Well I finally got some gear traded around and got my bogner. Its a rev 2 with e34l jj power tubes and a mix of 12ax7's (mostly chinese) and man is this thing tight and mean. I played this thing for 2 hours yesterday and I am in love. Gonna start recording with my band next week and I'm so excited to hear this thing in a mix. It is truely a high gain monster. I really wanted the metal grill but I just found out that you could buy them direct from Bogner so that will be coming soon. Heres a pic!

So, I put the amp in my case this sat and hooked up all my gear to test everything for my show. I get it cranked up to stage volume and play for about 2 min. Then, lights out on the Bogner. I was freaking out. Pulled the back cover off and one of the power tubes had gotten a small crack in it I guess from shipping. Tube failed and blew a fuse. So I ran down to the store and luckily they had a quad of JJ E34L's. These really tightened this thing up compared to the EL34. Live this thing was so clear.
Got the metal grill ordered today. Now I guess I can swap them out depending on what mood i'm in. |

congrats, the uberschall is one of my favorite amps, i own a rev blue and used it live for a few years, i also agree the that E34L sound great in it and i like C9 in the pre, its a little hard to balance the clean and gain channels in a live situation. i found that i like it boosted with a maxon od9 to tighten the lows for really fast stuff and some extra sustain and harmonics, for my boost i turn off the gain on the pedal and crank the lever so that it doesnt add extra distortion but just adds a little something extra.
enjoy your amp.
what cab are you using?? i use a uberkab with mine and it matches up nicely, or any v30 cab. |

Right now I'm using Marshall Vintage 30 cabs but I am in the process of getting rid of them to get Bogner cabs. It will be nice to have everything match for once lol. Did some recording last week with it. Its amazing how easy it is to dial in a good tone. I used to find myself moving the mic back and forth over all the speakers for an hour everytime I recorded. The clean channel is a little stail but it's not as bad as people have made it out to be. Right now I'm using a boss super od to tighten it up but I did play a Maxon through it and will be making that purchase soon too. I think it complimented the amp the most. |

Ok, so two things.
1. You're coming to DOA (or whatever we're calling it this year).
2. You're bringing the Uber with you! |

Owned 2 of them, best Amp IMHO, only lacking 2 things...
Volume on clean channel is not loud enough for live settings
No solo boost |

That was one of the things that almost scared me away from this amp was the lack of clean volume. This one has the mod to where the cleans can go louder without the gain overdriving the channel so that was one problem out of the way for me. I've just been using an mxr boost pedal for solos. The ecstacy has all of those features, but I just felt that it lacked the drive of the uber.
And I would love to come to doa. Probably not gonna happen this year, but sometime in the future I will make it there!! |

Yeah, if they have it again. After talking with Elliott the other night, I have my doubts on DOA. |

So I couldn't resist, I found a great deal on a different revision Uberschall and I pulled the trigger. I figured if anything, I'd keep the metal faceplate and sell the one that I liked the least. Then, I made the mistake of playing them together. I did the Cantrell thing, one is more dry and ballsy and the other set thick and creamy. You can't even imagine how freaking crazy it sounds lol. Needless to say, I now have a lot of overtime to work to pay off this damn thing.

I played a 2X12 Bogner combo once..., I think it was an Alchamist.
It was really awesome..., very very good tones!
Enjoy that beast!!! |

I saw that add on cl and I was tempted to try to buy that cab. But I'm still licking my wounds from getting these things so the cabs are gonna have to wait til after christmas. These amps are really killer. If you've tried everything out there and still can't find a good gain that you like, I would highly recommend you try one. People discredit the rev blue, but the one I just got is bad ass. I prefer it to the rev 2 fwiw. |

I've googled this a bit but can't find anything. How do you tell the revisions apart? I've got a friend with an uber but we don't know what revision. |

Rev 1 plastic handle-red pilot light
REv 2 (green)- green pilot light, green pcb, Leather handle-no external bias points
Rev 2- green pilot light-blue pcb, leather handle-no external bias points
Rev Blue-External Bias points, smaller blue led light in front, fx loop line level knob.
Twin Jet- presence and depth controls, white faceplate
Both of mine say what revision it is on the back of the amp under the bogner logo. But those are a few of the differences that you can look at right away to distinguish between revisions. |

The rev 2 is a mean dude. One on one though, I think I prefer the blue though. Its leads are a lot smoother, and the bass doesn't get out of control as easy. It does lack a little of the balls that the rev 2 has, but its more than enough anyway imo. The rev 2 is a very dark sounding amp whereas the blue has more of that hot rod marshall tone. Playing though both as the same time really brings out the strengths of both amps.
My newest obsession is finding an od to better accomodate these amps better than the mxr classic od or the boss sd1. They are overtightening the amps and completely killing their bass response. Next thing I'm gonna try is a maxon od808. And I'm open to any suggestions you all may have on this subject. . . |

Not trying to change the Subject, & NICE Amp by the way, but I LOVE how you put the TransAM LOGO on the Fiddle!
Still wish I had my 67' Camaro, it was MINT , sold it for right under 10K in 1997 and Now finding out these things are Fetching $20,000 to $30,000 for the MINT one I had, BAHAMA BLUE , with 2 White Stripes on the Hood & Trunk!
Sorry, Don't men to steal your Thread , just know you own a T.A. & I had a Flashback looking at that AWESOME Guitar!
But back to the Amps , You can Never go wrong with one of those, and looks like you got 2! Well Enjoy The New Amp Buddy , cuz me likes! |
