Lucky man. I was supposed to see Gojira this past winter, but the show got cancelled after Randy's whole predicament, and the new tour ended up not stopping anywhere near me. |

Love Gojira. Saw Devin too around 5 or 6 weeks ago in Glasgow with Fear Factory. It was a really good night and fun to see someone capable of making a crowd of drunk, cold Scotsmen throw their jazz hands in the air I'm seeing Gojira again in March with Ghost, so looking forward to that too. They're probably the only recent-ish metal band i can be bothered with. |

yeah i'm disappointed that devin is opening.
i saw him in october of 2012, and he was headlining. he had a MASSIVE backsplash of monitors that provided an awesome pre-show and an really entertaining show all in all.
this time, since he is opening, his set would be a bit smaller, and not as theatrical and over the top.
oh well, still going to be a good show. going to see them in february |

He still had big movie screens up when I saw him. His set was pretty big considering they were in front of Gojira. He played as long as Gojira did too so it's not like he got screwed. Devin lives here so this was a hometown show. He was talking to people in the audience that he knows from stage between songs and at the end jumped into the audience. Maybe our show was a little different than the others? There was no opening band either so Devin got to play the whole opening time slot as well. The Atlas Moth couldn't get into Canada so they had to wait in Seattle for the tour to come there the next day. |

no offence to the atlas moss, but i hope they cant get into the Toronto show either.
some places in the state say that devins set was fairly small, and no back screens or anything of that nature.
and his banter is amazing. i love how when he was here, he randomly pointed to audience members mid-songs and smiled like they have an inside joke. even though they didn't..
and steve vai was at the show i went to as well. though he was a part of the audience. would be nice for them to do their old songs again. |

Yes he did. He played for about an hour and fifteen minutes and it was a set full of fun, savage breakdowns, laughs and nerdy awkwardness. Pretty amazing. He had one song where a puppet on screen sang the song lol... I don't think I stopped smiling the whole set. The intro before they came on was about 20 minutes of Ziltoid TV as well... A bunch of clips of funny YouTube vids and other oddities. It was a great time. |

Same in Glasgow. He had that daft intro vid playing so the whole crowd was laughing before he even got on stage. It's kinda refreshing going to a metal gig and seeing folk actually turning to complete strangers and sharing a stupid grin or a laugh together. He was excellent that night. Fear Factory and him were headlining alternate nights in the UK but Fear Factory have had their day. The band were tight and stuff but Burton is bloody awful. |

I saw FF in 92 on one of their first tours. They were opening for Sepultura. It was the original lineup and was amazing, but I can't speak for how they are now. Burton is another local, hometown guy here. I respect them but haven't really listend to FF in years.
At the end of Devin's set, we were all mushy, hippies spreading the love. it was great. Then Gojira came on and the place got violent lol |

I saw them a few times, first time in '95 when they supported Ozzy here and they were good then but Burtons voice has long gone. But i can't wait to see Gojira again. Tickets to see them and Ghost together only cost £5 as part of a Jagermeister tour thingy, so there was no way i was going to miss that. I keep trying to get folk into Gojira but it's hard to convince people sometimes to listen beyond the initial roars and screams. If only they let the music soak in a little, more folk would love them. |

That's so true. I don't listen to music much at all these days. I record, and tour and do my band's thing but I'm not really into music that's been recorded in the last 20 years past stuff that I have been listening to forever. Gojira is one of the few modern bands that I can listen to over and over and really appreciate. I try to tell as many people about them as I can. The first time I saw them was with Machinehead, Lamb of God and Trivum in like 06'. The second time was with 10 Years and In Flames in 08'. Both shows were amazing. This third was amazing and even better that they were headliners. I just knew they would reach that stature some day. Devin is another one of my favorite bands so it was like a dream tour. The only thing that would have made it better is if my band was opening lol |

Honestly, try the "From Mars To Sirius" album and leave it playing in the background while you do something else and just let it sink in a little. I hate growly crap too but Gojira are different. |

no screens at the tour kick off show in Minneapolis. was still a great show but was odd seeing such a stripped down version.
setlist:
Liberation
Kingdom
Planet of the Apes
Truth
War
Lucky Animals
Juular

Funny how Devin Townsend is much bigger than Gojira in France. Ok, given how France is into rock in general, "less small". i keep hearing Gojira is huge in the UK, Germany & USA and I have a hard time believing it. ^^ |
