Just picked this up today! The guy I bought it from was offering it with a cab for a really good price so I asked how much he'd want for the head...a STEAL! I remembered liking this head a lot when I played one a couple years ago, so I decided why not. Plugged it in today after picking it up and it blew me away. I've been using some of my other gear for a "Marshally" tone, but this is so much more in your face and direct. Sounds great. My other amps are just too thick to really sound like a Marshall. Can't play it too much, since I just got my tonsils out and am in tons of pain, but I'm going to put this thing through its paces when I get a chance. I'm really pumped about this one!

I like them. When I was shopping around and ended up with my first Mesa, I tried this, and Orange, some other amps, and I really liked the Vintage Modern. I was looking for something a little more versatile, and since there's a volume difference between the Low and High Dynamic modes, it's not really two channels, per se, so I passed at the time. I've got enough multi-channel amps now, and can work the guitar volume and pedals a little better now as well, so it made perfect sense to me! I'm just really excited about this one! |

Both were 50s. I used to gig one with Silvertung until it blew up (I don't know why but one night it lunched itself. Could happen to any amp though). The second one I used with DD for a few months. I ended up selling it to get my 800 but it's not because it sounded bad or anything. It's a cool amp. I've grown away from anything over 50 watts anymore because it's totally not necessary these days. |

I like those. The matching 4x12 cabs are killer by the way. They have the vintage reissue greenbacks that are only in the Jimi Hendrix stack. Really sweet setup. Enjoy the new amp. |

Yeah the cabs are killer... I think it's called the 425B? Something like that. I like the cab more than the head lol |

Nice pickup Jake! I almost traded for a 50w halfstack that looked brand new. Went to pick it up and the cops were there, it was stolen from a father and pawned by his crackhead son |

Well that doesn't sound good. This one was just a middle aged guy who bought it and never really used it. Had this and the can listed for $1200 then lowered the price for both because it wasn't selling. I asked about the head and he gave me a price I couldn't refuse! Any idea how this stacks up to the SL-Xs you've had? I'm curious to compare it to my Peavey VTM which is another Marshally type amp... |

Paul Gilbert uses the VintageModern amps, so that should give you an idea of the huge range of tones you can get with these suckers. |

Not as much gain IMO but a lot more versatile. Best classic rock amp on the market right now, a lot of brothers over at MLP have them |
