Cheers brudda... Thinking about getting so much, I have a few ML's but my friend offered me his Dime O Flame for £300 with case... I'm tempted just for old time sakes...

2nd stack/amp or 4th ML haha... I hate decisions.

Anyone know how these sound with the MxR dime distortion, going all sheep if I get the amp. Just dime tone chasing on budget for toy-ing on really. I've seen lots of sucky videos of the dime distortion pedal...

It's been a long time since I've seen the Dime Distortion discussed here, but I remember that general consensus is that it's not that great, particularly if you're chasing Dime's tone.

Are those things even worth a Darn? I noticed Grady at NAMM , also the Amp so happened to be plugged in the MXR Flang. ,but are they anything like the Rg's? I hear they were modeled after them , looks exactly like it , except for the Boost knob...I have just heard Poor reviews , but I personally do Not know? For that price , wouldn't you rather have an Rg 100 for a better price & Tone, or is that just me? Confused

Also, (sorry for the noob question in advance..) is the cab essential to see what this baby can do ? It would run through my line 6 cab right ? Or would not having the Dime amp really effect the overall goal of what the head was designed for... ?

The Dime amp is a one trick pony that will bore you in a day or so and then you will want to throw it out the 10th story window while kicking yourself in the ass for being stupid enough to want one in the first place Laughing

No disrespect to Dean Co. in the least, everything else they make/have made is usually top notch for the money

I think they're line 6 custom celestion. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about my line 6, many line 6 haters here actually liked how mine sounds live. Which I find unusual. Its the hd spider iv.

Northwinds, I'll check it out dude, I'm only looking for something to have as a backup/mess around.

I had a couple of Line 6's on the past. The big Spider Valve combo , it was 150w I think. I liked how they sounded at conversation level but once you put the volts to them, they quickly get old. The Peavey Vyper 120w combo I had sounded much better. I also had a big Flextone III combo which soundy farty at high volumes. I think that was more the speakers they used in it though and being a sealed back, they did not agree Confused

When I bought my first head, I piggybacked it into the 1x12 speaker on a 50 watt solid state Marshall combo and it did the trick just fine.

That said though, a good cab and a good pair of speakers will really help your amp shine. You'll be fine putting it through whatever for the time being so long as the ohms match up alright, but if you like it and you want to keep it, I'd consider upgrading your cabs/speakers.

If u are saying u have the halfstack and want to know if u can run it with the DIME head , then YES , you should...I run my Rg 100 with my LINE6 speakers, then switch to my Warheads sometimes, as long as it's 8ohms...Get an Rg Dude, save money plus better tone...I played one for 3 minutes but had to go...So that is why I was asking if anyone had more experience with them playing it longer...I was NOT impressed with what I heard...You can get Better CHUGS out of a LINE6 Head...NO OFFENSE to DEAN , but a lot of younger guys see Dime's name on it and think they are gonna get his tone, don't think so...Might need an OD pedal if you do want it bad enough, but I personally would not get one, just My opinion

id say northwinds is half right. it is a one trick pony, but not everyone is gonna get bored with it. get the notion of getting any sort of dime tone with it out of your head RIGHT NOW if you want to get one.

i greatly enjoyed the kirk windstein method of using a metalzone mt-2 as a clean boost. and i had some fun with the zakk wylde OD up fron on it. but at the end of the day it wouldnt do what i wanted. just couldnt take that last step in to super crunch and chunk.

michael angelo batio made his sound great for his rip roaring shredding, and its a no brainer for hard rock and 80's metal. but i couldnt figure out how to make it any heavier sounding.

i hated the dime cab. emminence legends in it. and it didnt hold a candle to my randall cab with the old jaguars...so...theres that, take it for what its worth.

Grab a RG100es brother! It's what the Dime Amp's trying to be! Plus wouldn't you rather use a head Dime actually well.. USED?! Wink

I've read good reviews here.., supposed to be an RG with the mxr 6 band built in..,
I nailed Dime tone and had fun with it.
Life changes though once you get a Mesa Cool

I tried a D100 out last summer at a local shop. I thought the matching cab was garbage. I played it through a Diamond 4X12 after and it was so much nicer. The Dime cab was loose and flubby sounding at gig volumes. With a proper cab it can be a good head to have as a backup. I don't like the feel of the amp because I'm used to tubes but it doesn't sound half bad.

Thank you all so much, as always, it's seems a mixed opinion. From what I've read here and around google I won't bother with the cab if I do ever go for the head, but it seems unlikely now.

I had the Randall G3 camo and hated it, I'm afraid that if I get any Randall, with out all the bells and whistles I hate that too. I was only really looking to get the dime, add a noise gate, wah, reverb and distortion pedal for a little home playing.

Also, I'm limited to what amps I can get. It's either eBay UK or Amazon UK, the nearest guitar shops are a bit of a joke, the journey their is never worth it, stuck up, un-helpful and the products are always "lacking" ... I worked for the one company before so I know how they feel about getting stuffed ordered in. Also they prices they charge are ridiculous for having stuff ordered.

It's either that, or another Dean or Washburn. If any UK dudes are selling either, let me know.

But once again, you've all been a huge help.

Never used it man, until you just mentioned it. Never knew it existed.

I just seen that Line 6 ux2 for home recording,I've been looking for something like that for ages, but I'm new to actually setting up the recording process.... for that price, I think I may have found what I've needed to demo with my band.

I'm right in thinking that i could input and record guitars/bass/elec drums, vocals through it... maybe adding some effects to the instruments/vocals... all this into a laptop ?

the video on the site says it comes with a recording software suite... i've always just recorded directly from my amp into audcaity, never tinkered with any of the "polishing" options.. just raw sound into the laptop... but is this any better than doing that, purely for demo purposes.
