Took my family skiing at Great North Slopes near Cincinnati. Perfect day for skiing at about 55 degrees and sunny. I had scoured the Cincinnati CL and found this minty Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar with the SD JB/59 combo and talked the guy into meeting me at the ski area. On the way home my awesome wife let me stop at GC and pick up the Fender Showmaster I had on layaway, which also has the JB/59 combo. The icing on the cake is she told me to keep both of them. My conscious won't allow that so I need to choose. One of these days.

A guy I know has a Showmaster that is like yours, but darker in color. His has the dual 59's in it. Once I fret dressed it, and completely re-set it up, it played pretty nice.
I hope you get to keep both guitars, but I know how you like to love em' and leave em' (er, sell them.)
Should I get a head start on saying, "Good luck with sale" right now? |

I can keep both if I want no problem, but I know myself and I just can't keep guitars that have any real value around. I have the skills to make awesome partscasters and the luck to find great quality parts for cheap, so that's what I do, and I enjoy doing it. I got both of these cheap so there's a good profit in both. I had an identical Showmaster back in October and sold it, and owned 2-3 of them before that. They are great guitars for a Fender fanboy like me. I'll probably end up with the Squier because I've been getting into offsets lately and the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe series are really really nice, and I like the control layout on this one. It has the Gibson style controls but only two pots. The chrome knob is volume and the black ring is tone. Of course the 59/JB are icing on the cake.

That jag is the gazongas! I haven't had much experience with them but I've always found them strangely funky and attractive.
If I had to choose I'd go for the jag but of course it's your call mate. |

The Showmaster is awesome. I used to have a USA custom shop Flathead Showmaster and it was a great guitar and I'm sure this one is very similar. I would keep that one. |

I would keep a "Fender" over a Squire every time. |

That's the kind of thinking that leaves lots of awesome Squiers cheap for me. You could swap logos on this Jag and nobody would be the wiser. I'll guarantee this Squier and my Showmaster came out of the same factory.

I was just down in Indianapolis... I picked up about 15 grand worth of speakers for my home theater at Klipsch. Nice place. |
