Anyone ever see this before? I bought this Floyd a couple of years ago from Warmoth. It wasnt cheap. This is a German Floyd Rose, real deal, The good one blah blah .
The black is cracking and flaking off! I could understand if it was an abused guitar, but I've played this thing 3 times since the bridge was installed.

The railroad only uses the best metals in thier wheels...,
some sh#t just breaks..., flawed metal, flawed finishing prossess, or hidden defect.
Is it just me..., or does it look like structurally it is fine, just the metal plating (finishing) is peeling off |

Yeah, Structurally it is fine. Stays in tune great, But I cant help feeling for the $180 I paid for a bridge, It should be as good as the one I bought in 1986 that still looks perfect lol. |

Send the pix to Warmoth...,
They charge a pretty heafty price for thier stuff, 'cause it's apperently high end. Maybe they'll replace it. |

It's a manufacturer's defect. If it's still under warranty they will replace it. The plating just didn't cure/stick properly in that area. Not a big deal, I'm sure if it's under warranty they will just repair (send you a new baseplate) or replace the whole unit. It's pretty easy to tear apart and swap that part out. |

I've never seen the black flake off like that. Its the toughest finish on that bridge I think. I'll be watching to see if they take care of that or not. I hope it gets resolved. |

Warmoth said that normally the warranty is only good for a year, but I can send it back and they will check it out. They said it's strange that it happened and they haven't had any plating issues in the past. |

My response from the Floyd Rose Company:
Hey there, Jeff! Sometimes the case can retain humidity and external weather can infiltrate as I'm sure you're aware. Most of the time, we just suggest cleaning lightly with soap and water, but it doesn't sound like this was from overuse at all.
Just for reference, I had a case for my Gibson SG that kept retaining moisture. A day after replacing strings, they would be rusty after being in the case and some of the nickel finish on my bridge would come off.
Did he understand the question? Did I understand the answer? this guitar stays in a case in a second floor closet, Not in a basement. |

I am happy to report Warmoth sent me a brand new Floyd Trem. I will buy more from them in the future just because they stand by their products. Please note the Floyd Rose company did not stand by it. |

Kudos to Warmoth, but I'm pretty surprised by Floyd Rose's response. It's literally the only product you sell, how can you not stand behind it? |
