ghs subzeros or super steels.

I played ghs boomers for years then played ernie ball for years. Recently I bought a guitar that came with D'adarios on it then switched to those. Ironically though the ones I buy from the store or ebay or whatever just dont seem to be the same ones in sound and feeling as the ones that came on the guitar. I thought for a minute I was losing my hearing. I put some boomers back on. I know what you are thinking, boomers are good for a day or two then get the dull sound real fast. So they end up getting changed out cause they started to get the dull sound. Put some D'Adarios back on and they still seem to sound dull and shiny at the same time. Kinda brite but missing some low end frequincies. lIke cranking your amp and turning your lows off. And similar to running an efx loop out to a recording and using cab sims. A flat eq response. It difficult to explain.
So I am on the hunt for some new strings. I gotta get this horrid sound out of my head.

Elixers are ok. they fell real nice on your fingers but the sound is just ok.
I hate other coated strings , especially the colored ones.
Hate Dr strings even more. THey are the worse strings on the planet and leave black s#%t on your fingers.
The Rogues strings from musicians friend arent too bad

Anyone try GHS Super Steels or Sub zeros?
Im thinkning supersteels will be too brite and subzeros are just a gimmick to get more money out of people. I dont dirty strings up or get rusty or any of that crap anyways.

Huh Confused ? I use them exclusively and they seem to last forever. I never see black stuff on my fingers from them even freshly installed. I wish you were close because I would let you try my Explorer with DR's from 6 months ago that look like new and sound fresh despite daily playing. That's a pretty damning statement Kris

I used to use DiAddario's until I tried DR's and have not looked back since. They are good strings though, just don't last very long in comparison

yea i tried the ones that dime used to advertise. they were aweful. 2 different times and both times as soon as I tuned it up left black crap on my fingers. like what happens when you use that nasty oil soaked ghs cloth.

I tried sub zeroes once. For me they kind of had that dull tone on a couple strings...like the tone was rolled back on my guitar. Not muffled but certainly not clear.

I stand by Ernie Ball strings. I am also curious if anyone has tried the cobalts yet and how are they?

I have used Cobalts exclusively since last NAMM. Great strings that last a very long time.

This happened me as well, I bought a couple of sets of them a few years ago and within a week they'd turned to black rusty crap, which was pretty dissappointing.

But yeah, I cast my vote for EB's as well. Mr. Green

I agree however I noticed a lot of player complaining about how they feel. "Concrete strngs" are what people like to call them. It's got this strange tactile thing going on where they sort of grip you... Know what I mean Lanning?

They have a tacky feel but I don't notice it when I play. My fingertips are like glass so they don't inhibit me.

I barely have any sensation in my fret hand's finger tips but I appreciate that strange grip when sliding/bending. It's a big switch from even my DR's neons which aren't slippery like Elixirs.

I love Ernie Ball Cobalts. They last forever, and dont sound bad at all until they break. The feel is something that Ive come to prefer. It really grabs your fingers on the lower strings, and you fret accurately. Theyre great in every way IMO.
