Like or hate it, its cool. I'd rather you hate it and post than to not post anything.

I am no music producer by any means nor do I pretend to be, but it is fun to try. I did all the guitars, bass and recording. so its all my fault Smile
I am still working on some of the levels though. Thought I'd share with you guys at this point. The drummer and singer havent even heard it yet. Razz

guitars suck
tone sux
vocals suck
solo sux
song sux
no worries. I already agree with you. We sing the chorus "why does this song have to be so ghhey. it should be the theme in the ghhey parade"

rhythm guitars are dean '79 black gold ML with dimarzio x2n into a peavey 5150II and marshall 4x12 with vintage 30s.
lead guitar is ESP EC1000 with EMG 81s (mine has two 81s , the early ones didnt have the 60s) into peavey xxx into marshall 4x12 vintage 30s

http://www.reverbnation.com/bloodrootrocks

turn off the eq on your mp3 player though. chances are your mids are too low. sounds best on a player with the eq flat.

Its terrible. Hire a real band and a producer and engineer. The mix is all wrong. Gah! I can tell by looking . I havent even heard it yet but im pretty sure you should give up now.

I dig it.

Nice work. Thanks for not hiring Cookie Monster to do your vocals.

But now he's gone again. Laughing

The literal recording quality isn't the greatest Kris, but when I listen to metal these days, I tend to think of how it would sound in a live environment.

Based on the drums and the guitar riffs - this is one kickass song. It sucks that you can make it studio quality but c'est la vie. Musically, it's amazing.

I can see some major headbanging to this song.. except during the chorus haha.

Oh, say what you want to, doesnt hurt my feelings. You cant expect everyone to like anything anyone does these days. I am always quick to throw my opinion out without remorse. To the glam cover band thing.... that broke up over the summer over money. the person who did the least wanted to be paid the most insead of split up the money evenly. As with any band, it always goes down in flames. it became a huge teenage girl thing, memebers calling each other and trying to side with each other against others. it finally just exploded. I miss the money but not the headache. This is fun, with no expectations.

I never post, but I figured that since I listened to it, I should give you some feed back. Sounds kinda dated, sort of like Kill Switch Engage meets In Flames. BUT If you add a catchy opening( Grabs your attention), shorten the parts with no vocals (so the listener doesn't lose interest), and sloe down the lead a little and "wet" it up ( to make it sound less rushed and give it a more "vocal" tonality), You'll have yourself a HELL of a good song!

that reminded me. I had this on my hard drive. I almost forgot about them.I have a few others too. that 80s cover band was going to make a disk of some covers to get shows but we never had any problems. people seemed to flock to hair metal tribute bands. So i had all these drum trax that we never did anything with. I had the drums on my computer for awhile then after we broke up. I still had it so I played the guitar and bass to this one day. theres no vocals. just me and drums.

enjoy. hehehe.

as far as the bloodroot song. Ill leave it how it is. I just dont care enough to change it any. I have no aspirations to do much with it. Im old and tired. appreciate the comments though. I dont think I ever in my life have actually heard an in flames song and only about 3 kill switch songs that I can think of, whichever ones they had videos for. I always thought we were doing our own thing.
here is some old tunes.

I don't know why you are so down on yourself? The recording sounds good for a home recording. Much better than the redlined Crackhead Killer stuff I did.

Everyone is going to try and compare it to something that is already out there. I've been told by three people in the last few weeks that my riffs sound like Lamb of God and I don't even own one song from the band. But hey, this is the way I look at it. If someone compares me to that or Pantera or In Flames then I would take it as a compliment. All of those bands are successful and talented, so if sound like a successful and talented band thats all good in my book. If you do one natural harmonic on the 6th string, you automatically get associated with sounding likeZakk Wylde lol. I listened to your tunes and your old ones on RN, and the songs are great. You see so many bands now aday that are afraid to be "too" heavy and end up in the breaking benjaminish genre rather than metal. You guys don't have that problem. I do think you could spend a little more time on the vocal mix, but imo the instruments are right where they should be.

oh Im not really. I just posted that so people didnt think I thought i was hot s#%t. Cause I dont. I just play and keep myself entertained. I know that some people will like my stuff, some will hate it, some will not like this and that. If anyone learns anything from the internet, learn that no matter how good or bad someone is, everyone hates you for one reason or another. Yngwie is great and everyone hates him cause he is a dick and likes donuts. People hate me cause Im a dick and have an opinion on everything. I respect the fact that not everyone will think the same way as me and dont lose sleep over it. Its difficult to impress anyone these days especially musicians. So dont try. Just jam and hope for the best. Very Happy

I dont see where anyone thinks it is a bad recording personally. No its not Andy Sneap production but its not terrible by any means. I have heard alot worse on here ,but its not bad, especially since it didnt cost anything cept time. Maybe you should delete it and redownload it and relisten cause it sounds good here on every home stereo and car stereo I played it on since. The only thing I can really complain about is the volume level. This is the loudest I could get it on any compressor plugin I have. oh well. I still appreciate the comments and feedback either way.

If you liked it. feel free to pass it around to whoevever you think might like it too. put it on your phone, put it in your file sharing folder, add it to your mp3 player or whatever. Use and abuse it.

If you hate it, thats cool too. keep listening to it. maybe it will grow on you. hahaha

Ok "where did I go wrong" has been added to reverbnation now. You can go play it there now if you dont want to download it. Should be good enough quality for an mp3 player site. not trying to release a money making tune. Just something for fun.

upon further inspection and actually listening to it i approve. the only legit criticism i have is that each instrument sounded very separate from eachother and not.....blended which made the overall track less...full? i think?. its whatev, i dont know how to explain it really

I rather liked it.
Has a Killswitch Engage vibe about it, but I like the solo much better.

download(cough)i mean buy sonic foundry and use the wave hammer(medium compression) then the normalize set it to 98 percent it will kick up your volume where it needs to be.set ur normalize to 98 pecent or when u recode to mp3 it will be distorted.

Well I just gonna be completely honest. I loved it. Its exactly what I would listen to. This will be played at my bar and blasted from my truck. Great Job Kris. Very catchy tune in my opinion and it hits hard.

Song wise, freaking great one of your best. mix wise a touch wonky. but its a self done recording so cudos I think if you wanted to come back to it in a week or so with fresh ears you could dial it in.

dude if you played that song in a live venue I would have heard the intro and immediately paid attention, slick riff, catchy groove. I might have sighed a bit at the chorus, just because of the emo sound but it is a good song man.
