So after giving my new ML79F a good playing ive come to the conclusion that i am changing the bridge pick up out. Only reason is cus its too muddy and not crunchy. Its great and warm sounding but it hasnt got the crunchy metal tone that i desire. So the first PUP that came to mind was the Dimebucker but thats very similar to the BLXL500l in my DFH so i kinda wanted to try a different one. Right now im thinking about getting a Duncan SH8 Invader but i kinda want your opinions too.

I recommend the Baker Act. And not because its in my new guitar and Im having 'new guitar rush', but because its an insane pickup!
Ive tried the Invader first hand in my friends Schecter, and it was very hot with alot of output, but lacked definition IMO. The Baker Act has all the output but has great clarity and definition. You play a chord, and each note is crisp and defined.

Ive heard great things about the Duncan Distorion too. I just have first hand experience with the Baker Act, and I dig it.

I was never that crazy about the Invader. It's so overwound that all I hear is mids and mud. If you want a pickup that is in the vein of a hot, compressed, mid cut pickup, the Dimarzio Steve's Special would be a good pickup for you. You don't have to worry about it getting too muddy, that's for sure.

Feel free to post again with additional wants/needs in what you are looking for in a pickup. I'll be happy to make additional suggestions.

I did look at the Baker PUP and it seemed pretty good. From a PUP i really want this tight Crunchy but it has to be Clear and a little thick too. Like i really dig the sound of the BL500XL, the crunch and heavyness is there but i also want something abit clearer and abit warmer. If that makes sense to you

Duncan Distortion, there is absolutely nothing better in my humble opinion. I must have wired up over a hundred different pickups over the past 15 years or so and the SH-6 beats them all, hands down, any day of the week. It flat does everything and everything well.

Now having said that, Dimebucker and Baker Act are outstanding pups as well. Can't go wrong with either of those.

The invader as you mentioned tends to get muddy depending on your set-up. It wails, but can be dark, especially in a large bodied guitar.

You may check out the ALT-8 as well if you play anything dropped below D tuning.... it really stands out with the Drop Tune croud.

check out a lot of youtube camparison video's for more ideas.

Clear is generally associatied with glassy. Thick is usually associated with being warm. So clear and thick kind of go in opposite directions. I do agree with Jerkov in that the Duncan Distortion is extremely versitile, and is an overall great pickup. Since there are so many on the market, I figure you could find one used for a good price.

I know this suggestion may be a little out there, but a pickup that is hot, full blast, thick, but still has definition is the JB8. Also known as a JB with an Alnico 8 magnet. I have them in two of my guitars, and love them. Although, I figure that the S.D. Alternative 8 is pretty much the same pickup. It's something to think about.

Hmmmmm so after thinking its down to these 3. My mind is on the Duncan Distortion after taking a look at all these PUPS. The ML its going in will be in D standard pretty much

That pickup is so full of WIN!!!! I used to have an Explorer Pro that came with one in the bridge and it was amazingly powerful. It's rediculous for metal.

I would steer clear from the Invader unless you're doing 2 of them because there will be a big volume difference between the bridge and neck pickup if you don't.

If you want to stay with DMT I would go with a Time Capsule. That's my favorite DMT pickup. You can also try an MOT, which used to be my favorite. It's really high output.

Good choice. My favorites for metal are: Duncan Distortion, Dimarzio X2N, EMG 81, Duncan Blackout, and my new favorite... Dimarzio D-Activator X.

In my opinion the standard Duncan Blackout in my BC Rich Warlock NJ Deluxe is the definitive metal pickup/guitar. I've yet to top that sound.
