they are trying to appeal to the masses, I suppose. The v is where its at, imho, but it is a turn-off to the conservative guitar player. I think they should have gone with the little shrimp fork v headstock, personally. |

I dig it. I hope it comes in white with gold hw.. wonder what the neck shape will be. Only thing I don't like is the input jack placement. |

Saw this earlier on their facebook page. It's definitely a nice looking guitar, headstock seems like a slightly enlarged mustaine HS but it definitely suits the guitar. I hope we see some more of this from NAMM. Also, doesn't it say it's from the straight 6 series aswell? That implies there might be more than just a V, ML with 6 in line headstock anybody? |

Call me a purist, but I like the v headstock. Its one of the main reasons I like deans. In my opinion a step forward would be to reintroduce the BFH on all models. If I wanted a v with a normal headstock I could buy a gibson, schecter, jackson, esp, etc, etc. . . It is a pretty guitar though. |

It makes you wonder if it's an experiment to see if they'll sell more this year based on the HS change alone. |

Guess I'll be that guy and go against the grain. Not a fan of that style headstock on that style body. Much prefer the classic V or a Gibby style headstock on a rounded V body. |

all pointy guitars should have a v headstock
all round guitars should have the evo/gibby style headstock.
all Ebony should be ebony and not stained rosewood. that has become an epidemic with guitar builders recently.
OK. All dean guitar problems solved. |

If the series does well, the finishes and options can always be expanded upon later... just like the Thoroughbred series & Custom series, which have expanded lines in 2013. |

(a) All these new guitars are cool. I am glad to see lots of new ideas coming from Dean this year.
(b) It's great to see Dean HQ participating in this forum. Looking forward to a killer 2013 NAMM show. |

With all respect to the heritage of the iconic V shaped headstock. That 6 in line is the head stock that the Z needed. It makes it look like a more complete guitar. I more than dig these, good job Dean team |

Yeah,
Chances are that Gibson Custom you played in your other thread had a Richlite board if it was from 2012.
Zakk Wylde made Gibson change the Bullseye pattern when they went from Ebony to Richlite for the Fingerboard on his Sig.
The Gibson Thunderhorse and Ace Frehley Budokan (The more affordable one) has Richlite.
Seems real ebony is extinct...which saddens me because I despise rosewood and do not want to buy guitars with compressed chemical whateverthehell Richlite is...
I dig some of the new Dean designs, but I despise rosewood...
Also saddened all that Gibson seems to be offering is Rosewood this year too. I really Dig the baked maple, but seems they dropped that and it was a one year thing. |

Hmmm. Not feeling the 6 in line at all for the Caddy, ML, or V.
It seems to fit the Z very well. A reverse would be interesting to see. |

OK. All dean guitar problems solved. |
What about the incredibly high prices that everyone now has on their import guitars? That is a worse epidemic! Don't you know that inflation has not been over 3% since Obama took office (HA, HA, HA, HA, .rolls on the floor holding his testicles, while looking at a $300 guitar that cost $500!)? |

Dammit Dean. I was all done with buying new guitars. Figured I had enough since I'm only a bedroom player. But noooooo. You have to put out an affordable 7 string neck thru guitar. Damn you Dean. |

The Chicago series looks killer for sure. The USA Chicagos look incredible. The import Chicago Flame Series looks like its the same spec as the 35th Anniversary from last year. I have one of those, so it is great that they are bringing it back as full production run. The 35th was limited to 150 of each shape, and it is a truely awesome guitar. If the same level of detail goes into these import Chicago guitars, you are all in for a treat.
And they have FINALLY switched around the "Flame" and "Standard" series names so they make sense!
Okay, the Gran Sport (SG Style) looked killer in the facebook photos with that artist guy jamming on it, etc. But the photo of it in the catalogue looks a little awkward. I am not sure about the body shape. I will have to wait until next week when I see it in person to make a judgement.
But overall, I am very excited about the new lineup. More so than in a while. Cant wait until NAMM. |

That 6 in line headstock is an absolute abomination. Total sacrilege. Yuk, barf, cough, chunks, yuk !!!!!
But, you guys seem to like it so maybe it will sell.
Did I mention I didn't like it ? Barf ~~~~~~~~ |

Looks aight....I like the regular V headstock on Dean's V shaped guitars because they just seems to go together well. Can't stand the slanted inline 6 designs anymore like the old school Jackson....just reminds me too much of 80's guitars and superstrats. That design isn't too bad though. I dig the 3X3. |

Tom, please tell me that you are smarter that this! You know very well that the cost of building guitars goes up every year, regardless of inflation. |

wait a minute,
so the straight six headstock is Obama's fault? i don't buy it. Bush put that policy in place in 2006. |

Or a reverse headstock
IMO, the only two good looking headstocks for a V are the Gibson and the non-BFH type Dean's. Hell no to a shrimpfork on a V. Jay Turser did that with their original Warlord and that was the most unappealing aspect of an otherwise quite decent V type guitar |

Just went through the 2013 .pdf
The in line 6 guitars look like Ibanez Rocket Roll's and Destroyer's
That new Trans Am looks sort of like an Iceman/Firebird combo
New takes on old designs w/ minor tweaks
The Ammott guitars look like Jay Turser designs
The Chicago series looks good but man, make some without the BFH. I realize that would be counterproductive since that was when the BFH was born though. The smaller narrower Czech headstocks would be a nice option |

They aren't BFH's, they are Series II's, just like every 79-Series guitar for years. |

Sorry my bad, looks like BFH's to my eyes but I was never a fan of the oversized versions anway. I like the Czech ones a lot, especially on a V |

I think the Series II headstock is just right. The Series 3 looks good too. But I like the Series II better. BFH is just too darn big... and fragile too. |
