Can anyone tell me how good the Vypyr's are at emulating the amps that they are modeled on? I see the new VIP models emulate the 6505,6534 and Butcher amps. If they're decent,I may have to pick one up.Any help would be appreciated... Very Happy

Got an original 30 watt. Not bad for a practice amp really. Peavey tones are great, the rest are OK. I'd love to try one of the new ones.

I have one of the small ones. The rectifier tone on them is pretty good, as well as the emulations of other Peavey amps.

The British tones seem to leave a bit to be desired.

pretty much what other people are saying. I've got the 15 and it's a great practice amp. The high-gain models are really nice and the super clean models are really nice, but the dirty settings leave a lot to be desired, but i've found that to be true with pretty much any modelling amp/software. If you're looking for just a bedroom amp, I can't recommend the vypyrs enough in this price range. They are great little amps, and IMHO, are better than the other modelling amps on the market (excluding the axeFX and elevenrack, but I consider those to be in a different catagory)

I haven't played any of the newer ones that offer the 6534 or butcher models, and I can only assume that the modelling has gotten better. The 15W doesn't really have a good, simple way of updating the firmware, so I don't know how much it has improved.

I have the 100w ss & I love the tones I can get out of it. Take the tube screamer & put it over the green channel 6505 & talk about monster riffage! I think the one thing they need is an adjustable noise gate.

I used to have the big 120w combo several years ago. I had no complaints with it at all

I have a 15 watt. Best high gain tones you're gonna get on a SS modeler. Cleans are good too. Crunch/dirt tones are meh. BUT, the included Tubescreamer effect in front of the clean models is killer. That's where you're gonna get your low-gain grit.

I have the 100w 2x12 and love it. Some of the stompboxes sound digital but the delay and reverb are all I really use. Good fender cleans and peavy high gains. It a good house amp but is loud enough to gig with. The power sponge is good for cutting it down to bedroom levels.
I like it, but I've never done a firmware update as I'm scared it will mess up. Cool amp tho.

I used to have a 75w and I really liked it. I have a Fender Mustang now and like it even more. I would really like to try out one of the new Vypyrs.

My favorite model at the moment is the Plexi. I like putting the Tubescreamer in front of the already over-driven Red Channel of the Plexi. Very sing-y lead tone.

Its a shame the new ones did away with the Plexi, the Rectifier, and the Deluxe Reverb, from what I understand.

Go for the Vypyr Tube! That's my next amp. I wasnt too impressed with the SS versions but theyre not bad.

I've been a Peavey dealer for years and have played on every Vypyr made - they all ROCK and have great modeling - I like the Roland cube and it's modeling a little better however - most likely because the effects are BOSS and I LOVE BOSS effect pedals !

The new Vypyr (2? or something like that) pretty much blew me away for a SS modeler. I'm more than likely gonna snag one soon.

So far I have zero interest in the new Vypyr VIPs. As I mentioned, they did away with some models I thought totally made the last generation. The 3 in 1 combo of being an electric, acoustic and bass amp is interesting, but honestly, raise your hand if you ever wished someone would make a guitar AND bass amp. And I'm not even sure a guitar speaker is up to the task of handling those bass frequencies on a consistent basis. I may be totally wrong, but I guess I gotta try one.

Yes I agree - the Solid State sounds AMAZING - but the tube is total tone bliss and the modeling is SO ACCURATE - the only thing for me was getting used to the control foot switch (the BIG MUTHA) that switched channels and controlled the on board effects. Also - I hope they continue to make the foot switches because it is specific to THAT amp so you can never buy an aftermarket/universal one - if you get the AMP and the foot switch and LOVE them together, I'd recommend to start looking for a back up or spare foot switch so you can enjoy the pair for a lifetime of TONE HEAVEN!!! Peace

I'm thinking about selling my Orange TH30 and cab because I don't need an amp that loud/expensive sitting in my room for practice. I like the look of the new Vypyrs. Might have to try one out when they're released.

Dig the idea of a multi instrument amp. guitar, bass, & acoustic amps all in one. Seems like it would be fun for the one man jammer, loop it up and rock it out.

with the usb out on it recording all those with whatever tone you come up with is a great thing too just need somethin like superior drummer & you can do a whole demo on your own
