Hey guys. I got and SM57 today from a friend on the forum but I'm not sure how to record.

I tried plugging it into an XLR to 1/4" cable into my amplitube Stealth pedal and although I can hear the recorded guitar the levels are really low. I have the gain on the pedal an Asio drivers cranked. On the back of the stealth pedal it has a picture of a guitar and keyboard next to the input. Perhaps it don't work well with a mic.

What do you fellas think is going on? Bad interface? My amp is pretty loud and the mic is picking up the sound. Sounds pretty good too although its very low.

Cheers!

Mic level and guitar level are not the same thing. You need a converter and that interface you have won't do it. If you put a mic preamp in line then you'll be good to go.

Shure make an XLR to USB signal adapter called the X2U. It's what I use, it's pretty funky. Mr. Green

I have a presonus Inspire that you can have, if you pay shipping costs.

It is a firewire interface. It is supported up to Win 7.

Let me know if you want it. I used it for years.

I appreciate all the help but I ended up buying one tonight. Daniel is picking it up for me. The reviews and demo's on youtube sound really good. It has a nice warm tone and will work as a DI for local gig's.
