Finding a amp has been difficult. I played a bunch and never really got to spend much time with them. The first amp I had looked at was on line Bugera 100w combo It would have been way to much amp but it was $250 (damaged cab)
I could not get my hands on a Jet City anywhere near hear , I had my hands on a Marshall DSL 40C combo and that might have been the best amp ( I didn't really spend enough time with it either)
What I ended up with was the Lil Night Train for $150 at GC on day after Black Friday (impulse buy ) Turned out not to be what I wanted so back to GC and I got a very nice Bogner Alchemist 40w Combo. Only bumber is the combo weighs 65lbs.
It has a G12 Vintage 30 speaker, 2 channels and an effects loop in back with it's own volume.
D#*n Nice amp sound wise. 6L6 power and 5 - 12ax7's 20w switch some effects built in. Never used them yet.here is the discrip. not what I paid :

That looks interesting.
Have you tried the Delay or Reverb yet? |

No , not yet. I don't use reverb much . I'll try them.
The amp seems to have good distortion and clean works
well. |

The Alchemist is basically the power section from the Line 6 / Bogner Spider valve series with a different preamp section. Its a decent amp. Good tone for not much money. I had considered buying one more than once. But I am holding out for a Shiva. Congrats on the snag. I find the night train to be a bit lacking too. Its a fun amp to toy around with, but I much prefer many other small wattage mini-heads to the night train, like the Tweaker and the Rev Jr. |

Thanks Brad, I played a tweaker , I think the egnater rebel 30 might have had an edge sound wise but I did read about the 15w tweaker versatility on another forum and the russian 6P3S tubes are supposed to make it sound more like a JCM800.
If I had been patient I might have ended up with the Carvin V3m.I didn't want to change tubes right away and wanted more bang for the buck. $424 for the Alchemist.
I had read that the Alchemist was Designed by Bogner and built by Line 6 but either way at least it has a all tube sound.I almost bought the Blackstar soloist 60 the weak before and I liked the Peavey VK. What I learned about the Lil 2w night train was it could sound great but it took quite a bit of volume.
I might try a video when I get set up but I doubt my playing will be all that impressive. Lol
I need to finish the Baby V. I got a switchcraft jack and Seymour YJM 500k pots to go with the JB pick up. |

There is something I like about vox. I even considered the 50w Night Train but for practice and learning stuff I like the little Vox amplug headphone amplifier. It also has the Aux. so you can plug a mp3 in to it. I have a "Lead" but wonder about the "Metal" and "Satch" |

I tried the Delay and Reverb, it really surprised me. That is a hole other area to explore. I might sound better playing with out distortion with a little reverb . delay is fun to play with.
Never got in to effects or reverb, delay, that much but this amp might make that become past tense. |

You might not care at all, but I know David Ryan Harris was using the Alchemist head version for a while. He might still be, but he goes through a lot of amp combinations. |

Never heard of Mr. Harris. I did find some stuff on YT but nothing that was electric solid body (all acoustic) Seem like he has niche for song writing. |

Full circle , Looks like a miss print $599 for the Bad Cat 50w head. No one at GC was wanting to sell it at that price but it is on the way. Unreal. |
