I like them. They are like hot rod super d's. I like the custom shop dimarzio schenkers too. Not too hot. Not too crunchy. Just right.

I have a few. I like them a lot for their strong upper mids and soaring highs with enough low end to keep up. They are very sensitive to pick attack and have tons of harmonic overtones. If you are a 70s/80s rocker and play in std or Eb, you will love them. They definitely have a pronounced upper midrange which does not work as well with drop tunings or if you like the scooped sound.

I am not sure if you heard anyone playing my Razor V in the conference room at DOA but that's what's in the bridge of it.

I played that v a lot, and I liked the sound of the pick attack at high and low NPS, and you get a nice crisp sound when sweeping (i like the sound of the high strings when sweeping).

I just answered the same question in another thread;

"The Lights Out set is one of the my fav pickup sets, but it does not have the "trademarked wha in the middle" tone... that's a real wha. The closest pickup I'd compare it to is Gibson's wild 498T... a hot rodded T-Top tone."

The 498 is a close comparison, but the lights out doesn't have the thickness of a 498. Otherwise they are similar. I find them to have more crunch as well. But they both have a great sound. I am a big fan of the schenkers, and I am a big fan of the 490/498 gibby setup too.

Love the T-top sound so that hot rodded is fine, i noticed you own a custom shop ESP schenker V with a duncan custom/59 set? thats the set he used to use how does the lights out set compare to those? i am real familiar with the duncans
