. The only thing I'm not sure on with the guitar are the pickups. I have a Duncan AHB-2 set being put in with the high/low mode toggle switch installed. I am getting these sight unseen but many people seem to love them. If they don't fit me I will sell them but otherwise everything else is something I know I want. |

Maybe by endorsing their gear, they endorse your contract. Still a two way street |

i think you endorse them. you, the artist, endorse or recommend, their guitars to others. you get free guitars in exchange for endorsing their instruments.
kronos, on the other hand....well..let's just leave that alone. |

Who cares? Your getting a bitchin' guitar made to your exact specs for free. I think endorsement deals are only financially huge if your in the league of pro sports. Tiger Woods, Dale Earnhardt Jr etc...
I endorse Danica Patrick ... not for her driving skills (which are pretty damn good if you think about it) but for that latest Nationwide commercial (the one when Dale Jr has her cell number on the last pit board)
Think about how many dummies must have called that number already
I am sure she had some sort of makeup on but man, when she's not looking pissed in a firesuit, she is a very attractive woman
I firmally endorse cool attractive women who don't need a lot of makeup to look appealing
I do this freely so sorry, a wig, penis tuck and waxing is not going to get you s#%t Lanning
Again, congrats and I can't wait to see the finished product
Ok... I call dibs also
and Dave, you make valid points. What really is an endorsement? A mutual to gain relationship. Sometimes you get millions of dollars and all the free stuff you want. Sometimes you get free stuff, sometimes you get discounted stuff. Sometimes you just get your name on a backpage of an obscure perodical. It's win all around in the end |

true, it's win/win. i do think it's sad that people play what they are paid to play sometimes. (not you, lanning). i know for a fact that one of the biggest names in music is a diehard strat man, but the other guys pay him tons to play their brand. |

Here is a new update...
The body and cavities still need finish sanding but here is the layout. The bridge is a Kahler custom shop 3300 fixed bridge, pickups are Duncan Blackout AHB-2. The control layout is 3 way toggle, 1 tone, 2 volume and a 2 way mini toggle to switch the Blackouts from regular operation to boosted higher gain mode 2. More pics coming this week as I get them. |

Yeh man their builds are beyond amazing. The owner has his hands on every guitar that leaves that place. He is the only one that put his hands on my guitar from the start though. He just messaged me that this one is especially "insane" . I don't want to think too hard about it just yet though lol.. He said I'd have it by the end of the first week of October so less than 2 weeks! The finish goes on pretty quick from what I have seen. It gets 6 coats of gun stock oil. |

Another update photo...
Still a few weeks out here. Duncan sent the wrong switch for the wiring layout I asked for so they have to remedy that and the last bit of finishing on the body has to be completed. It's otherwise done. |

i was serious. my ups guy here is cool but fedex are serious asssholes.
Fedex . I have had them steal a package. I was home mowing the grass but website said package delivered but no package.
I have had them leave packages in my drive way. not on the steps but in the driveway by the street. I have had boxes opened. I have had boxes mangled. I have had packages delivered days after the deadline. they are the worst. |

Luckily mine gets delivered to a business address at an industrial park so it goes out early with a driver that handles that. It'll have tracking and worse comes to worse? Esoterik will fix or replace it if it gets lunched. I said "D1ck" as a joke because that's an obvious looming issue that I'm well aware of and doesn't need to be pointed out You just didn't need to add bad juju to it by saying it |

It's got 2 truss rods so you can get super detailed in the relief/tension of the neck. The demo I played before ordering this one was amazing. Like playing hot butter, in a good way, if that makes sense |

The video will be to follow as we are making one for my Esoterik artist page, but for a review. I have been playing it all morning. It's perfect, meaning it's exactly what I ordered and feels just as I had hoped. They did what I asked and matched my neck request/specs to exactly what I wanted.
The neck on my Gibson ZV is exactly perfect for me and the best neck I have ever played. I requested they accurately re-create that for me as close as they could so that the transition would be seamless for me from my Gibson to this guitar. So as far as neck feel? It's nothing new as it's just what I asked for and my hands feel at home. The frets are medium/jumbo and perfectly dressed and the neck has ebony binding which is almost unheard of on just about any guitar and the side dots glow in the dark. The tuners are Sperzel and what I wanted. I got them from Steve Sperzel at NAMM last year and then handed them to Ryan from Esoterik so I knew what I was getting there lol
The body is a carve top and concave back so it's shaped to suck right to your mid section. Instead of sitting in front of you on your lap it actually feels as if it's molded to you and being that the back is concave it's closer and more comfortable. You're not reaching over it you're on top of it. It's as if the strings and bridge are part of your stomach if you can imagine that.
The bridge is a Kahler custom shop 3300 fixed bridge. I could have gotten the Hybrid 7300 which is essentially the same bridge but I wanted one that was hand machined by union workers in the custom shop. It was a little more money but in my mind I'm supporting the American working man and feel personally happy about that. Wether or not it's better made or not doesn't matter to me. Otherwise I chose this bridge because each saddle is 6 way adjustable for ultimate control over my action and being that it's a big chunk of metal and it's routed into the body the sustain is greatly increased.
The pickups are Seymour Duncan AHB-2 (Metal). The bridge pickup also has the inclusion of the mini toggle which switches between normal and boosted mode. The boost adds a little more headroom and volume. It's got 2 volume and one tone. The volume closest to the strings is for the neck volume. You may think this is odd but coming from a Gibson, if you look at how the volumes are set up it's similar to a Les Paul. If I decide to swap them later on it's a quick change.
Body wood is Mahogany. I don't know what strain but it's super high quality and knowing the quality of Esoterik's instruments it's only of the highest quality. The grain is amazing looking and really pops in person. The neck through is a 5 piece walnut construction with flamed maple stringers. The scale length is 25.5"
If you're wondering what the engraving is on the control cavity cover is. It's an alien embryo... It was designed buy an artist who has also done art work for Disturbed and some other artists. It's lazer etched into the wood.
I'm not going to say it's the best guitar in the world and everyone should buy one and blah blah blah. I will say it's EXACTLY what I envisioned and EXACTLY what I expected to show up after a 9 month wait. I'm super picky and I can find fault in just about anything. I am really hard on guitar manufacturers. This guitar is perfect in every way and feels like a natural extension of my body. That makes it the perfect guitar for me.
On to some photos.

I don't know who else does that but I think there may be another maker out there who does. I can fine tune both sides of my neck to suit any gauge string this way and it's more stable than just about anything else out there. |

Very handy! always liked the wooden-neck-thru-super-strat look but this one takes it to a new level! Thumbs well up! EDIT: with the cvarve is like these Brian Moore guitars or is more moulded? |

These are contoured heavier than a Moore all the way. . I know what you're talking about though on the Moores and it's not the same. The whole guitar is carved on the rear. |

Tobias Basses were the first ones I knew who used two truss rods. I know of one custom bass that Dean did for the bass player of a major country artist. I think it was Toby Keith's but it's been a while so I can't remember.
But as far as guitars with two truss rods, I've only seen custom makers do that. I can't remember any major manufactuers doing that. |

So, is it perfectly moulded or does it have a little extra room for when you get old, bald and fat? Or wait, just old and fat...
That's a damn snazzy guitar, Lanning! |

Yeah man! This year I'll be demoing at their booth so we can hang again!
Here is a pic of the side dots in the dark... They glow pretty good on their own but under a black light on stage they will be super bright!
