sounds like alice in chains to me.

AIC fans are only depriving themselves of good music if they keep using the excuse that's its not Layne on vocals.
AIC is Jerry Cantrell. music and lyrics. this is what AIC would sound like today if Layne was still here. So get over it and enjoy the ride. Although this songs reminds me of some Taproot a bit.

Considering they have been my favorite band for over ten years I would have to say I like the song and imo if it's anything like bgwtb I am sure there is better material that will be released from the new album in the future

I'm not hung up on Layne's death, in fact I think BGWTB was their best album since dirt or facelift. It took me a few spins of the record to get a feel for it.

Its just the feel of the song. I just can't get into it. After I listen to it a few times I'm sure my opinion will change, but that's the beauty of music.

I like it ok. Only listened to it once so far. Definately very chainsy!! One thing I can say is that even though I like their new stuff, it will never be the same without Layne. AC/DC will never be the same without Bon, even though Angus is the central focal point of the band. Theres still a lot of good tunes from Back in Black forward, but there will never be another Whole Lotta Rosie out of them, just like there will never be another Would by AIC. But on the other hand, i don't know if you guys' radio stations suck as bad as the one here in Houston but hopefully this gets thrown in the mix and that will be 5 minutes less a day I get forcefed Muse, The Black Keys, and Mumford and Sons by our crappy rock station. Its a sad state of affair currently for fm rock radio.

Alice 'n Chains came first with Layne. Then they changed the name and replaced members bringing in Jerry. So AiC is Layne Staley.
Iirc that is.

You are correct! But the Writing Credits going back to SAP and Facelift are mostly Jerry. Cool

You're wrong... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_Chains

Either way, this still still sounds like layne is there....

FWIW, I grew up when AC/DC had Bon and they were only a band with a cult following. When Brian joined and they released Back in Black, that was when they became a household name

I dig both incarnations though the Bon years were MUCH more rawer

Only partially wrong.................

"While performing with Alice N' Chains, Staley met guitarist Jerry Cantrell while working at Music Bank rehearsal studios, where the two struggling musicians became roommates, and lived in a rehearsal space they shared."

A;ice n" Chains and alice in chains are two different bands...
Quote:
Alice N' Chains soon disbanded and Staley joined a funk band who at the time also required a guitarist. Staley asked Cantrell to join as a sideman. Cantrell agreed on condition that Staley join Cantrell's band, which at the time included drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Starr. Eventually the funk project broke up and in 1987 Staley joined Cantrell's band on a full-time basis, playing in clubs around the Pacific Northwest, often stretching 15 minutes of material into a 45-minute set. The band played a couple of gigs calling themselves several different monikers, including Diamond Lie, which was the name of Cantrell's previous band,[8] before they eventually took the name that Staley's previous band had initially flirted with - Alice in Chains.

All those bands are actually good and have a different sound. I'd be really happy if a station played those bands around here. I don't understand your logic behind calling them 'crappy.'

On the other hand, I dig the AIC song. Not the best, but it's pretty good. I can definately dig the riff.
