I found one of these older metal grill Boogie cabs for a good price...plus it's the bottom cab (with straight sides and slanted baffle) so I just couldn't resist. Wasn't sure what speakers were in it but wasn't too worried about it...it ends up having G12-65s up top and the Mesa MS-12s down below. Needs a little cleaning but not too terrible. Haven't had a chance to play much through it yet...we'll see how it holds up against my beloved Recto 2x12!

Great grab on the cab!! Had one awhile back and loved it. Great cab to tailor your own sound with and man does it reach out a ways. |

Which Black Shadows are you talking about? I've got a MC-90, these MS-12s, and the Black Shadow branded EVM12L...not sure about these yet...I love the Mesa V30s in my Recto cab and the C90 a lot...I don't like the EVM as much as those to be honest. Just too clear and sterile for me. I hope I like these! Still not sure if I'll end up selling it down the line because my Fryette is a couple inches wider and it bugs me a little I do have Mesa heads to try with it too though...the possibilities! |

It's gotta be the EVM12L...the MS-12s were made by Eminence and the MC-90 is made by Celestion. |

One of my Mitchell Cabinets has 4 of those in it. My Mark 2s sound awesome with those speakers. But then they sound good with any Celestions.

It really does. I definitely need to clean that up next time I have that panel off. I didn't even notice it when I had it apart there until I look at the pics. |

So I just got a chance to plug it in today...I think I'm putting it back up for sale. It sounds a little more nasally than my Recto 2x12 and is much harder to transport. Doesn't sound bad...I think I just like my Recto cab better. I was really hoping it would blow me away. Back to the drawing board... |

I heard people speak of these cabs as some of the best out there. Its a shame you didn't like it. Heck, I'd even x-pattern the speakers and see if you like it more that way. It'd be worth a shot before having to hassle with selling it again. |

Eh...I might. I kind of already know what I like though...instead of fooling around with this I could just get a Recto 4x12. We'll see. |

Surely he must've hooked that up...
Wish I lived closer. I would grab that cab in a second. |

Good call! I noticed right before I put the back panel back on...I would've felt silly if I missed that. I think it came off after being stressed by taking off the lower back panel. Still just not sure...I'll give it some time here. I can probably get a little more out of it than I bought it for, but I really want to like it I guess it's a pretty good situation to be in... |

I'll mess around with it a bit more I think. I WANT to like it, it just didn't blow me away at first. Maybe my ears are just more used to V30s here. I've been using the same cab with V30s forever pretty much. The 65s are totally different and the MS-12s kind of remind me of a darker EVM12L. We'll see what happens... |

I disagree. When I was in Vegas, I tried out a JCM2000 through a Marshall, Mesa, and a H&K cab. You want to know which one I thought sounded the best? The H&K. |

Little update here: I played it side by side with my Recto 2x12. I still like the Recto better I think; however, with both of them hooked up at once the mix sounds really good. This new cab has less high end and less low end but is smoother and more pronounced mids while the Recto cab is a little more scooped if you're not staring straight at the speakers. Together they sound really full and awesome. This complicates my decision... |
