SIT Strings...

Used to be ALL I WOULD PLAY. Then I couldn't find them so I switched to the usual DR, GHS and whatever I happened to buy or someone would say I should try.

But now I'm moving back to SIT. MY OPINION is I've tried everything else and to be honest, nothing really has grabbed me like the old SIT's did.

They are USA FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED. They DON'T sell to the big box stores, you can't find them in Guitar Center. Nothing wrong with Guitar Center, I love the folks in my local store.

Anyone else try SIT Strings?

I use them regularly. Get them from BRG Music.

I don't like how they make my finger tips black, but the price is right, they don't break, and they stay bright for a while.

I've used a few of their acoustic strings. They're ok for the price.

Was on the phone with them this morning. I told them that I couldn't find them in Guitar Center (my local one) and the guy said they didn't sell to big box stores like Guitar Center that they were more into local music stores. I'm thinking that's where HE sells. SIT Probably sells to GC as a house account & not via the typical salesman.

They are good strings and have been around forever so they have staying power as a company. That's a good thing. I haven't heard one bad thing about them however haven't tried them myself. We're all partial to our favourite strings, picks, cables etc... There are some garbage brands out there but most people are smart enough to tell the difference... (most but not all lol) I think I remember seeing SIT ads from the early 90s even... I'm not 100% sure if that's accurate but from memory. The fact that they are still selling strings means something.

SIT was around in the mid 90's for sure. I remember seeing the ads in Guitar Player etc....

I don't like them. they make your fingers black like cheap strings.

I like D'adario and Ernie Balls. Use boomers in a pinch but they go dull really fast.

My time with them started in the early 80's. They had a sleeve around the wrapping part on the ball end. This was GREAT for whammy bars which in the 80's were rampant. EVERYONE abused the crap out of whammy bars then.

I loved them. They actually did stay in tune better than any other string.

I'm not sure about the black thing on your fingers. I'll bet it's whatever coating they are putting on them. DUH, right?

They are sending me a couple of sets to try out. I hope they are as good now as they were back then.

IMO, DR's blow all other string manufacturers out of the water. No black fingers and they outlast most any other string I have used
