I finally own a Telecaster!! 
I walked past a guitar shop last week and seen this Telecaster sitting in a shop window, I walked in and asked the guy if I could see it and play it. He said that it was just out of its box and had only been sitting at the window for 20 minutes. So he guided me over to this Silver Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III amp and plugged me in. I must have been playing for about 20 minutes and knew this guitar was coming home with me
We organised a part exchange deal, where I exchanged my zzz (started to dislike the V neck) and some cash for it. Its a new 2012 MIM Standard. He told me the model was upgraded last year and pointed out that the fretboard has a glossy finish and the neck has a satin finish. Its the best Tele I have ever played and i thoroughly inspected it before i left the shop and there isn't a mark on it, a really high quality MIM!!

Amazing! I love Teles... There could be 20 guitars in the room of varying cost and quality and if there is a Tele I'll almost always grab that to play first. Try some Fender Mod Shop SCN pickups in that thing and it'll scream!

I understand the typical view of a tele is for its country/twang sound. But they really are versitile guitars, and they sound great when pushed hard. There has always been an awesome alure of a Tele, you just dont want to put them down.

That is a nice Tele. I think it would look nice with a Tortoiseshell pickguard, but that's just me. I like Teles. I like em so much I made one. I don't know if you saw that thread, but here's a photo:
