MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine, who last year revealed his "birther" opinions on a Canadian talk show, saying he doubted President Barack Obama was born in the United States, has thrown his weight behind yet another conspiracy theory — this time involving "chemtrails."

The "chemtrail" conspiracy theory holds that some trails left by aircraft are chemical or biological agents deliberately sprayed at high altitudes for purposes undisclosed to the general public in clandestine programs directed by various government officials. This theory is not accepted by the scientific community, which states that they are just normal contrails, short for "condensation trails," as there is no scientific evidence supporting the chemtrail theory.

In two separate tweets on Saturday (January 5), Mustaine wrote: "Shame on the pilots spraying the grid lines in the once beautiful skies of San Diego. Shame, shame, shame! It's aluminum oxides & barium salts. They know what their cargo is. Only a fool or an accomplice would argue the unarguable. #chemtrails"

Mustaine made headlines last August when he said on stage during a concert in Singapore that Obama was behind recent shooting rampages near Denver and Milwaukee. He continued his diatribe by wondering where he was going to live "if America keeps going the way it's going, because it looks like it's turning into Nazi America."

I think he fell off his rocker and as he was falling the rocker tipped and hit him in the head.

I bet he's paranoid about aliens too. Thats why he's shopping at Men's Wearhouse so much. He needs to look the part.

I remember years ago listening to the Coast To Coast After Dark radio show. They used to talk all sorts of conspiracy and ghost stories, stuff about demons etc... Chem Trails were always a topic of discussion at one point of the night with some callers. I think it's complete nonsense but Dave's a rockstar. He's entitled to being a bit of a lunatic to keep his name in the news.

Didn't the rest of Megadeth recently distance themselves from Dave's views? I think he's losing his mind, most of the stuff he says is nonsense.

Yeh George is at the helm now. Art used to come in and do the show every now and then to fill in. I haven't listened in a while though. When I was a cop and working midnights there was a guy on my shift who used to be into it as well. On a dead night we would park next to each other, roll the windows down and listen and discuss the show lol. I miss those nights. I may start listening again.

well since 911 the government has taken alot of our freedoms away and locked this country down and with every public attack we have less and less freedom. They can crawl up anyone's ass now for no reason all they have to do is say national security.they can even detain you without charges indefinitely now.Every time theirs a Terrorist attack or public shooting or whatever they just take more rights from us and most people don't even see it cause they are blinded by the media.Everybody's freaking out perfect time to amend these rights away to "protect"the people.Once they succeed in taking our gun rights away somebody's going to try to attack bank on it!

I've been a member of the Dean forum for a while now, but only started posting recently. Is there a "no politics" policy here as in a few other forums? Maybe not; however, with regards to Mr. Mustaine and his choices of topics, the bottom line is this. The older man gets the more "conservative" man becomes, most of the time, and usually if you become a husband and father. His anti-current president views are shared by many. His conspiracy theory choices are as wide as most all people's. You just choose your own topics. One of my favorites is with regards to "unique life existences."
1. I believe in the "possibility of life on other planets...waiting for proof
2. I believe in the extreme "possibility of the existence of "Bigfoot."
3. I believe in the "Chupacabra"
4. I believe in Loch Ness Monster type prehistoric mammals alive in many lakes today
5. I believe in enormous, massive ocean creatures miles and miles below the ocean surface
6. I don't believe Oswald acted alone, at least he may have thought he was the lone gunman though

I agree. Dave may be off his rocker but there's some weight look at Monsanto, GMO's, Red 40, MSG, arsenic in apple juice, the discussions of adding lithium to the water supply "to lower homicide and suicide rates." Never trust anyone in power.

I've never heard of the manbearpig, or the Scuzzlebutt, but now I am curious. As to Mr. Mustaine, he is simply an adamant conservative "voter" with a platform to voice his opining. We should all be so lucky. However, I would never advocate that he should get back on drugs and/or alcohol. Mind-altering substances stronger then some chocolate or a cup of coffee are never good for man. As usual, I may stand alone!

I think they're both South Park creations.

Manbearpig and Scuzzlebutt are both South Park references. I think youtube might have a few clips of both.

I wouldn't call Dave "conservative" so much as I think he just hates everything. "Foreclosure of a Dream" really threw a punch at the first George Bush, and I don't think Dave held back on that one. I know lots of people like that. It doesn't matter who's in power, they disagree with everything. Nothing makes them happy. They really can't be labeled as liberal or conservative.

The lyrics on United Abominations are very neocon and some in support of traditional values and faith.

Id agree.

remember he got fired from metallica from an alcoholic who fired him for being an alcoholic. there was much more to it than just being a drunk. He had to be a huge troll and the drunk was as easy excuse. every band has the guy in the band that just doesnt fit in and you think of ways to push him off a ledge without anyone speculating. Shocked Oh did I say that out loud? firing him was the closest they had to a ledge.

Mustaine should have stayed on drugs. How can he explain the B-17s in WWII. Oh that's right they were spraying Barium then too.

I believe in everything you do too. Except #6 G. HW Bush was involved in that too. He was paid by the Rothschilds to HIT JFK, because JFK issued an executive order once again making the US Treasury responsible for issuing currency. Thus taking that power away from the FED Reserve.

I guess I have my answer now...politics is allowed in the Dean forum.
As to the Southpark characters, no wonder I didn't know them. I hated that show. It took one viewing with buddies who loved it for me to opt out.
Regarding Mustaine, maybe he's simply anti-government, but on the conservative side just slightly. Regardless, we can all be annoyed by mandates that strip rights and freedoms. However, I'd hope with those freedoms people would "choose" common sense. Strong brain-altering substances are bad for man's body! We have the right to drink or smoke what we want, but should we, especially if it impairs man's behavior in public? Funny that smoking cigarettes has become a taboo, but drink up and party dude, drink up! I'd rather be on the highway with 10 people holding a cigarette in hand, then just one knucklehead with a beer.

Whether you think he's crazy or not, the chemtrails should bother you. Condensation trails are normal for planes to create during flight. They also dissipate after a short while. The chemtrails on the other hand, last ask day long, or longer. There's no reason for the vapor trails to last as long as they do, if they're just normal condensation trails. I'm not saying they are for sure chem trails, but I definitely know that the trails that last in the sky way too long are not normal and probably not good for us.

The chemtrail/contrail debate has gone on forever. No one has a real fix on it. No one has attempted, as far as I know to send up a balloon or drone of some sort to try and extract a sample and until that is done it's way too easy to theorize about what we don't know. It's more romantic to think there is some big conspiracy than to just get the truth by using science.

People say things like this based purely on assumption. Are you a scientist? Do you know for sure what is "normal" dissipation for vaporous gases in the air based on altitude, wind speeds, temperature, etc? Sounds to me like a lot if fear-mongering based on a lack of understanding. There's a lot of paranoid people who've made up their minds and have decided to trust no one. They exploit these lapses in common understanding with pseudoscience and assumption.

True, but at the same time, you can't deny the possibility of it being not good. I have seen that the aluminum levels of water supplies are way higher than what's considered toxic for human consumption, and way higher than they were before the prevalence of the alleged chem trails. Also some theories/press releases of the chem trails being a method to create clouds. Yes, theres a lot of bullshit out there, but theres probably some truth out there too. Proving it either way is the hard part. I'm not saying what it is or isn't, I'm just saying something ain't right. And, maybe I am a scientist.........

Im banging a scientist, her opinion is as follows :

"Wow. These people must be really bored and let their mind wander while staring at the sky."

Id like to ask a question. whats the point? Why exactly would "they" do this? Haphazard chemical dispersal in the air? Seems.........decidedly lacking in precision.

Who cares if they're spraying stuff in the sky anyway? People have much higher life expectancies compared to 100 years ago, if this chemtrail crap was real there's no need to fuss over it because there's no obvious effect on health. Same as regards to the water supplies, people are living longer so what's the problem? It's just idiots scaremongering anyone who's gullible enough to believe that their government is wrapped up in a multitude of bizarre conspiracies, like taking over the world through mind/weather control or some other nonsense.

It's much less stressful to just not give a crap. People drink, smoke, etc. what's such a big deal about a few more chemicals hanging around that may not even exist.

Here here, another voice of reason. I have been a lot of places, done a lot of things in my life (some of which I'm contractually sworn to keep quiet) and have met a lot of people. I can say one thing after my experiences. There are a lot of people who romanticize in debating theories. I think most of it comes from bordom on a molecular level. A need to think that something, somewhere is out to get them or is in control. I'll be the first to admit it's fun sometimes. Like creeping yourself out in a dark room by pretending a killer is outside room for the sake of it. It's NOT reality. I'm not saying that the government doesn't have secrets because they do but the purpose isn't to spray us with chemicals or poison us. It's to protect us from ourselves. Things are kept secret because the best defence is a better offense, especially one that's unknown or unexpected.

I love that stuff. I'll check it out. I don't hold stock in 98% of it but like you said, it is entertainment.

conspiracy theories are fun to read . the only bad thing, the more you visit those type of sites, the more your IP address pops up in the registry on echelon(siginit) and the higher your name goes up the list that the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, Interpol, etc keeps.

I took careful construction in my creation of humorous irony and rhetoric or whatever it is called.

One day everything he says will come true, and we will all have to apologise to him for thinking he's almost, or more off his knocker than Mel Gibson-though that is an extremely hard feat to even match.

I think Mustain and Ventura should be running mates for office in 2016. Maybe the insano-campaign is just what the US needs to get back on track.

hell, if i was famous and just doing music all the time, i'd do the same thing. sounds like fun. he probably spends his free time on 4chan

Id agree.

remember he got fired from metallica from an alcoholic who fired him for being an alcoholic. there was much more to it than just being a drunk. He had to be a huge troll and the drunk was as easy excuse. every band has the guy in the band that just doesnt fit in and you think of ways to push him off a ledge without anyone speculating. Shocked Oh did I say that out loud? firing him was the closest they had to a ledge.
This is true but I think they did Dave a favour. I favour his choices musically over the former. just sayin.

has there ever been a conspiracy theory that turned out to be true?

Plenty. Here's a few of them.

Great article, and everyone should read it, but not many are conspiracy theories... Governments regularly have secrets or lie to their people.

So you wouldn't mind me urinating in your spaghetti water then?

Seriously? Who cares if they're spraying stuff in the sky anyways?
I DO. If you don't then I guess don't complain later when you have cancer.
