I was never interested in this guitar but I saw this video while watching some other dean videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8RrfpUwrUs
hideous amp tone. worse marshall sound Ive heard in a long time but.... i just noticed that the bevels make pointies like a mini stealth. I'm sure all of you knew already but I never cared enough to really notice. thought it was neat and Im bored so i typed this all up. |

That's got to be one of the worst tones on a JCM 2000 I've heard. And I know they are capable of doing good tones so it must be

I enjoy people who mistake gain for tone. If you want to sound heavier change your style of playing.
Was never a fan of these modifies, but I'm sure they will have many fans |

Cool looking guitar.
The bad tone sounds like poor mic placement. |

Well it certainly doesn't sounds as bad as a Bugera.
Yep, I bought one. Right after it's introduction at NAMM 2011. |

I really wish I could find pictures of the original Dean Stealth. So much better. I'd own this by now if it were neck-through. |

Wow... way to slate the guitar here. Its a really bad mix/tone. Not the guitar, the guitar must sound huge. |

I have two of thse same mic holders(pointing the right direction of course) . They are fine for live but are the worst for recording. they vibrate on your cabinet from the volume and produce a wierd bassy overtone into the mic that cant be dialed out in production. Always use a real stand with a boom that isnt touching the cabinet in any way. that is all. |

just my opinion, but I think its a couple things actually -
1 - i think it is actually straight DI from the head and not mic'd at all[pretty sure the 2000 had a DI out that was suppossedly "speaker emulated" and it also seems like when I had my triple super lead 2000 I HATED the emulated out].
2 - his gain is definately maxed out. ugh
3 - his EQ is plainly the over typical "metal" - all bass and no mids. you're actually hearing the bass overcoming the rest of the signal. |

And since that was a Dean video. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the same DSL I used at DOA 2011. And I got a great sound out of it. (minus the screwed up solo bar I did) |

So let me get this straight. I voice an opinion that I don't like a guitar on topic, which you so happen to own, therefore its okay to have a go at my amp, which is off the topic of the thread.
FWIW, your modifier looks like balls. Feel free to PM.

Wow. I can't even make Ampkit sound that bad and I suck at guitar... Also, those modifiers are just hideous from most angles... Should've just gone and made it more stealth like with pointed edges. |

Where's this hate for the modifier come from?
Don't like it? Don't attention seek saying you don't like it. Some people do, get over it. |

Oh, it wasn't an attack on anyone. However, it is a forum and I am on topic so I could make a post slamming it entirely and it would be part of a good conversation. |

Why should I bother? You take a potshot at Bloodroot, Lanning and I in regards to gain and tone. I hit you back on your choice of amp, you come back at me on my guitar. Why bother to PM you??? I'm way past pleasing all the people syndrome. I know people aren't going to like that guitar as well as my Futura copy. I also don't like Razorbacks either. In regards to the JCM 2000 DSL, don't push the Ultra Gain button in, and the amp sounds killer. |

Then I wouldn't have bought one. I don't like buying exact copies of Dime's guitars. Too many people call my current ML collection "Dimebag Darrell Vs." |

2 & 3 I'd say you're correct on. I don't know about #1 because I bought a Piranha instead of the DSL. But the DSL is still a great amp. |

Ya see when i made my initial statement I was referring to the horrible tone from the video, and thought that there was way too much gain. If he was looking to sell the guitar he should have used less distortion so we could hear more of the tone from the guitar. Anyone with a cheap guitar and a high gain pickup could achieve the sort of tone that the player in the video had. I was not slaying the JCM. I have an amp that is also capable of stupid levels of distortion, but find that only so much of it is usable without sounding 'tha br00talz'.
I was not taking a shot at you, Bloodroot or Lanning. From my perspective I had passed an opinion on a video demo, and in return got my gear bashed by yourself. I am aware that Bugera's are controversial, but to my ears there is nothing in the price range that sounds as good, and as a student I am going to choose sound over a company's ethics when it comes to amps.
And for what its worth, I sold the razorback, I've grown to hate V neck profiles, instead my only dean at the minute is an ATF3000. |

How did I get pulled into it? I play heavier stuff with likely less gain than most of you and am the first person to laugh at people who mask lack of ability with gain. Regardless of who said it, I'm just saying, I don't care about someone else's tone or guitars lol. You can say my tone sucks and my guitars are junk. Opinions vary... I generally stay out of tone discussions because you can't debate something like this. I did say something this one time around about this video because it's from a company with able bodied players and I'm surprised they allowed something like that out. If some dude wants to release a vid like that on his own then more power to him. If I were working for Dean I would have asked them to re-shoot that with the cab properly mic'd because it's an obvious car wreck. It's like a missed field goal in the NFL. Yeah the ball went the distance but it didn't go through the goal posts. |

hideous amp tone. worse marshall sound Ive heard in a long time but.... i just noticed that the bevels make pointies like a mini stealth. I'm sure all of you knew already but I never cared enough to really notice. thought it was neat and Im bored so i typed this all up. |
Seriously, thank you for this post. I've been eyeing the ML modifier for a few months now since I really miss my 'ole Black Gold ML. The 24 frets and Floyd Rose make it really appealing, but I'm still on the fences about it. I really didn't know that it was carved out like that, and that may just push me to buy it since I'd really like another 24 fretted guitar with a Floyd Rose.
Now it's just a matter of the satin black or the classic black. Kind of leaning towards the classic, since the satin looks like it'd be fingerprint prone, also looks a bit tacky. |

Hi the proto was in satin black. After MAB and I got done playing it I swore some of the finish had worn off. That's why I bought the laquered model. |
